I just uploaded an updated version kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWOzqGVtftargrs Thanks for watching! Turn on subtitles if you have trouble understanding my speaking. And I want to add one more thing that stretching is very important! Make sure you stretch every time before you dance, not only it’ll make your moves less stiff but also will prevent injuries. Thank you!!

Tips from a self-taught dancer. I was literally the worst dancer in history. I was stiff, my limbs are all over the place, power was missing, my facial expression sucks and my smoothness was missing too. I started dancing in July 2018 because everyone told me I suck at dancing :( I watched tutorials and danced almost every day because I just want to. A month later, my classmate told me I am great at dancing, which is weird considering people laugh at how stiff I was before. Now, In my own house, I dance with pace, emotions, and talent. I still can't perform to large crowds though since I have stage fright, but I can tell you, I'm now better than before. TIP 1 Practice whenever you want. You can't force yourself to practice when you're tired, practice whenever you feel the music. Trust me this works a lot because not only you are learning, but you are also feeling it (lol Idk what I'm saying) TIP 2 Look at mirrors, if you don't have a mirror, grab one from your wardrobe lols. This method is really useful since you will be able to see how your dancing looks like and you can adjust your body movements depending on how you want to dance. TIP3 Watch tutorials and dance cover. I find this very useful since I am very observant. Try and recognize techniques from other dancers. TIP 4 Don't stress yourself. As I mentioned before, practice if you want to. Don't force your body if you're not in the mood. TIP 5 Have fun and don't give up. Before I got into dancing, I used to hate it, now, whenever I hear the music, I can't help but dance along. ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE HEHE. Update: I will try to post a Kpop dance and include tips and facts about dancing in the month of October. UPDATE : So yeah. I haven't posted a cover lmao. But I did try out for a contest at our school. I posted it in my channel. Please refer to the description box though.

@@anni3496 Trust me, I dealt with it. I've had anxiety, stage freight and more, but don't get discouraged. Practice dancing alone in your room if you'd like. Never ever give up. No matter what. Everyone used to laugh at me whenever I dance but that didn't stopped me. You should follow whatever you want because you deserve to be happy. If you don't know what to do or what path to take, think back and talk to yourself. What would you want? Like, do you want to dance? Cause if so, girl, you better build walls and be strong. We're always here (the under-appreciated community). You are amazing, and that passion and doubts that you have is what will turn you to be a good dancer. Why? Cause you notice things and listen to them. You're a great dancer. Believe in that. And let loose. That's what turned me into a dancer.

i wouldn't call myself a great dancer but i do have a strong passion for it. i've been dancing for a year now and i remember really enjoying it and just vibing to the beat of the song. i loved to dance, and i wanted to take classes, but considering the situation that i was in at that time, i could not. months later, i started to dance to kpop. that was when a few people started to criticize me and my dancing, commenting on the way i danced or how i looked like this and looked like that. at first, i didn’t take it personally. but as time progressed, it slowly dragged me down. i stopped dancing for about one month because i was losing my confidence. i stopped joining practices and i stopped practicing at home. eventually, i got my confidence back. i continued to dance and people compared me to others and commented on my dancing, but i learned not to take them personally. anyway, what i'm trying to say is that you should never let your guard down. find your passion, and don't let others drag you down and rip you apart. it may be hard at first, but it's worth it in the end ♡

i started doing covers just for fun about 3 years ago. i kept going because my 1st cover turned out way better than i expected. another tip i'd add is not to get discouraged if you do well and then your next cover isn't better than your previous one. like, progress isn't just going up all the time, it has its ups & downs. i never get many views. maybe i'm not that good, maybe i just don't know how to promote myself or maybe i just don't appeal to people but i really love seeing myself improve. i have to admit i do get sad sometimes as i put so much effort but these days there are so many people that do covers that it's hard to become popular.

