General tips: 1) All questions are worth the same number of marks so skip the hard questions 2) Familiarize yourself with the user interface: computer based calculator, same interface on the ucat website to practice exams 3) Focus on the questions you got wrong, forum to ask questions: the student room 4) Track your progess in each section Verbal reasoning tips: 1) Do not use outside information to answer questions, only use the information provided in the text 2) Scan key words related to the question 3) Focus on the words: "some", "cannot", "most", "least", "except" Quantitative reasoning tips: 1) Learn the equations at 6:12 2) Leave questions that need 3 calculations for the end 3) Know your weaknesses and leave these questions for the end Abstract reasoning tips: 1) Don't make rules with "or" or "at least" 2) Find positive rules, not negative rules 3) SCANS: Shape, Colour, Arrangement, Number, Size: 9:04

Did you guys find it easier or harder than medify and the UCAT official website resources???
@angellll3574 жыл бұрын
Hey. I found QR to be muchh easier than the medify and especially ucat resources (I was getting like 300-600 when practicing and 690 on the actual QR). I found VR to be harder because the passages and answers tended to be longer so it was harder to find the key words. I found DM and AR to be around the same difficulty as medify. Lastly SJT was slightly more difficult (just by a little bit) because it was harder to know whether the answer was very important or important etc as it seemed like either could be right. Hopefully this helps 😊. If you haven't done your UCAT yet, then remember this was just MY experience and yours may differ greatly. So do as much practice as you can and good luck! 😊

@@Akira12364 😂 thanks. It is all about practice. I gave myself about 6/7weeks of revision. Initially I used the 1250 questions book to give an overview of the sections. Then I used medify (initially starting with the practice questions and the section specific mocks then closer to my exam I started to do full mocks. Don’t do full mocks at the start as it will likely make you stressed if you don’t get the results you want) and in the last week MedEntry. 100% recommend medify and MedEntry the book was good but not a necessity. Soljaboi Dunkon’eeem hey did you find it harder or easier than medify and the UCAT official resources? Because I found quantities reasoning really hard on UCAT official website but quite easy on medify...
@SG-we9gq4 жыл бұрын
Alec 64 medify is basically the same as the real thing, except for AR, the AR on Medify is much much easier than the real thing, I was getting 800 on medify whereas I got 670 in the real thing, the UCAT official website was harder than the real thing I would say, by a considerable amount, but I only did two mocks on there, I feel like if I did them all I would’ve gotten better, so defo do all of them, they are much tougher though, little late for UCAT now don’t you think 😂, I’ve started preparing for BMAT 😅, but good luck.

I find it really hard to find the keywords in the passage and I feel like I'm not improving at all regardless of how much practice I do. I did one of the diagnostic tests on medify and got 530 on average with AR being my lowest and I'm starting to lose hope at this point because I really want to get a score in the 700s if possible.

I ain't belong to medical field but in India we've entrance exams for management programme which is widely known as CAT. We've same subjects except situational judgement. Your tips really motivated me alot. I've 5 months more to take the exam. The keyword in your video is "PRACTICE" which I'm relatively taking away from this video. Thank you 🌼

This video is so helpful, I now feel like I may be capable of getting into medicine! I have been considering doing a course for the UCAT but UCAT is still fairly new in Australia and I fear the courses might not be as helpful, I will be buying the 1250 UKCAT book, fingers crossed. I'm really scarred of the quantitative section> maths horrifies me and my math teacher in senior year sucked! Dropped the unit in year 11/12 (2015). Suggestions for improving maths? thanks for making such an informative video!

