Hey Ollie - thanks for sharing this experience. I've recently started on medication following diagnosis @ 32. Hearing about experiences like yours was a massive help through diagnosis and early treatment, and it's equally useful to learn about your long-term experience on-and-off meds. Appreciate the time you've put into these over the years.

In the same situation here in Ireland. I had no lucky with Elvanse or Atomoxetine and each appointment to try something new is £230 so there is only so many attempts i can afford as i have to have 6 months reviews for shared care guidelines here. Crazy expensive for the 30min slot appointment. Feeling your frustration

6 month reviews! Thats awful.. Sorry to hear that. Hope you get something sorted soon.

Keep up the good content..i received an ADHD diagnosis 5 months ago through psychiatry UK. They just contacted me this week to propose starting elvance. Im apprehensive to start and worried it's going to negatively impact my sleep as im currently taking mirtazapine which woks a treat.

Hey, thanks for your update. I'm in exactly the same situation, feel just like how you've described you feel. Very frustrating. Stuck in the 'subscription' of ongoing care issues as well. My thoughts are how can this be allowed to happen, why wasn't a back up care plan discussed and in place before we were allowed to run out etc, and why are we chasing those we pay for care etc, whistle struggling with our symptoms. All causes additional impact when it's hard enough as it is. Hoping you get meds soon and back on track. We've got this 💪🏻
@ollieedward64310 ай бұрын
Thanks man. I appreciate it! I've just managed to secure 28 days worth of Elvanse thankfully. You're so right about having to chase people, its been a frustrating few months..

Hi Ollie, thanks for your thoughts, I really appreciate your videos because I can relate a lot and it helps me cope with my problems! I‘ve tried L-Tyrosine and it has helped me noticeably (It‘s an amino acid that is the precursor for dopamine, hence having higher levels of it in your body might help with normalizing dopamine levels. There‘s not really a lot of evidence, though. I‘m taking 600-1200 mg/d.) Also sometimes the right amount of cardio can put me in the same clear mental state as medication, at least for a few hours. Wishing you all the best! Keep us posted how you‘re doing :)

Completely agree with how cardio helps to level my thoughts out for a few hours. I feel great and clear during it, too. Thanks for your comment. All the best my guy!

Thank you! I've just managed to secure 28 days worth of Elvanse and the pharmacy have said its now much more readily available for them to order in, which is great news!

Sorry to hear - I go to a ADHD support group with a local charity every few weeks and everyone was talking about how hard it's been. I ended up getting lucky with my GP and local pharmacy. I had just moved onto the shared care scheme with the GP with a prescription of 70mg daily lisdexamfetamine when the shortage happened. I had been ringing all the pharmacies with the same response of, "We can't get hold of that." Then one pharmacy said that they had been getting intermittent deliveries of 30mg. I spoke to my GP and they agreed to prescribe me 2x30mg a day rather than 70mg without speaking to my original psychiatrist. My prescription literally said "2 x 30mg while there is a shortage of 70mg".

Thats great, im glad youve managed to find a work around in the meantime! I have just yesterday managed to secure 28 days worth of Elvanse, it seems its becoming much more available for pharmacies to order

Vyvanse has been amazing for me. I’m running into issues which getting my prescription filled and it fills me with anxiety because I feel that if I go too long without medication, all my progress will be undone. Without medication the smallest task feel so overwhelming 😣😢 I hope this shortage ends soon.

I always try to have a month in reserve. I dont know how that works other places than in Norway tho.

Sorry this is happening. Been reducing the amount of Adderall I take just because of these shortages. Doctor said I shouldn’t. ALWAYS build a 1-month+ reserve of any medications. You never know when the supplies at pharmacies run dry.

I have actually managed to get 28 days worth just yesterday! It seems as though the shortages are beginning to end :)

I haven't started meds. I'm planning to get dx soon. Thank you. I plan to try Cognitive Behavior therapy and other natural things as well. I use Mushroom powder that includes lion's mane. But, I need other help, too. I heard saffron helps. I might order some soon. It's not cheap. So, I don't know when. I have insurance. It will help with scripts if I try something.

Hi Ollie Did you find an unsettling increase in your heart rate on 50mg elvanse? I’m new to 50mg and wondering if this settle after a few days/ weeks?
@ollieedward64310 ай бұрын
Hi Sarah! I definitely notice an increase on my 40mg dose. Particularly when im exercising. I do heart rate zone training and ive noticed when im unmedicated i can maintain a much lower heart rate at the same intensity level. I dont necessarily feel out of breathe or as though im working harder on meds (with a higher HR), but the numbers say otherwise.
@melannefranks552511 ай бұрын
Im on shared care , i asked if they can do 30 mg and 20 mg for my 50mg . I dont pay my review anymore i put my name on the nhs list again, The Dr can keep you on your 40 mg by doing 2x 20mg

Would you say you're worse than pre medication? I have vyvanse that I've just been prescribed (last week). Going to start taking it tomorrow... I am in NZ, not sure if we have more here.
@ollieedward64310 ай бұрын
I wouldnt say so personally, no, but its been so long its hard to remember! I'd say i have just noticed my symptoms much more because ive seen what life is like with less severe symptoms.
@andieluke136611 ай бұрын
Man, that majorly sucks. Sorry to hear. I've been there and it is a real struggle to be without meds. You said you know you "shouldn't rely on meds so much". While I get what you're saying, I'd venture to say give grace to yourself. I've been trying to change my mindset on this myself lately. Yes, meds is just one of the tools in our toolbox to manage our ADHD, but it is a major one. ADHD is a real and debilitating disorder. You wouldn't tell an amputee they're relying on their wheelchair and/or prosthetics "too much", would you? Hope you and everyone else can get your meds soon.
