Welcome back everyone.
I had a few requests to show my process to make cabochons jewelry and magnets. I think it is much faster this way then waiting for the skins to dry, which sometimes takes weeks. I have found this process save both time and money.
Here is the link to Amazon if you want to find the glue that I use. I do not have an affiliate account, I am only including for your reference if you want to check it out.

I use golf tees with museum putty on the large end. Stick the round side of the cab to the putty which never dries out and can be reused. Then dip in the paint , stick the pointed end of the tee into styrofoam until paint is dry. If you don’t like the results, soak the cab in water & dried paint slips off so you can reuse the cab.

What a great idea! I was about to try making a paint skin for the first time this weekend, but this seems to be a much faster way. I'll try both. Thanks so much.

No problem! Remember, if you don’t like what it looks like after it dries you just throw it in a cup of water and start over! 😁

Not only is it faster, but you don't need to worry about air bubbles when gluing the skin to the cabochon, because the "skin" is already there. Great tip!

@@artcreationsby1creativedir295 Hey. Just wanted to let you know that your link to the stainless steel chains takes you to the heart shaped tray instead. Thanks for the links, though. Very helpful.

Thanks for sharing your method! I would be concerned that the paint sticks to the Diamond Glaze and might come off the cabochon. Has that ever happened?

Hi! Great question....I have been using this method for almost 2 years now and have not had that issue. First, make sure the paint is dry on the cabochon before gluing it to the tray and then also keep in mind that the glue dries fast, so work quick so the glue doesn't start setting before you put the cabochon in the tray. Just a tip, put the glue on the bezel tray, not on the back of the glass cabochon.

Beautiful! What kind of pain do you use?

I typically use any kind of spillover when I’m painting with a few exceptions. Thinner and more transparent paint doesn’t look good when dry. The majority of my dips are from the bloom or cup pours since the paint is thicker. I hope this helps!

Hi Rececca, if you go to the description box of the video, I linked quite a few products that I use there. They aren’t affiliate links, just sharing since several people have asked.

Have you had silver spots? I’m ready to give up. I’ve used that glue and others but I waste a lot of inventory because in get silver spots.

I have never had them. I have seen other people post about the issue so I don’t think you’re alone. I’m a quality engineer by day so really good at problem solving! If you’re not using silicone or other additives in your paint recipes, maybe the paint is too thin? I only dip the cabochons when I’m doing blooms. I would think Dutch pour and cup pour paint might be too thin? Is the “silver” spots just the bezel trays showing through the paint because it’s too thin or transparent? Just a few thoughts.

I think your either using too much glue or not pushing down hard enough to get air bubbles out or paint is too thin. It used to happen to me too

I wish these people would show more of the materials step by step with everything that needs to be done and less talking,After reading these comments people still can't get the full concept of this project!!! I loose interest too much talking and not enough direct teaching!!!
