❓ is what is being unspotted from the world mean. I think people judge others sometimes because the holy spirit won't allow them to do certain things and they call them religious. Why is it that when you want to live like Jesus you get persecuted as being religious. Jesus got killed for being so called religious and so did the apostles. Jesus healed and said go and sin no more. We don't serve out of fear but out of love for Jesus. We don't walk on egg shells trying to not sin but we do work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. People judge people as being so called religious and the so called religious people don't have to say a word to anyone about how that person may be living. If there's a christian who's using profanity, when the Christian who doesn't use profanity comes around, sometimes the people look at them as thinking that they are better than them. Why? That's called conviction. Jesus said unless you are converted and become as a child you will not see the kingdom. Conversion means to repent. Repent means to turn away from. Turn away from what? Your old sinful life. That's not being religious at all. That's being Christlike. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 1 Peter 2:21‭-‬22 KJV Peace and remember faith is only made perfect through works. Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and BY WORKS was FAITH MADE PERFECT? Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. James 2:21‭-‬22‭, ‬24 KJV We don't work our way to heaven. The works are a result of your faith in Christ because you want to do those things that please Him.

If you're not 100% sure you will go to heaven I recommend you searching "bible way to heaven" on youtube and you can be saved today forever. Jesus likened salvation to drinking some water because that is how easy it is to be saved. Once the water is drunk you will never thirst again meaning once saved always saved. Have a good day

I love the message in this video. I was raised in a Christian home and church and a Christian Jr high/ high school that stressed the importance of faith over religion and that our faith in God is a personal relationship between the Christian and God. I've always lived in faith and not religion and I'm heart broken how many people call themselves Christian but are not living the faith, it's more of a religion to them and not a personal relationship like Jesus called us to. I think because I too have gone through many types of abuse in my past, and have seen God at work in my life since I was a child, the faith and personal relationship has always been natural for me. Even before accept Christ into my heart at age 9 I believed in Him and felt Him helping me through the scary times. Bless you and your family!!

I lost as you say or gave up my religion as I refer to it a long time ago. I now have a relationship in place of the religion I used to practice. James 1:27 says religion is not a bad thing. We should stop giving the term a bad rep. "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." This is what God's word has spoken. So it's not up for debate. Beware of man made philosophies and traditions, and the doctrines of men/demons!

I myself observe the original sabbath friday night to saturday night, but its not commanded by Jesus for He is the testator. And what Paul was saying I believe i understood this correctly the other day is both the rest from the old covenant laws, and the rest in heaven if we make it faithfully. God does condemn, He is a judge, he just doesnt want people to perish. He didnt sadistically create us to kill us, but some people choose death. Obviously false religions which teach that righteousness is earned by works are opposed to Christianity. Instead we should embrace "religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father" (James 1:27). Pure religion is "to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." James had a relationship with Jesus (they were brothers) but notice how James is not opposed to 'religion'. Faith and religion cannot be separated, just like faith and good works should never be separated (see James 2:17). Let's stop ditching good biblical words like religion, Christian, doctrine, tradition etc.

But I think that when we read scripture and how the Pharisees for example learnt whole chapters of the Bible, prayed for hours and did so many deeds to « deserve » God’s love and mercy(in other terms were religious), meanwhile we know that Jesus’ death alone is what gives us access to God and nothing a Man could could save his soul illustrates this quote indirectly.

They were not adhering to the law for God, but for themselves because it made them the righteous arbitrator. But scripture neither condemns or rebukes pure religion so the dichotomy is a false one.

@@jesuschristsaves9067 Alright. When I saw this quote, I thought it was quite fitting when I considered the more « modern » sens of the term religion/being religious. When it’s used to describe those people who are more focused on salvation by their deeds rather than by grace. So when I used to example of the Pharisees who were said to love displaying they’re « faith » (Mathew 23) and were also religious in the « modern » sens of the term (Luke 18:10-14) I wanted to illustrate that. Wrongly as you corrected me. That’s consequently why I believe the dichotomy when considering the « modern » connotations of the term isn’t entirely fallacious.
