After suffering from anxiety and depression for 3 years I talk about my experience using Setraline/Zoloft. Just after 3 months, it has been life changing.
CORRECTION: At the time of filming I was supporting someone on Citalopram so when recording this I had the name of that drug stuck in my head. I am on Setraline/Zoloft so ignore any mention of Citalopram. I will correct this in my next video 🙏🏼
Dosage:
50mg (25mg for the first week)

I had anxiety for 10 years. I thought I could push through it but it got so debilitating that I finally saw a therapist and a psychiatrist whom put me on setraline. Mind you I have never been on meds in my life. I try as much as possible to get my help through natural resources. I am a healthy person who exercises and eats healthy so when that wasn't working anymore I knew it was time for professional help. I am going on 3 weeks taking this and it has made a difference in my world. I feel like my old self again with confidence and motivation to move my life forward. It's amazing! I plan on continuing the medication with therapy as well. God bless anyone that reads this and I hope it helps you out. 🙏❤️

THIS is ME!!! ❤thank u for giving me hope. I'm on day 3 but my mind has already slowed down and I don't have any racing thoughts rn. I'm in shock at how this has helped and I've been AGAINST MEDS for 20 yrs. If u are on the fence don't let the "side effect" (nausea, headache, bad dreams) that said I am normally very sensitive to medications. Vitamins make me soooooo sick and tbh I have NOT had any symptoms. I talk about PTSD and I'm vlogging my symptoms if u wanna check it out and watch me bloom. Love u guys thank u for talking about this. U are so much stronger than I know. U have got this!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

My anxiety became worse as I approached my late 50's. I finally went to see my GP about four years ago. She prescribed sertraline. In a short period of time, the results were life changing for the better. I will be 65 this year, and look forward to interacting with people in all situations. I don't even fear speaking in front of a group of peers, or employees. The overall results for me have been fantastic!

Thanks for your post young man. I am also taking Sertraline, as anxiety became too much for me in my 50;s. It took a long time before I began to feel the positive effects, and my doctor has increased my dose to 100mg, which has given me postive results. Still, I will need another increase or two, because I still suffer from panic attacks, yet they have decreased considerably since I have taken this medication. Thanks again for your post, young people should not have to suffer like you went through. Modern society is destroying all of us no matter what age. God Bless.

Hi Lee, thank you for your comment. I am so glad to hear the medication is having some positive effects on your mental health. It sounds like you're on the right track and hopefully in time you will overcome the panic attacks. I agree, I think we are only at the tip of the iceberg in regards to the severity of mental health in young people. We should all be investing in it now! Keep well my friend.

Very glad to hear that it's being accompanied with therapy. In many cases, taking antidepressants without therapy is the worst thing you can do - it's simply kicking the problem under the carpet. So many people sadly get caught in that trap.

Zoloft has been life changing for me. Ive had high anxiety levels since I was a kid (I’m 48 now). I’ve been on Zoloft a year now and I finally realize how I’m supposed to feel. No longer being blind sided by an unprovoked panic attack. No longer scared to speak in front of groups. No longer waking up with a sense of doom and dread. If I drink alcohol sometimes I’m reminded of my old self the next day. Alcohol has a tendency to inactivate the medicine (at least for me). If your suffering I recommend trying it for at least a couple months. It takes about a month to get through side effects and start working correctly

Thank you for talking so openly about taking this Zoloft. To anybody who was like me and just sitting staring at the bottle scared to take the pill......just do it. I just started taking 25mg of Zoloft per day for about 4 days and I’m feeling way better already. Don’t do what I did and just take it. The sooner the better. So far the only symptoms I have gotten were a light headache and some insomnia. Although I must say.......results may differ. I started taking it for my panic disorder. Recently it’s been hell for me, having 5-6 panic attacks a day for about a week. Some even lasting hours. I was basically bedridden unable to function at all. There was so many times where I just wanted to give up so bad and go to the hospital. But I stood strong and you can too. Don’t be scared to take Zoloft. I’m almost certain that you will look back afterwards and asks yourself why you didn’t start sooner.

