Currently I am playing your video so it feels like a friend talking to me and I don't feel like I am alone doin my thesis in the middle of the night. Thank you....

You mentioned some great ideas for techniques on overcoming distractions. I'm really prone to it and definitely find things like moving my phone out of reach help. When working I even go as far as having headphones on and if I'm wearing a hoodie, pull the hood up to lessen my peripheral vision!

Thats a fab one! I'll try the hood up method

Finding this video about a year after it's posted. I'm also a scientist (hi Microbiologists!) and I've just finished Stolen Focus by Johann Jari, highly recommend! Thank you so much for all your helpful videos!! Nice to know I'm not the only one out here STRUGGLING, hahaha.

Thank you for this Julia, you are always very engaging. I am working on my masters currently, and your vlog was my 'intentional distraction break time'! Quick question - from a neuroscience perspective would any of these tips be more or less useful for an ADD brain? I can find it extremely difficult to focus when I want to and get extremely hyperfocused where I lose hours on something (sometimes actually on helpful things). Thanks

Thank you! Ooooo I am unsure but I will look this up for you. I think short timers might be helpful as it means not focusing for long stretches so make it easier to work!
