A black MMT8 is pretty rare. Guess they made those to pair up with the HR-16B. I have the X3. Workstation version of the X5. I know a couple of people who stared with the grey one. Less sounds though. Was very useful at the time I bought it. Wild setup. Incredible possibilities with sound

Didn't realise black MMT8's were rare - and I've two of them. Didn't know there was a workstation version of the X5, what's it like for writing on? I really like the X5d/r, yeah great sounds, and the onboard fx are top class.

@@Crabby303 if you've ever sequenced on any Korg Workstation starting with the M1, it's all the same. Maybe the black MMT8s weren't that rare. I just never saw them in any of the music tech stores I used to frequent.

@@avace917 I've never used a Korg to sequence unfortunately! The only other MMT8's I've seen were grey in fairness, it'd be interesting to find out what the production ratio was.

​@Crabby303 - An MMT-8 was my Jam back in the day, but my RK-008 is just leaps and bounds ahead of the Alesis, 16 x the memory, so much added functionality, oh and it doesn't dump its memory at random.

I think you'd like the Octatrack. I got a mk1 on the cheap and it's really the greatest sampler for this kind of music. the way you use the MMT-8 reminds me a lot of the workflow. It's almost like all of this in a box.

Great video! Do you know if the MMT-8 receives sustained notes from a sustain pedal in the MIDI-keyboard? Mine doesn't notice them, sadly...

I don't think it does, I've never programmed them in via pedal anyway, and I don't recall seeing a reference to it in the manual. Must dig it out and check when I get home!

So what i can’t wrap my head around is if you hook up multiole midi devices how you daisy chain them.. just thru in to each one? Unless it doesn’t have a thru then use out? Love my mmt-8 tho

Good Q, I should have covered this - although most of the instruments have either in/out or thru, some (SampleTrak, SU10) are in-only. And the MMT-8 has only 1 out, so I use a MIDI-Man "Quadra-thru" box giving me 4 outs from the MMT-8

Both still ok memory-wise. The buttons lost conductivity years ago so I coated the connective pads inside with a conductive paste which worked perfectly. They sometimes spazz out if they reach max memory.

@@Crabby303 I'm a little romantic about the idea of a pair of MMT*s as a hub of a live system. I got mine as an Orbital fan. So great to see you still have a pair hanging on. A few years back I saw a review of the Squarp Pyramid, which apparently is based on the MMT8 x2 foundation, but with extra functions. I was tempted before heading down the MPC route.

What does the sound come out of a studio monitor i never see speakers please help!!!! I have an alessis sr18 and a korg volca bass where do I plug them in together to make noise lol I'm new to a dawless setup I have an old guitar amp is that what I use and what order to connect them

Hey so you need a mixing desk with a couple of channels to plug in your SR16 & Volca and whatever else, then run the mixer output to your amp or monitors. Hope this helps and you get jamming! I have a pair of monitors to the right of my setup, out of shot :)

you are genius having all this exceptional lame gears and just some legendary gears exactly where to just connect all this together to be a undefeated system is there any reason that you use a separate hardware for bass?why didn't you sample the bass too in the sampler?

Thanks! I like to use the sampletrak mostly for beats, also it only has 2 outputs so they are used for the breaks in this tune. I think the sound of the raw analog bass is better too, it has more low end I think..