I'm also a self taught dancer and our house is very small but I did it, I am now officially a dancer. I started in August 2018. Here is what I did. I DIDN'T ENROLL FOR ANY DANCE CLASSES UNTIL NOW AND COMPLETELY SELF TAUGHT. (I am from Philippines) 1. I PRACTICE EVERYDAY FROM 4PM TO 1:00 AM (AND I WILL WOKE UP AT 4:30 AM LOL). WHEN WEEKENDS I PRACTICED FOR 10 HOURS A DAY. 2. I DO STRETCHING EVERYDAY. 3. I ALWAYS REQUEST TO MY GRANDMOTHER TO CRITIQUE ME. 4. I TAKE CRITIQUES SERIOUSLY AND WOULD SOMETIMES CRY AND THAT MADE ME STRONGER TO HOLD ON IN BECOMING AN AMAZING DANCER. 5. I PRACTICE KPOP CHOREOGRAPHIES (MOSTLY BLACKPINK) REPETITIVELY. 6. AFTER 3 MONTHS OF DOING THOSE, I SAW SUPER GREAT RESULTS. I DANCE SMOOTHLY AND NOT STIFF ANYMORE BUT LACKS POWER, FACIAL EXPRESSION, FLUIDITY, CONTROL AND BOUNCE. I DIDN'T DO MY ROUTINES EVERYDAY AFTER 3 MONTHS AND WILL PRACTICE AND STRETCH WHEN I FEEL BORED AND WANNA DANCE. DECEMBER 2018, I MEMORIZE CHOREOGRAPHIES (VIDEOS) FOR 40 MINUTES TO 2 HOURS. MARCH 2019, I BUILD UP ALL THE REQUIRED THINGS TO BE A GREAT DANCER. NOW, I AUDITIONED ON AN ONLINE DANCE TEAM AND I PASSED SO I AM CONTINUING MY WAY WITH MY TEAM MATES AND I PERFORMED WITH THEM THRU VIRTUAL MEETINGS. SADLY, OUR CEO FACED A BIG PROBLEM AND OUR GROUP IS NOT ACTIVE ANYMORE. ALSO, I ALREADY QUIT OUR UNIVERSITY DANCE TROUPE AND WILL CONTINUE TO DANCE ON MY OWN:) ALWAYS BRING YOUR PASSION IN DANCING FOR BETTER RESULTS💖 EDIT: I AUDITIONED AT A DANCE TEAM NOT ON OUR UNIVERSITY LOL, I AM SO HIGH AT THAT TIME HAHAHA. I AM CASTED BY OUR UNIVERSITY DANCE TROUPE AND I DIDN'T AUDITION. I ALREADY EDITED IT LOL. DON'T GIVE UP GUYS! I'M CURRENTLY AN INACTIVE DANCER BECAUSE OF THIS ONLINE CLASS THING. SO MUCH ACTIVITIES TO DO. BUT I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT IT SO, I WON'T GIVE UP:) CHEER UP GUYS! PANDEMIC WILL END SOON, HOPEFULLY.

Tbh I used to think I was really good at dancing, since I’m really young and I started noticing how much better at dancing I was then everyone else my age and I always picked up choreo relatively easily since i found it easy to move my body in the ways you were supposed to. Then I started doing kpop random dance regularly, like I would really get into it and I would be practicing my moves In front of my tiny mirror for like 30 minutes a day, and I saw improvements really fast. I started getting really confident and I started really identifying myself as a dancer, and after that is just kind of went downhill, since I started practicing less and less I started getting a little stiff over time and my confidence dropped and the fear started to come in. Like part of my identity was that I was a good dancer, that I was talented, it was scary to feel like I was losing that. And the less confident I got the less I started to practice which is kind of funny because when you get worse you should practice even harder right? But for me it was the opposite because whenever I got up the nerve to practice I would always get really depressed and scared whenever I saw myself in the mirror, like I was losing something that had become such a huge part of me, even more so, it was something I took pride in and it hurt to know that I was losing that. Losing that part of me, but really it was my fault because I’ve always had a phobia of dance classes, I just had really bad experiences that later caused panic attacks whenever entering a studio, like I’d go into shock, I couldn’t talk, couldn’t move. Nothing. But now...I feel like I’ve adapted to being normal person who doesn’t dance exceptionally well like I used to, and that scares me more. I don’t feel sad or depressed when thinking about not being able to dance well, what if I lose my dancing forever? How do I get my confidence for dancing back? Sorry, that was hella long lol.

I know I'm late and I'm not much of a dancer but, I think since you picked up chorea easily in the past, if you start again, you will be able to improve even faster. For me, all I have to do is watch a bunch of dance covers, performances, or even competitions to get passionate again. I think you should move on from the past, tell yourself "Alright, let's restart this journey," find inspiration again that will make you say things like "aw I miss dancing like this" or "damn this seems cool, I want to try it." That's just what helps me get in the mood. It's different for everyone but I think finding inspiration is the key to lighting up your passion. You should start with following online tutorials first before going to a studio again. However, don't push yourself to dance every day if you don't feel like it. You shouldn't make a hobby seem like a job you don't want.

@@astrea6546 I get how you feel. Have you tried talking to them about the topic at all? If they're really you're friends, they wouldn't judge you or make fun of you. You just have to let them know confidently that you like to dance so they don't think its a joke. Just remember to not let other's opinions bring down something you are passionate about. Idk how your friends are like but even if they find it silly (idk why they would), you keep doing what you love. Maybe one day you'll find someone like you :)

Try other forms of self expression that you have no background in so that you allow yourself the freedom to be silly without expectations to be amazing. Then, try to make peace with your past and treat is as an example of your passion for dance that only now you realize it's strong and you want to pursue again. You're not in competition with others and others don't keep you accountable for forgeting a hobby and coming back to it as a passion. Ultimately, face your fears little by little. Taking action is the only sure way to overcome the fear.