@@joshtuk well it been about 2-3 weeks of taking Zoloft 25mg and I can’t even notice anything close to side effects. They disappeared 3-4 days after I started taking them. As for my panic attack, they have for the most part disappeared while at home. But if I do go into a stressful situation I don’t feel like it really helps me that much. But I’m still on the lowest dose possible. And that was the point, I was never intended to stay on 25mg. I’m expecting to go up to 75mg personally. But I need to start small and work my way up. But even on the lowest dose I have seen drastic improvement already. If I do get panic attack they are not that intense as they were before taking Zoloft. If you are taking Zoloft and you are still getting panic attack in the first few days or more, that is because it takes time for the medication to build up. It takes about 2-6 week to even see effect close to what it suppost to be. So don’t be discouraged if your depression/anxiety doesn’t change in the first week or two. Also ask you doctor for a drug called hydroxyzine. Look it up for full details if you are wondering. But it is a anti-histamine that has effects that helps reduce panic and anxiety. My GP prescribed me that to take the edge of my panic attacks till the meds kicked in. It is not addictive and is not like Xanax. You take it as you need it(as needed every 8 hours) So if you feel a panic coming on you just pop the hydroxyzine and it will help a lot like it did for me.

@@joshtuk Just in case you wanted to know more about my experience so far, I have moved up to 50mg every day now. My GP and me though it was the right choice and I'm already 3 days in with it. So far haven't gotten a single side effect to even talk about. And its too early to say anything about 50mg yet but I still feel great. I haven't even got a slight feeling of panic. Not even that weird anxious on edge feeling. Like when your about to start having a panic attack soon. And that's great considering how REALLY bad my anxiety was about a month ago. Not to mention having it since I was a young child. I pretty sure I was having anxiety induced depression too. I felt just completely out of energy, low, tired, slightly hopeless, and completely lost interest in the things I did all the time. But I'm glad to say that zoloft not only helped my anxiety but that too. Its kinda perfect that SSRI can treat both at the same time. Also I hope if you have to take it too you have as good of an experience as me so far.

This is really positive. I’ve suffered with anxiety now for the past 18 months or so. And no matter how bad it got, I was the same with medication, always pulled a face when it was mentioned. I have been with a therapist now for just over a year and although I sometimes I have my terrible days, I’m much better overall but still feel like I can’t cross the final hurdle of overcoming my anxiety. I’m a little more optimistic with starting medication after watching this.

Thanks for sharing your story. My doctor also prescribed me Zoloft to treat anxiety and depression which I developed only severely about 3 months ago. I have put off taking the medication until now because I guess I was scared too take it and I wanted it to be the absolute last option. Now I am at a point where I have tried everything including counciling, meditation, exercised regularly for years ,eaten well for years, taken time off work about 3 weeks because mentally I couldn't cope, spent time with family interstate, but I still have unwanted symptoms. I have a slight dizziness symptom,a soreness behind my eyes, bit of tightness in my jaw,my brain kind of hurts at times..I really hope Zoloft will get rid of these symptoms. Your video has really helped me make my decision easier. Thanks and I look forward to the next update

Hi Shannon, thank you for your message. I definitely think its worth trying if you have tried every thing else. What I would say though is keep up the meditation, exercise and counselling if you can whilst you're on the tablets. It will help you get through the low much quicker. If the medication works for you, you will feel so much better and doing those other things will be so much easier and beneficial. I never thought I'd feel confident coming off them but actually I think I will in the next month or so as I feel ready. Will definitely put this in another update video. Thanks for the support and keep me posted with your journey.

