Allow me too sum it up for you. You will never buy another PS3 game again. Sony will continue to remake PS3 games, to resell them like this for PS5. It's just that simple, it's business. "Who asked for this game?" Literally nobody is the awnser. However the community is asking for PS3.... PS3.... PS3!!!! So instead of releasing them on the PlayStation store cheap for PS5 only. Their going this route to charge $70. They will slowly convert most PS3 games, all the great ones, to PS5 titles.

If this was a $10 upgrade for owning the PS4 remaster it would've been criticized but probably could've also been praised. However, them charging SEVENTY dollars, which is MORE than the original game, which had to make all the environments, the character models, record the dialogue, direct how scenes would play out, dialogue, which areas the character would encounter, how the game would play, the games mechanics, the weapons chosen, the enemy designs, etc from scratch is inexcusable. I'll be voting with my wallet, and hope that any one even somewhat on the fence to hold off. I'm hoping this remake doesn't sell like hotcakes because then it'll be nothing but shoddy remakes for all eternity.

The AAA space had died off long ago. But the indie space is booming with excellent single player titles. I've played a few and found them to be excellent. Katana zero , jet lancer , Hong Kong massacre , deaths door , little nightmares 1 and 2 , hades , 12 minutes , ghost runner , Servered steel , inside , mark of the ninja they were all great. Some even better than AAA releases. AAA games and big company games are either driven by their greedy CEO s or so called fanboys. The indie is where lies innovation.

Hey Robin, just had to say that I've been subbed for many years. Just had to say that you've been such a friendly face to see not only back then, but now. You're like the genuine, good times, nostalgia KZbinr for me. Anyway, glad ur back for a sec, gonna watch the vid now! *After Watching* There's a lot to cover but essentially I agree 100% with your takes. These past couple years have been so dry and unenjoyable. The $70 price tag is really just odd, especially since it seems that every game company is facing backlash for at least one thing. So to make such a bold ask is really weird. The only game I've really felt like I could spend $70-100 like you said for a genuine quality game was Elden Ring. Despite being Dark Souls, it really felt like a structured, solid game (and I'm not really big in souls games either). The only way this remake and price tag would make sense and 100% sell millions is if this was the one and only remake we get, no remaster. Generally, I wouldn't say it's a waste of resources since we get to see a nostalgic story retold, but again, as you said, we. don't. need. it. It's time for something new. The game industry has def been pushed in a direction that the majority of gamers can''t really follow anymore. Game livestreams (Game Awards, E3) are stuck in a "modernized past" where they constantly try to announce games that people just don't fall for any more like they did in the og xbox and PlayStation and Wii days. Starfield is a prime example too. This game has been floating around for years and when we finally get a trailer, it's unironically in 5 fps (I know it's Bethesda but the idea is still the same). Anyway, those are my thoughts (pretty exact to yours). Glad to have you back once again and as for the direction of ur channel, just follow how you feel, especially with you're idea of choosing vid worthy news and rando topics. Happy to see ya whenever! You were indeed the biggest ambassador for Naughty Dog multiplayer games - and respectively their single player aspects too of course. It's quite trendy to critique Naughty Dog games and the studio's decisions now... But you were doing it wayyy back when, as early as 2011 or so. I often chimed in on an older KZbin channel I had and if I remember right, you dropped some comments and support on my videos too. Furthermore, while I did know about your second channel, I didn't know you would delve into that type of content. I am also enjoying Better Call Saul and ALSO had a prejudice towards anime 🤣. I agree about gaming being at a standstill right now. I’ve sorta unintentionally moved away from gaming as it seems like now the only games I play are catalog titles that I’ve already played countless times. I feel like even in the multiplayer spectrum, games have just not been any fun to play right now. I really have no idea what people who are still actively playing games now are even playing. For example call of duty has been on the back burner recently, same with battlefield. It seems to me like people are just playing games that have already been popular for the past 5 or more years such as GTA. At this point I don’t even remember when I actually left gaming but I’m pretty sure it was after the last of us 2 because that was the last big thing I remember playing. And that was like 2 years ago at this point. Maybe it’s just coincided with me growing up and finding interest in other things but it’s really unfortunate.

Agreed 100% . This is just a money grab by Sony. Tbh the only people I really see benefitting from this release will be the people who actively used the accessibility features of Part 2, those accessibility features lowkey do make me want to try out a completely blindfolded playthrough of it to see how different the experience is. But other than that, all it really is, is 70 bucks (130 Australian if you can believe) for what is essentially The Last of Us Remastered in a new engine with slightly improved AI and no Multiplayer, Dodge, or prone. And on the subject of Dodge and Prone, I don't really buy the excuse that they didn't want to include it because it was never part of the original vision for the game. Cause really early gameplay footage of the first game shows a build where at least Dodging was a planned mechanic, you can look it up, and as for Prone I don't really see how that would be a gamebreaking thing, if anything it would/should have added more variety to how you can approach any given situation, and it would make the AI even more tough to get around, as they would have to check under trucks, in tight corners, behind dumpsters. having Prone was what gave Part 2's gameplay such insane variety, so it certainly feels strange that they went to the effort to build the game in part 2's engine, but didn't bother to try and rebuild some of the encounters to account for Prone crawling. I dunno, for me I think I'll wait for the 10th Anniversary next year to pick it up cause maybe there will be a big enough price drop at that point. seems odd to me that they didn't save this game for the 10th Anniversary anyway.

