HOW I GOT INTO USC SDA // AUDITION TIPS FOR THEATRE PROGRAMS

How did you pick your audition material? Did you read a bunch of plays and then pick?

Hey! They usually ask you to do opposing monologues so I looked throughout some Shakespeare plays for the classical monologues and for the contemporary ones I just looked online! Just choose monologues that best showcase you and showcase your acting ability the best. It doesn’t needs to be the most amazing or underground material, but also don’t do too well known monologues

Madison Snow I auditioned with Phoebe’s monologue from “As You Like It” by Shakespeare for my Classical/Comedy and a monologue from “Courbet, Or Woman With a Parrot” by Kitt Lavoie for my Contemporary/Drama

They do to a certain extent (probably not too much anymore) they care much more about who you are as a person and what you can offer!
