Have you tried dipping the object in alum? After you apply the alum and let it dry, can you sand it? very grateful for the help

I have no idea about sanding objects. Never done it .

What is the correct measurement/thickness of Alum to water please
@raynbowcrowstudios2165 Жыл бұрын
Pop over to the Jacquard Products website for exact alum measurements. I just chuck a handful in a few litres of water for everything I do . Don't confuse this with carrageenan.

Do you have different measurements of alum depending on which materials you are marbling? If so, which for glass marbling? I read in the jacquard instructions two different measurements.(paper/fabric)
@raynbowcrowstudios2165 Жыл бұрын
No I use the same concentration for everything.

I’ll give this a try - you use much more alum in your water than Jacquard says. It may stop the color bleeding I mentioned.

It may, fingers crossed. But as I stated to you on Facebook some glass will refuse to marble well no matter what 😢

Can you use the alum from the grocery or is it a special kind 😊
@raynbowcrowstudios2165 Жыл бұрын
I buy it specially from craft shops. Just research alum for water Marbling in your country.

Where do you buy the Alum to make this? Thank You
@raynbowcrowstudios2165 Жыл бұрын
Depends which country you are in. Any good craft supplies store should stock.

In my experience it does

I’m looking at getting one of the marbling kits by Jaquard from on online art store & it comes with Allum which I suspect is the same stuff that you’ve used in this video or is it something different…also where do you purchase your Allum from? It also says as one of the items I need to have is Household Ammonia - what would this be needed for? Thanking you in advance 🤗
@raynbowcrowstudios2165 Жыл бұрын
Yes it's the same alum. I don't use ammonia, I believe it helps to mix up methocel, another commonly used marbling thickener.

Ive failed completely, bought alum powder, paint just dispersed in water. . Then clumped
@raynbowcrowstudios21652 ай бұрын
Alum powder? I'm a little confused, the alum is a prep which sometimes is required on objects pre marbling . Do you mean carrageenan?
