How I was able to get my completely dead Samsung Gear 360 Camera (2017) to start working again using a apple usb-c laptop charger.

I love you for saving my dead camera. I thought my VR recording days were over.

I tried this today after trying dozens of other options, used my Lenovo Yoga charger and it worked like a charm camera dead for months is about fully charged and I am looking forward to using it again. I charged it when I first got it and used it about half a dozen times and put it back in the box for about 9 months. I got it out this year since I wanted to finally get back into photography since I retired and was disappointed it did not work. Samsung was no help other than to suggest they could fix it for $70. This worked thank you Kevin

Its working! Use 2,1 Amp usb charger and normal cable from camera hold record button and keep pressing power button until you get that orange blink, and then let it sit and charge. Thanks a lot man! Thanks for help!

Wow! this worked for me too! thanks for posting this. I even tried a iPad Pro charger first - did not work. 15 minutes on the MacPro charger and we're back in business.

My gear 360 only seemed to charge with one ubc-c cable and refused to charge with others. After a couple years of not using it, I couldn't get it to charge at all. I tried every cable I could find, every charging block, pressing the buttons, holding the buttons, hitting it on the table as some videos suggested and it just seemed dead. What finally worked for me was leaving the unit connected to my laptop charger which was also ubs-c. I have used this charger before with my GoPro and it never did any damage. I let the camera sit connected for several hours, and I just noticed the LED is on now. So hitting the unit, then waiting a minute or 45 seconds with the buttons pressed might work for some, but I suggest a reasonable amp charger and letting the unit sit for a while. The cable I used when it did charge is a new one, not the one supplied with the camera.

hey thanks for this! had my 360 put away for almost a year 1/2 and the battery was nada when i tried to turn it on recently. i too tried a variety of charging connectors, inverted the C connector and no success. but you mentioned power brick. i had a portable power juicer free from a subscription to WIRED. plugged it in to charge and at the same time plugged the 360 into the output of the brick. voila! the charge light came on. it could be coincidence and maybe i was just impatient. overall took some time but i'm thinking i've got my 360 back. but wait...charge light just went out. argggh. punched a bunch of buttons. nothin. finally pulled the usb cable of the brick and plugged it back into a regular USB wall box and voila! charge light is back on again. i'm assuming it's just having a hissy-fit and this time it's up for the full charge. we'll see. but hey, thanks for the encouragement to 'keep fiddlin around'. speaking of which here's a music video i shot (yeah, a year and a half ago) @ kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZobLn3mte5iqZrM

Mine worked perfectly for just about four years and then it sat for several months. Then I tried a generic USB-C power/data cable and the red charging light came on when I turned the connector 180°. I waited several hours until it charged fully then i ran it down until it shut off. Two hours just about. I believe it needs attention every couple of weeks to keep it in a ready-to-use state.

When any of you had your cameras apart did you see the battery to be able to replace it with a new one? I am trying to get mine working again. But I do not have anyone I can borrow a mac charger from to try this method

I have tried everything and didn't work. Then I connected it to a power bank and the power bank light was on so therefore it was a indication that it was consuming charge, but the gear light was not on. I Left it for 5 minutes and then gear charging light turned on.

Today i rcvd samsung gear , my device not charging at all. What to do?
@riponsaha83204 жыл бұрын
@@treknfeed5316 I didn't see any specific solution that worked for everyone. You need to try different method like trying different charger, keeping charger connected for 10 minutes, trying powerbank to identify it it is consuming charge. I have seen USB C to USB c charger worked a lot. You may try that as well.

old post i know but came across my camera just recently and was not charging. tried multiple configurations and nothing. so i just left it plugged in. and about 20 minutes later the light turned on and it is charging now. Battery just dies off to the point of no charging indicator.

When I first got my camera, it was in a state like this in the box, where I just needed to leave it plugged in for a while. However, it stopped working again a few months ago, and I haven't got it working again yet. Just leaving it plugged in did not help this time. If I connect my camera to a power bank, the lights on the bank turn on, but they turn back off. Holding buttons on the camera doesn't seem to reset anything yet. My theory at this point is that Samsung's charging circuit doesn't correctly negotiate power level below the point where the charging indicator on the camera works. Following that theory, I'm trying a cheap charger that probably doesn't support Qualcomm's protocol; I will reply if I get any response from the camera.

Update: I connected the camera to the 2.4 amp port on a dumb Youse charger, and the camera charging light has finally come on. This pretty much confirms the theory that singaling between the camera and the charger is the point of failure here, so the solution is to use a misbehaving charger that will ignore the malfunctioning camera and just provide fixed power regardless. I will probably go back to my normal Samsung charger now if the camera works, but I'll keep this charger around to get the camera unstuck in case this ever happens again.

Worked just as stated. tried everything else, even hitting on table which is plain stupid.

I really thought this was going to be the one, but unfortunately, I still got nothing. Left it on the new MacBook charger for about 6 hours, and still nothing. I tried slamming it, taking it apart, several power bricks, and battery packs, and still nothing. RIP to my 360 camera ☹️😢

So happy to update (in case anyone really wanted to know) that my camera is now working! Strangely it wasn't the MBP charger that worked. I went back to my Anker battery pack, and plugged it in. While the camera itself didn't light up right away, the battery banks lights stayed on. So I held down the buttons until it lit up, and now it's working!
