You're not necessarily locked into your initial scholarship amount. The son of family friends received an initial Berklee scholarship for $8K/year(?), which was increased to $48K/year for academic excellence. We're very happy for him and hope his example can encourage others to work for the same.

Jeez. Congrats! I got a trumpet performance scholarship at USC and dropped the major next year, but it helped my composition skills a lot. Have fun man!

Hey G, dope video. I'm curious if you'd be willing to disclose how large of a scholarship you got. I got my application result today, with an 8k scholarship, and while I'm encouraged, that's not really enough to offset the overall cost, so it would great to your opinion on the matter, at least for your situation. And dude, more vocal content, your voice is sick!

I got a 14k scholarship, my general advice would be to hold off on berklee until you have a plan for what you wanna do while there/after. If you can figure out what courses you wanna take/what courses you can test out of, you can graduate 1-4 semesters early. then the cost isn't as much as 8 semesters. For reference, I'm planning to graduate in 6 semesters.

Nice video! I also wanted to ask if its normal to get just 8k from them. I got my acceptance letter this friday and they approved me for 8k. Is this just an initial offer from them? Or is that all they'll offer for the 4 semesters I'll be there for... I think its also important for me to mention that I'm using transferable credits from my previous college, does that help with the tuition cost as well? Thanks so much!!

Make sure that your financial situation is known to them! My mistake was that I didn't push for more scholarship. I have friends who got more after their initial offer because they asked, there is no harm in asking and asking can take you a long way :) btw the 8k is on a per semester basis, so only 4 sems.

transfer credits are OP, it definitely will help with cost as you have to go for less semesters. If your goal is to save costs, my best suggestion is to work closely with your student success advisor (when you get here) to plan your future semesters ahead of time just so you know what courses you're taking and when. a quick note to be aware of is just know that some of the advisors are less competent than others. so if you're ever in a spot where you're unsure of their advice being good for you, go to the drop-in hours where other advisors are available. best of luck !
