Here’s something I’ve told my boys to consider: If you masturbate to pornography, there is a good chance that at least one woman you see is dead from suicide or drug overdose. If you watch many videos, that chance approaches certainty. With that knowledge-that our urges are being sated over the bodies of the dead that the industry has claimed-it should be difficult to ever see it the same way again.

Tips from my experience: Do the sacrament of confession, do daily bible reading, pray the rosary. I do it daily (not the sacrament of confession of course) and it strengthened my faith and keeps me away from porn. Of course temptation is always around us. it will never disappear as long as we live, so we need to equip the spiritual armor.

Remember how many of the girls (and guys, too) in those videos have died from self-deletion or overdose. When you watch, some of the people you see are gone, destroyed by that industry. Tears and prayers are the appropriate response, not arousal.

I want there to be a record of this for others to see. I was watching an unrelated youtube video to distract myself from temptation. Then I minimized it, to look for another but in the back of my head the thought came 'well now that I'm holding the phone'... and this video thumbnail was what I saw when I minimized the video. It was powerful for me because I am finding the rosary is helping a lot. Praying with our Heavenly Mother is a great support. Take heart brothers and sisters. The Lord is always there, especially when we need him. Matt's strive21 has also been a big help

I think the biggest contributor to porn addiction is loneliness for men. Nobody wants to talk about male loneliness and their desires for sexual intimacy are being unfulfilled in a marriage they dont have, but crave, so they use something thats a complete distortion. I say this because I feel this, and millions of men, particularly western men, feel lonely and rejected and dejected. This is not to excuse a sin, but loneliness is arguably the number one contributor to addiction for men. A loss of hope of ever marrying can lead to a much worse addiction. Im not saying this to excuse a mortal sin, but to describe the biggest contributor to this mortal sin

@Ulfrich_Stormcock I think it depends on whether you want it to be a problem or not. I never had any desire to marry nor have a relationship and I don't consume NSFW stuff since late 2022.

I disagree. Your sexual desires aren't really completely satisfied in marriage. Maybe for a lucky few who's completely on the same wave-length sexually as their spouse, but that's not always the case and even so it gets harder when you start a family. And even if you're both on the same wavelength AND find the time...well as a man who's broken and lustful, I want what I can't have. I see a girl at work or in the store or on KZbin or just conjured up from my own imagination and I desire her, often more than my wife. Sleeping with my wife doesn't stop my lust for other women. Lots of married men struggle with porn in otherwise happy marriages. It doesn't end. Marriage doesn't satiate you the way you think. Don't look at is as an outlet for your lust.

Brothers, you have not because you ask not. Sincerely ask Jesus for the strength to overcome your sin and it will happen. You must fight sin and hate the sin, but you will not fight alone and you will not lose your battle if you persevere.

Yes absolutely. We have only one mediator between us and the Father, Jesus Christ alone. But tell me, who is the mediator between us and Christ? Who is the person that draws us to Jesus? The Father using the Holy Spirit working through people. Who did the Holy Spirit fill in order to share the gospel, the good news? The first was Mary. “The Spirit of the Lord with come upon you and overshadow you.” Then after that, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit down to his disciples to preach the gospel with power. The disciples of Jesus are the ones who became instruments, messengers, the hands and feet of Jesus, the body of Christ. We have only one mediator between us and the Father, Jesus Christ alone. But Jesus sends the Holy Spirit in and through all kinds of people to bring us to him so he can bring us to the Father. Through Mary, by the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father, Jesus came to us and saves us. If there's a problem with God using men and women to bring us to Jesus, then take up that problem with God. God doesn't just use people to bring messages of good news, he also uses angels too. If you have a problem with that, take it up with him.

I’m not a fan of the Charismatic Renewal. It’s Catholics acting like Protestants. I went and watched and participated, but many have beliefs that are heretical or Protestant that either they never let go of or acquired.
