I have to disagree with your point about the UCAT being a test that you can’t revise in depth or at length for. Each of the sections test skills which are learned, not innate. Personally, I really suck at both maths and reading so I really need to work on those skills if I want to do well in VR & QR because as with any skill, the more I practice, the more adept I will become. The UCAT is also an extremely time pressured exam which means that you have to be very proficient at the skills to be able to use them at speed. In short, any skill that you desire needs to be practiced and that practice will bring the required speed. It may be the case for those that are already adept at the required skills to only need a short period of practice simply to get used to the format of the test and need very little in the way of skill building, but for me and many others, we need to work hard to to gain the skills and speed needed to do well on the test.

Here are the rules mentioned at 10:14 : 1. 3 shapes instead of 2 shapes in each box 2. Each set has different number of total sides 3. At least one circle in each shape other shapes have straight edges 4. Arrows all pointing anywhere but right 5. Arrows all pointing anywhere but left 6. Rotational symmetry has order of 2/4 7. All black/grey objects fit together in white circle 8. All have same number of white, black or grey areas 9. Multiply hour hand by minute hand 10. All shapes have same object to make up eyes and mouth 11. Small objects linked by straight line without encountering another object 12. Large object is white and number of black circles is equal to number of sides plus one 13. Prime number of intersections the line passes through 14. Each contains at least one happy and sad face 15. Set A being odd number of points and set B even number of points 16. One black shape in each and either triangle or quadrilateral 17. Number of sides of shapes equals number of double-headed arrows 18. Diamond moves diagonally and cross moves anticlockwise 19. Each box has at least two shapes - largest being circle or square 20. Circles on bottom half unless hexagon present 21. When arrows on top of each other or vice versa more circles or more squares 22. Two circles equals patterned shape and one arrow equals black shape 23. White shape has 3/5 more sides than the black shape 24. Total number of enclosed regions is three/2 (sticks) 25. Two curved shapes = triangle present (one overlap = black triangle, 2 = striped triangle 3= white triangle) 26. Two straight shapes and triangle present 27. Dashed circles in corners (big shapes sides is 4+number of circles) 28. Dashed circles on sides (big shapes sides is 2+ number of circles) 29. 8 sides but count number of sides on black as double and biggest shape is in lowest position 30. Hand points to odd number, minutes points to even number 31. Shaded and unshaded groups are separate/overlap 32. Four corners occupied by four distinct shapes and three circles with various patterns 33. Shape with prime number of sides has dotted edges and non-prime is full edges 34. Arrow points up when circle triangle and quadrilateral present 35. 15 symmetrical letters formed into three words/four words 36. Imaginary lines drawn between triangles encloses all circles vice versa 37. Ellipse points to square/circle 38. Multiples of 5 dots/6 dots 39. Shape intersects square at corner vs. on sides 40. More dots inside outlines shape than outside 41. All triangles are above the squares 42. Self crosses line once and if curved line then circle present 43. Total number of sides is even 44. Odd number of overlaps and even number of lines 45. Two black and two grey 46. Number of sides of shape is number of arrows and all arrows parallel 47. The number of intersecting lines is twice the circles

i don't understand how to do the VR, ive tried scanning for keywords but i always waste time scanning and never really understand whats going on and get the questions wrong cuz i end up guessing. on the other hand if i read the whole passage i either take too long to understand or i skim too fast that nothing really gets in my head. its just so hard to read fast and retain the info whilst also trying to dodge the tricks like the question asking whats NOT true and this is really fustrating me idk wht to do :/
@SmileWithSola2 жыл бұрын
At the end of the day, don't beat yourself up. Verbal reasoning seems easy in theory but most people score the least on it. Try your best, do as much time practice as possible to get your score up. Focus on the other sections as well so that your average score is fine. Read the question BEFORE you read the extract and just before you're about to select your final answer. Don't scan if it doesn't work for you, it's a waste of time. Read the question, find the keyword, scan FOR the keyword and read around it. Best of luck, you've got this!

I keep doing QR and I’m failing with it. The timing and even the questions, I just find it so hard
@SmileWithSola2 жыл бұрын
I think you should make sure that you are understanding the questions first before doing timing. First, do as many questions untimed as you can until you start to pick up on the patterns. Once you're more comfortable, go back to timing. You won't always get every question right but you are more likely to with more untimed practice.

I am writing to seek your guidance regarding the possibility of pursuing an MBBS degree despite not having a traditional science background in my O and A Levels. I have completed my A Levels with subjects that do not include Biology, Physics, or Chemistry. However, I am very determined to become a doctor and a surgeon. Given this situation, I have several questions that I hope you can help me with: 1. **Eligibility for MBBS**: Can I pursue an MBBS degree without having studied Biology, Physics, and Chemistry in my O and A Levels? Are there any specific bridging courses or preparatory programs that I need to complete before applying to an MBBS program? 2. **UCAT Preparation**: I understand that the UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test) is an important requirement for medical school admissions. Could you provide information on how to best prepare for the UCAT, especially considering my non-science background? Are there any recommended resources or study plans tailored for students like me? 3. **Additional Recommendations**: Are there any other steps or considerations I should be aware of to improve my chances of being admitted into an MBBS program? Your insights and advice will be incredibly valuable to me as I navigate this challenging but important journey towards my goal. I appreciate your time and assistance in advance. Thank you very much for your help.

For 8 weeks of preparation, how much time would you be spending per day? Also, in the actual exam, will each section just end after the 21 minutes are up for example?
@ImranAwan-n9s6 ай бұрын
Also, is the 6-12 months recommended by Medify actually true, or is 4-8 weeks enough, as the UCAT website recommends 25 hours?
@paigeallanah32795 ай бұрын
@@ImranAwan-n9s i would do probably 2hours a day for 8 weeks so you dont get burnt out. 4-8weeks is defo enough - id say any longer is actually worse as you burn out and get overwhelmed :))

How did you scale your scores for each section? On Medify my scaled scores are lower for the same mark compared to the table used by other students on Medic Mind? Which one would you go off of, as I don't want to give myself false confidence/ or stress myself out unnecessarily?

Learn how to use the memory function + short cuts, it really helps. Also, for basic fractions / percentages, know the conversions off by heart. For typing in the calculator, use your number pad instead of actually clicking it (wastes time). Do as many practice questions as you can, it's boring I know, but unfortunately practice is the only way to improve your timing. Think about your future self when you do it! :-)
