You should really consider making a coloring book! But on watercolor paper. Even your line-art is just so clean and beautiful, and I feel like it would give people a really fun way to improve their own art!

NO- I HAVE A CLASS RN. ILL WATCH THIS AS SOON AS ITS FINISHED, I’ll update this comment 😵‍💫😵‍💫 (Edit) So- it’s been over a week since I’ve written this comment and I apologise for not watching it yet but I am incredibly busy with uni stuff rn ( art school ) and I have a deadline that’s coming up so idk when I’ll have the time to focus on this video but I swear I’ll get round to doing it 😭!!! Sorry ( edit #2, 27/11/22 ) I’ve finally watched the video and OMG does this make me even more inspired to continue my art journey !! It’s so cool seeing the behind the scenes of an artists career that’s not just the making of the art itself. Beautifully recorded and edited too which I’d say is an art form itself ahaha,,, I don’t think I’ll ever find an artist that inspires me more than Hieu himself :p

You’re so lucky to have a kind printing shop in your area. I live in a small mountain town that only has one print shop and they were very unfriendly and resistant to spending the necessary time to get a final revision. They basically just wanted me out the door as quickly as possible.

I have the same issue, it’s why I bought my own printer there’s not much around here and when I’ve outsourced even if I edit the colors, they come out too dark and the printer doesn’t care.

You gotta weed through the print shops that are not owned by actual artists. I've been working in printshops for years both digital and screen print. Bad shop owners are like the plague. They want to turn a dollar pressing buttons, but most don't know anything about art.

A cool idea would be to release an art book with the creative process of the prints. Probably not add all of them but it to show the progress of the work and for it to for sure include the first print and the final print 👌🏼

These look so, so good! The prices are absolutely justified for this quality. Thank you for walking us through this process. I always struggle with taking good photos of my art, so seeing how much work you put into is kinda reassuring. Just a note, I think there is a small price mix up on your store page. For the "For a little while longer" print, the gold and open editions are switched I think.

I did textile print at uni. One way I found really useful is swatch your colours on the print. So take a slice of your design all the way through and print on your home printer. That way you are less likely to have expensive surprises at the print store. You don't have to do it for every piece but it's really useful if you decide to print on more expensive materials metal, wood or fabric.

@sadepennbrook
@sadepennbrook Жыл бұрын
Printing and foiling can be done in the same place. It depends on the capabilities of the printer. The problem is that do-it-all printers usually up-charge more for things dedicated printers do better because dedicated printers are more adapted and efficient with their machinery to that specific skill- therefore, bringing down cost.
@kelogsloops
@kelogsloops Жыл бұрын
i'd honestly never knew foiling processes existed two years ago! it was particularly tricky to find a process that flowed, as these two companies had never interacted before! but i think we've finally found our groove. also because they're both separate specialists in their respective fields, i feel super confident in the product we make!

I wonder why you don't scan the image twice, once before you apply the gold and once afterwards? The difference should give you a mask for where you used gold to adjust it in post-processing and maybe even use it as special color. Related question, have you calibrated your camera properly to get a proper color profile for it? That should reduce the amount of surprises in print.

I comment because I really like the art and lines and light. :)

First of all really, so you take the file to the printer. O.K., for those who do not a printer in their town or city but do have a Walmart you can just order matte printed photos from them same quality, cheaper price. - peace

Glad you made this video. At first i didnt want the print because i dont like the crappy mass production with bad quality and fast fading colours, def not for that price, but when i saw that it is actually well made etc, im gonna save up for it

Why don't you profile your tablet screen. Use a spectrophotometer to colour correct the screen then get the paper colour profiles from the printer, load into yor software and you can accurately profile your prints first time. You may find that your tablet screen does not cover the full spectrum of the colour space so it may be worth investing in a monitor that has good profiling capabilities such as an Eizo or NEC. I used to print for artists and photographers.

Do you think you’ll try a different medium at some point, such as oils?
