Great video! I'm 3 months into a bodyweight program I've gained a lot of strength and muscle. Month 4 calls for muscle ups and i thought maybe im not strong enough, but your video gave me assurance. I can do 10 pull ups no problem now. I realize its my explosiveness and skill that needs improvement. Thanks keeo up the quality content!

I can do 25 pull ups max effort. And 40 dips.. but can't do a single muscle up. Working on it tho.. starting today.

Honestly I think I love you... I did explosive pullups 2x7 3 days with a day in between and I was able to do my first muscleup. My record was 11 pullups before I started.

Jamie Tso Then I got supersick (not Corona) the week after and didn’t do anything and now I cant do it :( But after that I ekot grinding, my guess is I’ll be able to do it very soon again :)

I can do 15 pullups full range and do 18-20 with half reps. I tried high pull ups and its easy for me but i stuck with the transition i cant bring the chest close to the bar by bending forward. Also in my gym, there is no free pull up bar. I do pull ups in the cable pulley machine which have a bar attachment on top for pull ups and i can't grip it perfectly at shoulder width because there are two metal brackets on both side which holds the bar. Either i can grip a little below shoulder width or a wide grip.

Same, i do mainly hypertrophy training and weighted pullups for building thick back and tried doing muscle ups and can't even do one.

@@Jdrlifts thing is your 25 pullups probably arent even to your chin. I can do muscleups with perfect form no swing or kip and cant do 25 pullups in a row. Gotta pull higher like this guy is saying

@@chikkmagneet you are the reason why people give up. Instead of bringing people down push them through. Yes I can do 25 pull ups. First 20 are strict form, last 5 are with a little kip. I don’t have the skill to do a muscle up tho. So please stop bringing me down I’ve been working on it for 6 months and your comment is making me want to give up.

Jaceistheplace , I went from struggling to do 1 muscle up (bad form and inconsistent) to 3 in a row within 30 minutes after using the resistant band to better understand the motion. This just happened a few weeks ago, and now I can do 2 sets of 6 muscle ups. I was struggling with muscle ups before this at the strength level of 15 straight pull ups (max). So if you have not tried, using resistant bands might be helpful, since you are stronger than my starting point.

Thanks James for your video 10/10. I can not do any kip muscle ups . I can do all deep dips and pull ups. So i am using weights -pull down and row to get power for a strict slow muscle up.

I am so glad you mentioned the high pull up to be 2 reps. So many people on fitness channels continue to say, you need to do x sets of x amount of pull ups where x is greater than 2 or 3 and I am sure people tend to fail pulling high at the same intensity.

Hey I cant do more than about 4 good form slow pull ups to my chest and i can do the chicken wing muscle up. I wish I could do 10 perfect form controlled pull ups.

I can do 15+ pull ups, an extremely slow negative muscle up and still can't do a single muscle up....leaving it here for any beginners who think that its okey to don't train for explosive power like myself....pls don't do that ull regret it

Hi, very good info on the emoms. I got 1 question u recomend to do these 2rep high pullups emoms everyday before the workout? I train everyday basics sometimes endurance sometimes weighted .I can do the kip muscle up not the strikt one.

I was stuck at trying the explosive pullups over and over again, but this video give me a hella lot of motivation to mastering the muscle up this summer!! How many times a week do you suggest to train explosive pullups?

where is the park you train pull ups? not many parks got proper pull up bars in hk.

I did his program 2x7 every other day. I did my first muscle up today edit: I rested for 1 minute between the sets.

@@alyssalew1639 2 explosive pullups 7 times with a 1 minute rest inbetween. I did use a resistance band to get learn the transition between the highpullup and the dip. I was able to do 11 normal pullups before starting the 2x7 explosive pullups training. (Maybe with a little kip on the last 2 :)" It took my 5 days from watching this video to do my first muscleup without a resistance band.

I don't know mate, I can do 13 pull ups in a row and I can pull up till my lower chest but I can never find the right moment to do the transition and if I do I end up doing a chicken wing muscle up with one hand first, I reall don't know what to do.

I am almost certain that either your pullups don't have the right arc of motion for a muscle up, or else your hands are not transitioning the grip correctly, especially if you say you hit the chicken up 😉

XSpas10 have you tried doing jumping muscle ups to practise the timing or get a sense of how you should approach the transition? U can send a footage on instagram and ill spot you out from there .

This might be becouse you're doing them with bad form, mby try to record yourself and see how it look like from third person point of view and correct yourself, hopuffully that's the case and it'll help :) good luck!!!

@@Gabriel80309 thanks man i did that and it seems i still do climbing muscle ups without me noticing it and thats what puts alot of stress on my elbows, i will work on strength and probably work on form with resistance bands :)

jason that might be becos u are doing the push portion with too much internal rotation. I had elbow pain too when i started training for muscle ups. How about tucking ur elbows in when u pull instead of flaring them out?