I'm curious how this game came to be because I've heard stories that another Sony first party studio wanted to remake Uncharted Drake's Fortune initially but it would've been too expensive to make. After that rejection they proposed remaking TLOU and were working on it until Sony decided to give the project to Naughty Dog instead. Someone at Digital Foundry said this game will supposedly be a "pipe game", a game more meant to get the employees familiar with the new hardware so that their next project can push the envelope more (like how the Remastered in 2014 helped prepare them to push the envelope with Uncharted 4, Lost Legacy, and TLOUII. Again, those were rumours I heard but who knows, because for a team like Naughty Dog I don't think they'd put themselves into a scenario like this without getting something beneficial out of it, whether it be experience with the hardware or experience with the new management in thier efforts to stop crunch (which they succeeded, Thank goodness).

I agreed with them not including multiplayer in the Nathan Drake Collection, and I still agree with it now as well as this. It doesn't make any sense to split your player base. If PS4/PS5 players want to play the old factions, it's free on PS+ anyway. Also, Uncharted 4 multiplayer was awesome.

Based on the video Naughty Dog released recently about what the remake includes, they didn’t add a single thing to the story nor did they change the level design, gameplay mechanics, or anything that isn’t cosmetic, related to haptic feedback, or AI improvements. It will have smoother and prettier gameplay, better audio, Dualsense features and an AI that’s a bit more reactive. That’s about it. Nothing worth $70 and nothing that will drastically change the experience for anyone that’s already played through it 2-3 or more times like a lot of people.

This remake was nothing more than just a way to get the franchise back into the minds of the public, to fill the void of lack of new content from ND, to appease people who hated Part 2 and as a means to market the show to the fans and the game to the fans of the show. That said, this is the best version of the game minus the fact that it doesn’t include factions, the melee combat feels more weighty and slow and (in my opinion) Tess looks too old.

Its so amazing to see you again!!!! Ive been keeping up with you since 2014, its so refreshing to see you back on this channel! Looking forward to your upcoming content, whenever it comes out :) Honestly, I feel the same way. The remake looks amazing graphically, but it seems pretty clunky gameplay wise, similar to the fist. The didnt redo the gameplay like they implied, the shading looks too dark, there's nothing new added. Its not really a remake, just a graphical remaster. Coat the old graphics with the new and sell it. The gaming industry has been heading that bad direction, and I think Naughty Dog themselves are trying to lead that charge. The way they made the DLC for U4 become standalone, the way they wouldn't add factions to TLOU2 and made it standalone, the start of the tlou tv show and remake, the way they didnt add multiplayer to the nathan drake collection, its crazy. Not a single other developer is doing anything similar to this. Theyre actively splitting up their products into pieces and selling them bit by bit. Theres not a single promise that's been made by Naughty Dog in the past 7 years that hasnt been broken and/or mixed in with lies. Moreover, theyre the only ones who've been smug about it. All developers talk up their games and projects, that's not wrong. But look at their responses to any criticism they've gotten. Its crazy to say the least.

New R & D assets must be justified. And the millions of copies that will be sold justifies these new assets. So it’s not really a waste of time.

KZbin's notification feature really is ass. I COMPLETELY forgot I was already subscribed to your Robinoyo channel (with the notification bell on) and I haven't seen a notification for your videos there in months. I'm definitely planning on watching your Better Call Saul videos!

I'm an Oldie. In the 80s when I first started playing games (Intellivision) games were made by gamers for gamers. Since gaming is now mainstream and it's a huge industry, the monied parasites have taken over - especially the big publishers Activision, EA, Ubi etc. These companies make games purely for profit for the shareholders - rather than making a product they can be proud of. Endlessy remastering old games is the cheaper easier thing to do and the expected profit is huge.

Oh wow, didn't expect a new video, a welcome surprise. Got so used to hearing you talk about anime that it almost feels surreal seeing you talk about gaming again 🤣. But hey, at least we got the Plague Tale sequel coming, which is cool for us linear story based games fans. Love the new approach on the second channel btw.

So glad to have you back Robin, you've also been killing it with the AoT Reactions. You should really go back to Indepth analysis and reviews for games and the industry, they were fantastic!! So many incredible games that have released that push that narrative envelope like Before your Eyes and Omori. Check em out man! 😊

Getting one of my favorite games of all time get an update, even if it’s just graphical is something I’m not gonna complain about. If the games runs smoother than it did, then even better. I needed a reason to go back into that game because I love it that much. So I’m glad naughty dog is making it. That being said, I don’t plan to pay anything over $30 for it. And the way game prices drop nowadays, I’m sure it’ll be within the year that it gets that low.

