My Daughter had a sketch book she didn't want anyone to see. I thought she might be drawing stuff she thought was taboo. I did get to flip through it and the pictures were basically fine. No naughty, no drawings of horrific things. I think we had a discussion and she asked :"well if you had a journal would you want me to read it?". It was like seeing things a new way. Her drawings were just as intimate as writings. I could not interpret what made it that way but they were. It would be like if I wrote a journal in another language like Klingon where most people would not know what it says even if they could speak Klingon. I never looked at her journals but sometimes she would show me things. I learned something interesting and it was a new perception for me.

Why couldn't you just respect her boundary? Many people struggle to keep journals or make private art even into adulthood because their parents went through their stuff when they were a kid. What's so horrible about letting kids have private thoughts, even naughty thoughts? Even if she was being abused, you'd just be adding to her sense of violation.

@@pendlera2959 Mental illness runs in my family so does suicide. I did what I thought was right. I was not necessarily prying but I wanted to make sure she wasn't having suicidal ideations so there is your answer I didn't really want to give.

I love that she gets so much out of her journal, and that it means so much to her.

OMG, this reminds me of my "quotebook" in high school, in which i recorded for YEARS all the silly things and puns and stuff my teachers and class mates said. Some were extremely funny and I enjoyed reading them later on too. I wonder now where that book's gotten to... But I might pick up the habit again, especially as my youngest starts talking.🤭 Great idea, thanks!

@@lethbridgepaper I'd love to locate it, my kids would have a blast. Sadly I've moved countries of times since I last saw it and probably someone tossed it - it was really just a high school notebook 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love this! I've been looking for something to do when I've no journal entries to write, but want to play and be creative. I've also got a lovely standard TN with lovely inserts I don't use. Thank you. I'd love a video of you doing a page from blank please.

This is such a good idea. I love quotes and have collected them for years but just scribbled in the back of diaries and note books. This is very creative ❤

Thank you! Glad you liked it! I’m terrible of making a note of cool quotes so I’m hoping this will stop that going forward.

I don’t journal at all, but I could do this, and I have a lot of washi and stickers going to waste that I could use up.

Much better to get them on a page rather than let them go to waste!