@@joshtuk Hi Rishi I am a lot better now for a few reasons. I was diagnosed as having SSCD (semi circular canal dehiscence) which is basically bone erosion to a small bone in your inner ear which has tiny hairs that regulates your balance. Because of the hole my brain is getting mixed signals and I am using a lot of energy to stay upright. This explains the dizziness, fatigue and slightly gazed sensations I feel. Since diagnosis my brain has adjusted and it is a lot more tolerable. I have been on and off zoloft twice. I am burnt out due to a decade of a very demanding job. I experienced brain fog, loss of productivity, a sort of OCD but with no energy or confidence to fix or clean the things bothering me, even the smallest chores felt like mountains, just severe stress. I’m at about 1 month now on Zoloft. I can’t say I feel great but I’ve noticed a lot less irritability and have more of a can-do attitude. It’s a good start. Also looking for a different job. Side effects I felt were headaches, dry mouth, and kind of a pressure in my brain. I’m also having trouble finishing with the wife, and can only sleep 5-6 hours. Nothing too bad though. I take it in the morning. Hoping to see more positive effects.

Your video is very helpful and you are a chill humble guy. I have PTSD after surviving a corrupt boot camp and domestic violence. I was prescribed zoloft but very reluctant and nervous to embark on the journey of SSRI’s. I can tell by the way you carry yourself it’s benefited you and reduced your anxiety but in your eyes you look medicated and that’s what I worry about is being a zombie from this and losing pieces of my personality. SSRI’s I tried plenty before and had nothing but bad experiences so fingers crossed this works out and hopefully this nausea isn’t that bad, it’s hard to go thru the 4-6 weeks of dreadful side effects to get to the full effect. This is why I preferred benzos like Klonopin and Valium cause they act so instantly to curb anxiety but my doc refused to continue the script.

I’ve started Sertraline myself a week ago. The side effects have been pretty mild for me. Just sleepiness (it’s actually felt like better sleep for me) and needing to nap. To be honest, the sleepiness could have even been from my first Pfizer jab that I had had earlier last week too. Am curious to see how noticeable the positive effects on my anxiety and mood are going to be at this 50mg daily level of Sertraline. I’d be happy with a little more optimism like you describe and the ability to tackle my problems. I wasn’t able to do so through meditation alone. But maybe together :) Thanks for putting yourself out there with this video. With some of the comment I’ve seen when sorting by ‘Newest first’, it’s obvious there’s still some stigma out there. Along with the proactive weirdos that are going to spam their anti-“big pharma” screed in the comments of every video about this type of treatment, probably without even watching the video of your own experience.

I also respect it's not for everyone however I am aware that Sertraline and Zoloft is one of the top ten prescribed drugs in the UK and US so there are a lot of people out there being under supported on their journey with these medications. Thank you for your video. I just started almost a week ago and the first side effect that scares me the most is the lack of sex drive. It's like sex doesn't matter to me anymore. The doctor didn't mention this to me and I'm quite worried that it won't come back. I wanted to stop and I skipped a day. Worst mistake. I had nausea and migraine and when I took the pill, everything came back to normal.

Hi Kay, thanks for your message. Loss off sex drive and libido is super common. I did experience it but only a few months into being on the meds. I think for me it was more lack of mood and frame of mind at the time but yes it was quite noticeable and I know quite a few people who experience this. I think the good thing is that as soon as you stop taking the meds it reverses to its not for life. I think its key to focus on getting mentally fitter first. But your sex drive will definitely come back! Keep well xx