You just need to dance literally EVERY SINGLE DAY- it doesn't matter if it's just 10 minutes or 3 hours it will be worth it. A little about my story. I have always loved dancing (and singing) even when I was in grade school. I was so flexible during those times that I could do stunts and b-boying as well as splits. In fact we created this little dance group and I was their leader and they're even afraid to go up against me in a dance showdown which we did all the time 😂 But as I was growing up in high school, I've started doing great in school academics that I lost my passion in dancing. I didn't even do stretchings anymore, gained weight, and basically lost my 'gift' of flexibility. Fast forward to the era when I started watching kpop, I've become interested again in dancing. I tried learning choreos, but I fell in love more with freestyle which I do a lot. So everyday I workout and give another 2-3 hours extra time for dancing (mostly freestyle). After like a whole month of dancing (I mean proper dancing where I check my position, timing and projection), I've noticed that I've become MORE fluid without exerting much efforts on certain executions. I think my body just kinda get used to the beat the more I dance. Learning a choreography can make you dance better, but I suggest that you start FREESTYLING first (you can watch videos on that for inspiration) because you're not only thinking of what move to do, you're also improving your ability to hear beat which can affect your rhythm in a positive way.

Don't let that stop you dancing! Dancing is fun, and especially when you can at last dance along to the chorus of a Kpop song you like, it's a great feeling. Your mum should have encouraged you, not said it was impossible, because it isn't! Whenever I've gone to dance things there's always been a lot of different people of different shapes/ages/genders etc. that go (I've gone to salsa, lindy hop, jazz and Kpop dance classes in my city), and I'm a lil bit chubby too. Dancing is pretty mentally tiring with remembering all the moves, so everyone's concentrating on themselves anyway. Basically, if it's something you'd enjoy (and that would keep you active), go for it! Or if you're really nervous, get a friend to go with you. You can practice in your room too, with all the dance tutorials on KZbin. Good luck!

Nothing, absolutely nothing is impossible. Don't let anyone convince you that. If you have passion for what you do, with proper instruction or teaching yourself right, you will be good at it. And don't worry about your body, i seriously doubt any of those people will be judging you, but rather thinking about how they can improve too.

12 is nowhere near too old! I only started dancing when I was 27 - there'll be plenty of dance classes out there for your age group, and lots of people try new things in their teens anyway so you won't be the only beginner (and dancing requires a lot of concentration to learn the moves, so people will only be focusing on themselves too - don't get embarrassed!) Good luck!

I personally think I can dance pretty good when I'm alone. But yesterday I had my first dance class and they were doing a choreography. They all learned like ⅔ already and I thought these parts myself by watching a video my friend sent me. I managed to do it, but as soon as the class started I was so nervous to even say that I learned the choreography. I'm so skinny and I'm really... like not ashamed of it but I feel uncomfortable showing or moving my body because of my figure :( I try to stay positive!

I know this is an old comment but I'm going through the same thing. I have been taking once a week dance classes for a while but really got motivation to start improving my dancing because of kpop. Whenever I'm at my dance class I feel so awkward and weird looking because I'm extremely thin. I'm known for being the awkward moving or looking one of the friend Group cause I'm tall and thin and that makes me really self conscious about my dancing

@@besosiriusrn I cant believe this comment is one year old.. but totally same!! I can totally understand you. At first I felt so awkward because I'm also tall and really thin (idk if I mentioned that in the replies), but I feel like it has definitely gotten better. After a few lessons I started to notice that nobody judges anyone. So I guess I became way more comfortable over the year, I even started doing a kpop cover with my friends there before Corona happened. So I guess it'll be alright♡ no one is gonna judge you and you will feel more comfortable on the future! I believe in you hehe♡

I started dancing abour 9-10 months ago and I've improvrd A LOT. From bring awkward about dancing more sexual dances, being stiff and scared i went to having pretty sharp moves and not stiff at all. Here are some tips from me: 1. Be confided. It feels awkward at first but if you're not gonna let loose then you're not going anywhere. 2. If you cant do the move right... Do it EVERYWHERE. going to shower? Practice it. Going to the kitchen? Dance along the way there. Dont forget the mirror, it helps a lot. Do that one move slowly, examine the move. You wont even notice when you perfect it. I did this with the hip stuff from baam by momoland. 3. Don't judge your dancing by filming yourself. Some phones aren't accurate enough and you end up looking like a chicken not because you are, but because your phone makes it look that way.

Thanks for the tips Susie! This helped a lot, been feeling incompetent lately about my dancing :( I’m 20 years old almost 21 and I just started dancing 3 months ago. Right now I’m learning mostly Kpop because it’s fun and I love it, but one day I want to be able to dance as well as, for example, 1millions dancers. I know they are experienced, hardworking dancers and I shouldn’t compare, but I can’t help but think “why am I around their age and can’t dance that well!”. it’s hard teaching myself because I end up getting sad while learning because I can’t get a move right. I have no one to tell me what to fix, but like you said, eventually I realize what it is and fix it myself. I’ll keep working hard though! Can’t wait to see my results as time goes on :)

Hi! Uh..I I just wanna say Thank You! Thanks for making this video, I recently turned 12 and I self taught myself how to dance when I was 9 cuz I wanted to learn random Kpop choreographies (mostly for fun) but I ended up locking myself in my room literally everyday to start dancing because I loved it! It made me feel happy somehow alive and I just find everything related to it amazing, (same as music but that's other thing lol) So I have been working on improving, of course if you compare my first Kpop cover to now you can see the difference, I used to take a video of myself dancing and then check the mistakes so I can fix them too. But really Thank You! This suddenly appears on my recommended UwU.