Hey! Yeah you definitely can it just needs practice 😁 for maths practice practice practice.. get used to using the on screen calculator, improve your mental maths, and memorize some of the frequently used equations!

i have been practicing for 3 weeks now straight. i work at least 3 hours a day doing the ukcat but im finding it so difficult to improve, my score is always below 600. my test is in 3 days now and i literally have no hope left. i have tried everything to improve :(
@KharmaMedic6 жыл бұрын
Hey afia, well done on all the work you have put it. For the next couple of days try and focus on your weak spots and think of specific ways to improve those. Other than that take the mock scores you are getting with a pinch of salt, it is likely you will find certain sections on exam day easier! Good luck :D

Thank you so much. This video involves such great advice, i find myself coming back to it whenever i want to refresh my memory. For the VB section (the reading comprehension questions), do you recommend reading the whole passage or using the key work approach? PS, your study notes are awesome as well ^^
@KharmaMedic6 жыл бұрын
Hey Julas thanks so much :) I've answered this a couple of times in private messages but basically, when I did the UKCAT I did the keyword approach but I don't think it worked too well for me. If i had to do it again I would go for reading the whole passage quickly but actively enough that when I read a question I could jump back to the relevant part. It really depends on the person though so I would recommend trying out multiple techniques and seeing what works for you! I'm happy you could read the notes haha!

Thank you sooo much for your videos. I ended up getting 2750 and Band 1 despite getting below 2400 in every practice test 😊. VR let me down on the actual day but your videos helped me improve QR which helped my overall score. Practicing was sometimes upsetting so thank you for your tips and reassurance.

@@beepbobeep4594 Aw I’m glad to help😊. I completelyy understand how you might be feeling. I remember doing so badly on a practice test the day before my exam which was so discouraging but the exam on the actual exam day was a bit easier. I hope that’s your case too. I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to panic too much on the day and don’t go into the exam expecting to do badly like on the practice tests as that may psych you out. I wish you the best of luck🤞🏾🤞🏾 and you’ll know more than you think you do!

Hi Nasir, Thanks for the video it rly helped :). Do you have any advice on what to do on the day before your UKCAT exam?
@KharmaMedic6 жыл бұрын
Hey Simran glad you liked it! The day before your UKCAT or any big exam or interview you really want to make yourself as relaxed as possible. For some people this means not looking at their books at all (whatever you have studied you already know and is there, no need to stress yourself out on the last day), for others this means glancing over their notes in the morning/afternoon to make sure they still remember everything and then taking the evening off (the category I fall into), and others like to cram cram cram up until they sleep! Whatever will make you feel the most comfortable is what you should do! What I like to do is to have previously made a list of the most important things you definitely want to go over and see the day before your exam, have a leisurely look through those up until the afternoon and then spend the rest of the day unwinding and relaxing! You want to have as little nerves as possible and not be stressed before you take your test! Hope that helps!

I have my UCAT exam tomorrow, and from the Practice Tests on the Official UCAT website (Practice Test A, for example), it looks very hard. I have enrolled with Kaplan and done a significant amount of practice, but the official UCAT Practice Tests look quite a bit harder. I am now wondering if the actual test will be of the same, or similar, calibre. Additionally, when flagging questions for review, I tend to forget their heirachy on which I should attempt first once I’ve completed all the easier questions and am going through my second pass of the exam. Also, the on-screen calculator seems quite inconvenient. I would appreciate a quick reply addressing all of my concerns as my exam is in less than twenty four hours already!
@KharmaMedic5 жыл бұрын
The actual exam is easier than the official mocks!! Good luck 😁

trust me its never too late, dedicate as much time as you can to doing practice questions and reviewing where you messed up. try using a stopwatch to time each question to get you up to speed.

I’m one of the top scoring students, for English, at my high school (final year). I’m terrified of verbal reasoning because I absolutely despise the layout of what are basically comprehension questions...Not to mention the time pressures. However, I’m awful at even the most basic of maths.

when is the best time to practice for the UCAT like i’m in year 12 and i have no idea what to do
@graemefindlater52342 жыл бұрын
Just practice, practice, practice. And if you don't know, don't waste time, guess and move on. Practice Abstract Reasoning and remember the rules as they will come up, you can score very highly in that by doing so.

Did you memorise your notes for situational judgement or did you find you seem to just remember from lots of practise? Thankyou!
@KharmaMedic6 жыл бұрын
The more practice you do the more easily you will remember and recognize similar patterns. But if you can't remember the most important parts then memorize them! Definitely doesn't hurt :)
