Hello, great video! I'm sorry if you already mentioned this in the video, but when doing timed questions, do you recommend doing whole exam papers In timed conditions or just individual sections in timed conditions? Thank you
@luluhalim
@luluhalim Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I mainly focused on timed sections and did around 1 whole paper a week (I did more around 1 week before the ucat) I would say gauge how you’re feeling with your exam and then decide. I felt like whole papers took too much time and I wanted to focus more on the sections that I struggled in but at the same time they’re a really good way of making sure you practice sitting for a good 2 hours doing all the sections. So I’d say find a balance as both are really important.
@ybeiscool

Thanks for the video and congrats on that score. Did you do ur UCAT this year? Which sections on Medify were harder/easier than the real exam?
@luluhalim
@luluhalim Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I did it last year. I would say the difficulty was mostly very similar, if I were to pinpoint though, the decision making questions were just a slightly bit more difficult in the exam. I also noticed that the verbal reasoning extracts in medify were a bit longer than the actual exam (and the qs in the ucat website), other than that everything was almost the same

Yooo congrats on the amazing score. How did you perform on mocks compared to the actual UCAT?
@luluhalim
@luluhalim Жыл бұрын
Thank youu! I would say I did slightly better in the mocks in verbal reasoning, and decision making ( so the mocks were just slightly easier than the exam), and around the same in abstract reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and situational judgement.

i need a lot of help so basically at the beginning of my revision my resources weren’t that good and i decided to leave the ucat website for the last two to three weeks, biggest mistake because the resource i was using (passmedicine) was so much easier in the DM and VR section. I’m okay at QR but i can’t do with the timing, like i spend around 1 min to do the questions instead of 40 secs per section and that adds up so i can’t finish in the time given? i’m started to stress out and get really scared, what should I do?
@luluhalim
@luluhalim Жыл бұрын
I’m assuming you still have a couple of weeks left. First thing is try to not stress because the ucat is very much based on how you’re feeling so clear your mind and just think about how you can improve these last weeks. I would say start going through all the ucat website resources and focus on flagging and coming back to the questions to save time as it is really helpful. For QR, make sure to practice using the number pad and the whiteboard, they help in timing, and start using some shortcuts like Alt N (next q) Alt f (flag) Alt C (calculator) which save time (also some qs in the QR need 3+ steps so focus on identifying those and leave them to the end as they take a lot of time that you can instead spend on the other questions). For DM and VR, make sure to do a lot of questions on the ucat website to get a gist of the difficulty and use things like looking for keywords and skim reading in VR. Make sure to spend a good amount of time on practicing and Good luck in your exam I’m sure you’ll do amazing!

@luluhalim
@luluhalim Жыл бұрын
I would say try and see which section particularly is fluctuating the most and work on it more separately, that would help in making sure your score becomes more consistent. Also try to always do mock papers when your mentally ready because it might be that you’re doing a mock when you’re tired etc. so that would affect your concentration and your score. Good luck in your exam!

Thank you for this video and welldone! I have almost a week left but I'm still not amazing on timing in AR, what do you think I should do? Also, what would u recommend for me to do during this week as I have been mainly just doing mini mocks and timed practice. Thank you :)
@luluhalim
@luluhalim Жыл бұрын
Thank you! For AR I would say make sure to have a list of all/some of the possible patterns as that will help in finding them quicker. Also ensure that you always flag and move on if you find that you are taking too much time so that you save time for the easier patterns! I would say perhaps start doing some whole mocks, but other than that I think timed practice and mini mocks are the best way to prepare in these last few days. Good luck and I hope the test goes well!😊💪🏼

Medify recommends 6 months to a year but how realistic is this? Is it possible to prepare for a couple of hours a week for maybe 8 weeks?
@luluhalim
@luluhalim Ай бұрын
I personally think you don’t need that much, a couple of hours a day I’d say for 5-6 weeks would be the most ideal setup especially since mock exams are usually around may/ june period :) I started around mid July and did my UCAT mid september and that worked fine for me

The ucat exam is really not the best at all as it doesn’t test knowledge that you can learn / study. Make sure to watch videos of people walking through the ucat, I’ve linked some in my description and they might help in seeing the techniques they use. Give it the last big push before the exam. After that I’d suggest looking at the bmat and universities that don’t look at the ucat. This may not be what you want to hear but it always helps to look at the other options. As med students we’re lucky to have two exams that we can take in case one goes bad. I hope everything goes well!
