Currently in undergrad and a little stressed right now because I feel like I’m running a little low on time. Needed this video for more organization. Especially since they’re not a lot of us in this field 💗

Kinesiology was a beast! I considered PT too. But my inner child kept screaming that he wanted to do something with language... Huge shift from kinesiology major! But that first semester I got into language stuff (end of sophomore year) I was so excited and happy I decided to major in Linguistics. Then in my first ling class we talked about different careers and SLP jumped out at me. I graduated in Feb and now I'm getting ready to start submitting apps! I'm hoping to get into NYU, but I'm also applying to leveling programs so that if NYU rejects me then I can go do the leveling and try again. It's so nice to hear that someone had a very similar experience!!! I think my biggest obstacle with getting into NYU is writing a stellar Personal Statement. I have the bones down, it just needs to be fleshed out, more of my voice and narrative.

@@AshleyNikasia Nice! I'm really happy to hear that! Also was there any mention of them requiring a PHD down the line or is masters going to remain the standard for a while? (Gotta know how fast I should go back to school!🤣).

I haven't heard anything about needing a PhD so I think you'll be good for some time! :)

Awesome video! Is your degree equivalent to the in person classes? Does it affect jobs if your courses were online?
@AshleyNikasia Жыл бұрын
Yes! We still do internships during the program to get in person experience with clients. So our degree is equivalent to if we did the classes in person and does not affect us getting jobs after graduation

Hi! I just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the great info! I'm wondering how your semesters have been so far. Since you're in the program, can you let me know that if you did take the prerequisites, would the program cost less and how much time can you potentially save if you have the NYU and ASHA prerequisites? I plan to apply in the fall.
@AshleyNikasia2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I actually did not have the prerequisites prior to starting. So I paid for an extra 2 semester of classes to complete them. I did have the ASHA prerequisites from undergrad so that helped me save. I was able to just focus on the NYU classes instead of trying to make time to do NYU classes and ASHA prereqs

I've been looking into this program at NYU including the pre requisite portion. I'm curious how long did it take to finish the courses you needed prior to actually beginning the graduate program? & do they only do that if you go the online method? not sure if you know haha
@AshleyNikasia3 жыл бұрын
I finished the pre-reqs in 2 semesters. I'm not too sure if they only allow that online. The classes go by quickly cause they're only 7 weeks long and they are intense. So I would understand if they only do that through an online format
