Nah. Clearly you bought all those subscribers (you know, using that barista money…) But seriously, you’ve done good work. Sure, you got a bit of help from the algorithm, but you deserved that bump. My favorite second-hand story about Jared Leto: In the early 2000's when 30 Seconds was still on the come up, they headlined a show at a place called The Southgate House in Northern Kentucky. Legend has it John Dillenger invented the Tommy Gun in the basement, I'm getting off track. My brother's buddies had a rock act, he was the defacto manager, they were one of the opening acts on the basement floor, 30 Seconds to Mars was the main act on the ground level. So Jared and crew popped downstairs to drink backstage before their set and watch the locals. They decided heckling the bands as they walked offstage would be a funny thing to do. Well my brother's buddies' band walks off, hears this snickering condescension from a bunch of trust fund rockers, and gets right the fuck in their faces. The drummers try to cool their opposing sides heels, but the guitarist and bassist of this local band are basically good ole' boys. Keeps running his mouth, the guitarist steps to him and cocks back, Jared punk flinches and they just laugh their stupid asses off. They were not invited back to the Southgate House after this, because 30 Seconds pulled out right before their set and left (presumably because Jared didn't bring a change of pants.)

The part where you talked about how you had to learn to do things for your enjoyment alone really resonated with me. I’m in my first year of college, and going into it I knew that my social life wouldn’t be the same after graduating because everyone has their own things going on. It was still so stressful and upsetting to feel restricted because I had no one to spend time with, but I like doing things alone now and it’s so freeing. Of course I enjoy spending time with friends, but I don’t feel like it’s an absolute necessity every time I want to do something; I honestly think it helped me gain more confidence.
