Definitely, but it doesn’t. But on the new 15 Pro shooting Apple log it’s resolved.

@@iphoneographers is it? I was wondering... So log is before tone mapping in the pipeline? That would be cool! (I'm on 13pro, btw)

@CosminRotaru Yep. Tone mapping and sharpening are not present in Apple Log, but it’s 15 Pro/Max only.

Which is the mic that Chris is wearing? What do we call such mics?

Thanks for explaining this. The stock iPhone camera app has annoying and sometimes distracting flicker when filming a scene with a bright blue sky or snow.

Thanks for this, Blake. I was pretty clueless before this in Global vs Local tone mapping! 🙏
@Workingfilms2 жыл бұрын
Always love hearing from Chris! Thanks for this video gents. 👏 this cleared a bit up for me as I had it the wrong way around in my head, thinking that local would be better because it would only be affecting smaller parts of the image. Glad to have it clarified.
@iphoneographers2 жыл бұрын
Technically local is better… But it’s more variable. And so it will change easier, however, be sure to test it out. With the later phones especially I’ve noticed that the “exposure shift” is not nearly as bad as it used to be. And in some cases it’s rocksolid. For me, if I’m shooting in a very high contrast scene especially if the camera is static I’ll probably use local. It’s noticeably better. Otherwise for most stuff global is probably the way to go. 👍🏻

Hey! Awesome work you do! Just wondering if actual shiftcam lenses will still work on iPhone 14’s bigger sensor?
@iphoneographers2 жыл бұрын
I don’t have those to test out, but so far most lenses do seem to be working in initial testing I’ve seen. But not all, it’ll really be manufactured dependent. Will be doing extensive looks at that once I get cases and cages. Thanks for watching!

Hello, please, is filmic pro a weekly subcription? On iphone 11 it shows a one time fee of about £12 and it showing about £4 per week on iphone 13. What's the problem please. I wish to use ot on Iphone 13 with a one time fee
@iphoneographers2 жыл бұрын
Does it say that when you try to buy it on the App Store or is that once you have it and it’s an in-app purchase? Since I already have it I’m not seeing it. In the past it’s always been a one time fee and then you can buy in-app purchases like the CineKit or Film Looks etc.

Blake, I signed up and took your course on filmic pro. However I am completely stumped as to why I take a video in portrait mode when I replay it in the filmic pro app it's in full portrait mode on my iPad. However when I take a video in landscape mode and replay it in the filmic pro app it looks likes it's into 1 x1 format and only takes up about 1/2 of the screen on my iPad. now if I move it to my iOS photo library it suddenly plays in full screen mode. 80 years old and terrible confused. I have been using filmic pro for several years and never had this problem before.
@iphoneographers2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, first off thanks for taking the course and I hope it was educational for you! Regarding that issue… that’s a weird one I haven’t encountered. My first thought is to say do a hard restart of your phone. The kind where you hold the buttons down for 5+ seconds and the phone completely turns off. Then restart it where you see the Apple logo again. The issue sounds like a bug to me, especially since it seems to only happen in Filmic. The other thing I wondered was if it’s possible you shot something with anamorphic accidentally on (desqueeze) or possibly an aspect ratio crop. But since it looks normal in the Photos library that’s probably not it. The last thing to do would be to actually reinstall FiLMiC Pro. Delete it from your phone and then re-download it from the App Store. However, if you do this make sure you SAVE any videos from the app first otherwise they will be deleted. Let me know if any of this helps or if you still haven’t figured it out. -BC

@@iphoneographers Blake thanks for the suggestions, however, no change. on my iPhone 11 Pro no issue, it's just with my old 9.7 inch iPad pro. I am really unhappy that even though I have submitted to emails describing the issue to the filmic help desk I have had no response from them.

Great video, I have a question, when I use filmic pro in horizontal (handheld) and I lock reticles (exposure and focus) If I move the iPhone and the screen rotates to vertical, both reticles automatically unlock so I have to manually check again all the setting to be sure that it is appropriate . Is this something that i'm doing wrong? It's a bug? Is as it has to be? Thanks!
@Daniverse962 жыл бұрын
Hi you have to lock the orientation, in “device settings” there is a toggle for it
@lamoviola2 жыл бұрын
@@Daniverse96 yes, the orientation is just an example, if you turn off the display or switch to another app you have the same issue, filmic does not maintain the reticles “in red”
@iphoneographers2 жыл бұрын
I rarely shoot vertically, but I have noticed that before and I think it’s just a quirk. Or maybe a bug. You can lock the screen orientation within Filmic Pro if you’d like and that’s actually what I do especially for moving the phone around a lot.
@MiMetaverso2 жыл бұрын
@@iphoneographers Thanks for your response. Neither do I shoot vertically but you know sometimes you stop recording and move the iPhone (moreover if you shoot handheld), as you say the only way to avoid this is locking the device rotation, so who knows? could it be fine to know the explanation of this behavior from the developers. Good job my friend keep going on! Love your channel!

Dynamic tone mapping overrides everything. And it’s more exposure shifts than white balance shifts. But absolutely, you lock all your settings.
