I've been finger detangling for months now and its one of the best decisions I've made for my hair. The last time I put a comb in my hair was January and that was because someone else was doing my hair. Before that it was December and again, someone was doing my hair lol. Before that, I 'quit' the comb sometime in October and my length retention has been better. Now, do I need a comb? No. However, there are some styles that are easier achieved with a comb but its not really needed and the longer your hair, the easier I think going combless will be. Might take more time to detangle with your fingers, but styles like buns will be easier to do in MY experience. But I will say, sometimes I want to comb my hair and I probably will (maybe like once a month) cause I actually find it relaxing...annnd sometimes I just want the easier way out...not that finger detangling is by default, hard. Another thing that I started doing was cutting commercial shampoo. I use vinegar instead and you have many other alternatives to choose from. Now, I hate shampoo and the way it makes my hair feel. Since then I have no need for conditioner. The only reason I have to go back to shampoo and conditioner is just the fun I find in doing it and the smells cause some of then smell really good. Another thing I dont do is use a lot of stuff in my hair and thats just a personal thing. I dont think it contributed to my hair health and growth. I stick to olive oil and rarely any other kind of oil and I use water. I used to do normal water and olive oil but now I put glycerin in the water and spray my hair and thats for moisture purposes...I actually started out using normal tap water but I found that it was too hard for my hair so I now only use bottled water. The tap water I have is soooo hard. When you boil it, white stuff forms on top (calcium) and my pots are left with white powder...its that bad. and even the shower head had white stuff on it from the water. If I do use other stuff in my hair its on rare occasions and thats typically if I need to. for example gel...if i ever use it, itll only be to get my hair to lay down more but luckily Im yet to have need for that. Oh, speaking of, I'm actually planning on trying homemade flaxeed gel so I dont have to use the commercial ones cause im considering doing other stuff that my usual look...(HUGE MAYBE) from twists mostly and cornrows to curly styles cause im bored and curious to see what my hair can do. If not then ill just use the gel casually. P.S. I'm not a natural girly...Im a guy so whatever the term is for us lol. Someone should come up with one.

Wow, your routine is amazing. Finger detangling and minimalism does make a huge difference. It's nice to see a guy having a hair regimen and trying grow their hair. As for the term for you guys, let's keep pondering over it 😂

Hair type is my challenge how to determine which one I have

It depends on how thick or thin your hair strands are. Coarse hair strands are thick while fine hair is thin

To be honest I'm almost 8 months post relaxer myself because of life, kids etc. i will relax my hair in a week when I don't have to rush etc. Sometimes it's best to maintain your strands & listen to your hair. I've been wearing braids refresh every 6 to 8 weeks.

Can I use a protein conditioner to replace a protein treatment
@Hairlistabomb
@Hairlistabomb 4 ай бұрын
Yes, you can. Though a protein treatment is more intensive than a deep conditioner and would be preferable if your hair needs a lot of protein.