@@sagar203 hey bro, honestly don't be worried, it's been a year and a half and I think I'm at a place now where I want to get off, so far I've cut down from 2 tablets (100mg) to 1.5 tablets, my life has turned around since I started it. Bro I'm telling you I couldn't pick up the phone March April last year and talk to someone because my anxiety would cause palpations, dry mouth, intense shaking, unsteadiness and fear. I got onto it and by December (with 6 sessions of cbt) I was confident again, I went to all sorts of group gathering (to prep for my final medical exams) I went to the exam absolutely SMASHED it, I was so surprised at how confident I was. These clinical exams were very presentation based, and since then till now Ive been able to teach to groups of kids online (due to covid there's all these online tutoring services) no anxiety at all, and i got my first career full time job, again no anxiety during my interview with a panel of doctors. I do get doubts here and there just before being in those anxiety provoking situations but I've become OK with just jumping in now, that when I am in that situation I am calm and in control. So il be starting my first day tomorrow, and in a month once all settled in I'm going to cut down to one. I can keep u updated, but so far I haven't had any problems. Oh and btw just do note, in terms of libido you'll feel less interested however it won't be disabling or anything so don't worry. But I noticed libido kicks in back to usual as you cut down. So it's all cool. I'm hoping to completely off it by end of this year. I'm real glad I went on it. I'm myself again and now it's all paying off. I truly empathise with where you are and I would recommend it, don't be afraid, I remember first month I was. But apart from a few initial symptoms initially, I was totally fine. It is worth it. If you want, just comment back and we can track how it all goes. I hope you benefit from this journey as i did. No one deserves to suffer from the shit we have been going through.

I experienced the worst anxiety and depression along with OCD and intrusive thoughts. It crystallized and every waking thought and dream was related to the girl. It was the worst suffering. I had to finally quit my job as my mental health was more important than money. Therapy didn't seem to make much difference and only the Sertraline has been helping ease the anxiety. I am going to take a few months to try and get over this girl. It is embarrassing for me and the girl doesn't want to know me anymore.

Hey, thanks for the video. I’m currently on day 9 and my side effects are starting to go. I didn’t have dry mouth but the tiredness was unreal, was sleeping about 10 hours at night and still needing an afternoon nap. felt sick for about 4 days but that’s gone now. I don’t feel as “zoned out” anymore. How are you doing now? X

Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing anxiety-stress. For a relaxed life without anxiety-stress sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your incoming--outgoing breath and body sensations for 10-15 minutes twice daily. Be as still as possible. Plenty of thoughts will come which is ok--slowly negative thoughts will reduce and your mind will relax with no desire for pills. Mind is reprogrammed. Hey Jordan, thanks for the message. I know it can be daunting but if you decide to start, just take one day at a time. You have to accept your body will experience side effects during the first few weeks but then they will ease. They don't last a long time and if they do then you should speak to your doc about a different variation as maybe they don't agree with you. All the best

My anxiety was so bad that I couldn't even call a doctors office to set up an appointment for anything until I was 33 years old. My insomnia became so bad I couldn't work or drive safely, huge family problems going on too. Family never supported me seeking help. That hurt. ADHD plus social anxiety that causes severe speech problems that makes me embarrass myself so bad I avoid places, even have my lights or water cut off because I couldn't bring myself to walk in and pay my bills out of bad anxiety. People don't understand how bad this gets. A single guy who can't pick up women very often always looks bad, I don't know how many times people ask "the question " which is just all the more insulting and misunderstanding of my anxiety. I used to drink heavy, no more of that. Just tried Zoloft for 1st time yesterday. Hopefully I don't have bad side effects. 25mg.

@@riship88 every time I try to wean off Zoloft I experience nocturnal panic attacks. They usually wake me during a dream that jolts me out of bed with such a feeling of dread & the inability to breathe - very scary. I guess it’s kind of withdrawal effect. Zoloft is a life saver since other meds usually only help with depression. Prozac & welbutrin did not help with my anxiety. It depresses me that I have to take this medication probably for the rest of my life - Zoloft healed me from these nocturnal panic attacks, but I always feel somewhat depressed. I have real trouble e joying life.

Hello James, My Dr did advise me that sertraline would reduce "romantic urges", and that has been true. My age, 64, might be a contributing factor as well. The overall benefit of taking it, however, is a trade off I'm willing to live with. I am very much at ease in public now. Best wishes! Mark

Strange i know. 5mg day one 5mg day 2, day three 7mg, day 4 10mg, and so on and so forth until i got to 25mg then slowly had it increased to 50mg over a period of 3 months. It worked like that for me and i managed to avoid all the side effects.....baby steps can work...
