Recently I was on a work/school trip where almost everyone ended up sick at one point. Since we were away from our regular support systems we really had to rely on each other - fortunately it worked so well. We had people who were so sick they needed to go to the hospital, but still and despite being far away from home we felt safe because of how everyone looked out for each other. And yes, dropping expectations was a necessity!

I’ve been poorly all week with a young baby and all of my usual home/parenting standards have gone out of the window and I have been feeling really guilty - thank you for this video, it was really validating ❤

This was such a great video! Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been starting my journey to be a solo mom by choice and I really appreciate your insights on these types of topics. I also have super supportive family and parents who live right down the street which is hugely reassuring when I think about times I may be sick while caring for my child. I like your yellow, amber, red strategy!

I'm a parent of multiple children with a partner who used to work very long hours and when I was sick with my first 3 under 5, it was a struggle. Now that I have teenagers, they can help out with the little ones.

I am not a solo parent, but it reminded me of when my partner, myself and our then 1 year old all came down with the flu. It was miserable. We ended up making a nest in our room. We were fortunate enough to have a mini fridge and tv in there. We pulled through but boy it was tough. We didn't want to get anyone sick, fortunately we had some family and friends leave some meals and groceries on the porch.

I was raised by a single mom. I ate a lot of peanut butter sandwiches and things that fit in a toaster oven. The other meals we ate a lot were slow-cooker meals. Mom could chuck all the ingredients in when she went to work, and we had a hot meal in the evening. You've got this, and you're doing great..

Great video! While listening to your many great thought I remembered my mum’s rainy day box that came out in rainy days or days when we needed a bit more special input. A small child like your son could enjoy a cardboard box to sit in with a safe coloured marker or two for example. I remember the magic painting books that only needed water on the brush. Good luck!

This was the perfect video for today for me, both my parents are ill, so is my brother, my best friend has just had a baby, and my husbands parents are away 😂 luckily my husband works from home so he’s able to help out but yeah today is HARD, luckily my little one is super chill and Ms Rachel has saved my life along with Peppa Pig 😂 but yeah if I don’t start feeling better I’ll have to call on someone to help. Will have to look into this.

He is a little young but he is really close to the age where just handing the recycling box and some markers over to them can give a days worth of entertainment (on and off depending on the age) easily (2-6 is ideal for that). Little kids love old cardboard boxes, paper towel tubes, scrap paper, paper bags, etc. Plus it is great creative play. The best part is when they are all done with their creations they can just get popped into recycling and the whole process can start again the next week.

Loving the RBG collar, but.. whats a long sleeve vest? I thought the definition of a vest was essentially a sleeveless top. Im assuming its a difference in Brittish and American words, but if you said crisps or biscuits I would have known what you were talking about.

I think a vest in UK is normally like something to wear under a top

A vest in UK english is basically a onesie in American English so they can be long or short sleeve