I disagree, the best games are the ones where the game is designed more as a sandbox or the mechanics allow you tell your own story, or just really experiment with the mechanics, like Bethesda, or Zelda, Halo or Elden ring, dragons dogma… they play to the strengths of the medium… but don’t get me wrong story games are fun, but I don’t think they are representing the best of gaming.

Bethesda? You mean the other awful company who can't make content anymore. Lol.. I'd say the company who did new Vegas for them is better
@Jack_Crenshaw2 жыл бұрын
I don't think he meant it like that. Rather the vast majority of games with a good/intriguing story have gameplay that complements it, its why single player story diven games are good. Don't get me wrong those games are good but for different reasons because they are rpgs. And there are tons of rpgs that are up there that rival some of the ones you mentioned.
@shawnshields5212 жыл бұрын
This is pure opinion. I strongly disagree if you look at the history of gaming and the games that stood the test of time while pushing the bar. Few were open world and gave you real choice unless you're looking at pc. Bioshock, COD, Halo, Gear of War, Rainbow 6 (Vegas 1 and 2), Ghost Recon (prior to wildlands and breakpoint), Doom, Ratchet and Clank, Mario. I mean, there are tons that pushed the bar with just single player story that wasn't open world nor gave you choice. Even Assassin's creed you couldn't really choose until Odyssey.

I see what you're saying..."open world" titles have dominated the conversation awhile now, but shorter, AAA single-player experiences have become fewer in number. (well, there are the indie ones and other things like Returnal which has a story that is open to interpretation). I do think the omission of MP is odd, but it seems like ND doesn't want to keep throwing endless efforts and money into maintaining a past that is not necessarily going to bring them a good rate of return. The sad part is that we may all be saying goodbye to TLOU MP if somehow factions 2 ends up being worse than the original (and we've seen this already with Uncharted MP as well as in other franchises, e.g. MGO2 vs MGO3).

All the noise about this remake reminds me of when a bunch of Steam users decided to form a boycott group for COD MW2 in 2009 because the game wouldn't have dedicated servers. Wanna take a guess what 99% of that boycott group was doing on launch day? Playing their copies of MW2. Chances are if someone is complaining about a game out loud like they do in these comment sections, they'll still get it on launch. Whether its out of hypocrisy or "wanting to be part of the conversation," they'll grab a copy. The people that actually won't be buying this game already made their decision weeks ago and moved on. You aren't hearing from them anymore. Its just the future sales talking in these parts.

@jamisanders86122 жыл бұрын
Yes, we can argue that the remake or rebuild is unnecessary but I’m not totally against it. I am against the price tag. $70 for a nearly 10 year old game that, like you said, won’t even have the multiplayer now? I can understand maybe $40,$45 or maybe even $50, but $70? They’ve got to be out of their minds with that price. Naughty dog has fallen so far from where they once where and have lost touch with what’s important.
@mediamaniac8982 жыл бұрын
Amen! If it cost less, and included EVERYTHING the 2014 remaster did, and is built from “the ground up”, I could get behind it. But it doesn’t look all that different.

I’m so disappointed with how the last of us was treated, ND was a blessing for TLOU but ultimately they killed it for me and a huge group of fans
@zionsimanian93102 жыл бұрын
Every time I hear new news surround TLOU I become more and more disenchanted with the game and my many memories of TLOU 1. I guess it’s time for us fans to realize that the developers aka Neil Druckman had no respect for us and will continue to believe his own fantasies. This is the exact same scenario that Star Wars fans and Star Trek, the Lord of the Rings and many more are facings. What a sad sad time for entertainment. I was a die hard fan of tlou 1 factions and was on the leader boards top 300 for clan size, I can confidentially say that it will take a miracle for me to support anything Neil Druckman makes including TLOU 2 factions
@crazyinsane5002 жыл бұрын
@@zionsimanian9310 Funny enough, in *all* of these circumstances it comes down to "People who don't care or may even hate the license are working on it." TLOU had Neil Druckmann, who didn't contribute to TLOU1 in any meaningful capacity and it shows in Part 2. Star Wars is infamous for the directors applying their approach to the story, rather than continuing the story. Star Trek is infamous for Rick Berman. The Lord of the Rings show is probably going to get slammed because of heavy corporate interference and just a general lack of caring about a setting the author cared so much about he developed in-universe languages for it and turning it into another Wheel of Time/Earthsea generic fantasy. They don't need fans to handle these things, they just need to listen when rumors abound with "Yeah, no, the Director's just doing this for paycheck" are running among the crew.

My only answer would be that it's not a waste of resources based on the amount the game will sell. Once the TV show comes out, it could reach a million new people (just a random number). It might spark the interest of people who have never played the game and want to give it a try. Now they don't have to buy a 10 year old game, a polished brand new version is there waiting to be played, along with TLOU2.
