Absolutely loved this video. You have answered so many questions I had. I have watched other videos, but yours helped so much. Love the studio. I am currently in the process of making my own studio with an empty bedroom in my basement. I am having so much fun making it my own. I also have a craft cave ( in my basement that I make wreaths and do vinyl cutting with my cricut) that I put a new floor in and when I started paint pouring I was getting paint all over my new floors. So my husband said what about the empty room which has just concrete floors and boy now I can make a mess and don't care. Now I call it my paint cave...lol. You are such a delight and love your work so thank you again. Look forward to your next beautiful pour. You are right. When you first see what you can accomplish it's amazing. Hope you are staying safe and as Molly says. Happy Pouring! Hugs!

Heya not trying to make this about anyone else .. we all love all our KZbin artists!! Gina Deluca channel made a great video on just this about a month ago, that puts consistencys in perfect perspective on a 1 to 5 like Kathleen did in the Dixie cups on different paints, but on consistency. 1 cup being the thinnest and the 5 cup being the thickest. What each is used for. Of course we all have to find out what works for us as individuals but Ginas video on consistency is a great place to start for newer artists who haven’t quite figured it out yet. I thought I had it all down and I learned some things too, so yahh definitely worth watching. Happy painting! 🎨👌🌹

Thanks so much for taking the time to share some of your non-secrets with us. As a fairly new fluid artist I have a lot to learn, and I would say that how to mix my paint is probably where I need the most help. Love your studio. Can’t wait until the day that I can have even half as much room for my painting.

Mary Ellen Richards just jumping in here 👋 girlfriend I paint in my kitchen on an island and on my biggie kitchen table. By covering with dollar store sheet plastic I’m able to paint sofa sized paintings! Yes! And afterwards I let the paint dry and reuse the same 2 pieces of plastic for almost a year now. Don’t let a small space cramp your style!! Find some good off brand Tupperware type containers to store paints in and try to figure out what isn’t needed and dump it quickly. The biggest thing as a newbie is we think we need it ALL 😂 and we really don’t. I’d suggest picking about 6 - 10 colors you adore and then adding in black white and a few neutral colors. Then work on those for a long while. What most artist starting out don’t realize is, is that by adding a few drops of one color to another cup changes the cup slightly.. but add a few more drops and it changes dramatically. So we don’t have to have 100 different colors. So take magenta and yellow. In a yellow cup of paint add a few drops of magenta and it’s now a warmer yellow.. add a few more drops and it’s deep yellow.. add another drop of magenta and it is orangey.. more magenta it’s nice marigolds and then reddish russets.. And the same thing happens with Reds and blues etc.. For me watching a couple of videos on ‘color biases’ was a huge eye opener to get the color mixes going in the ‘vivid’ colors because it can get muddy. And you may know all this - I didn’t know anything.. & nobody was offering when I started 😳 but I thought I’d throw it out there for anyone that is newer. Buying less and mixing it is easy. I think every one of Kathleen’s videos she adds a little of this to a little of that. Js Color bias is a thing. It’s more concerning in vivid colors. Learning it early to save paint & frustration is good. Ok I’m rambling 🤣. Been in lockdown too long or what I refer to as Voluntary House Arrest 😂😂 👌 Happy painting!

Mary Ellen Richards and I just realized I wrote all that and you said your thing was how to mix paint .. which you probably meant ‘consistency’ and not color combinations. Hahahahaha!!! Okayyy.. well maybe somebody will get something useful from my comment so I’ll leave it up 🤔 😆😆😆😆

debrajo l , well, I wasn’t referring to color mixing, but I love the information that you offered. I don’t know much about mixing colors, and have therefore opted for buying more colors. I would love to go the less is more route. Was the video on ‘color biases’ something that you saw on you tube?

Thank U so much for sharing how U create your pouring medium! I truly appreciate your genuine authenticity 1st as a person & then as an artist-U R the REAL DEAL, I just love that!!! Wow, I thought I had a lot of paint LOL, after seeing your “painting space” -U blew me out of the water!! 😜😱😊 I am changing up my pouring medium method & going to be utilizing a similar mixture except using Liquitex pouring & Floetrol. I like the idea of using those 3 oz paper cups too, more ability to “control” how much paint U use & waste less. I starting paint pouring in 3/18 & painted till 10/18, then life started hitting me hard & I didn’t paint for 18 months, just recently getting back to it & my sewing machine... YaY!! 👍😍🙏🌞❗️❗️ this quarantine has really got millions (no doubt) of ppl being creative & especially paint pouring!! Gah -for instance, Jerry’s online is out of stock on their 8X8 canvases, as I just placed an order for more supplies w/them. Have to buy those at another online store! I really love your pieces, your techniques & am grateful for the inspiration you’re giving me. Thanks for being U, keep rocking it girly, lots of luv from Michigan!!! 👍💚😊🙏🌞❗️

Hello Michigan Girl. Thanks so much for your smiling words this beautiful morning. Glad your back into your painting. I also have used the Floetrol/liquitex PM. Love it. I have been ordering my supplies from Michaels. You can order online and save 20% on your entire order even sale items. They email you when ready for pick up. Drive up to the front of the store. Call them and they bring it out to your car. Easy breezy and no touchy 😀 wishing you good success on this round of your painting journey. Reach out if I can help. Cozcreationsart@gmail.com 😊🎨🙌🏻

COZ Creations Art: Unfortunately, all of our local craft stores closed up approximately 3 wks ago...for a couple wks they were offering the curbside p/u, but then they shut it all down. 😔 I love Michaels too, but found Jerry’s Artarama is hard to beat overall on their pricing when buying a “lot” of stuff @ once, esp if they’re having 1 of their super sales! For instance -I love to use the iridescent medium to make my own metallic paints too & that stuff is generally pricey (around $9 a 8 oz. bottle) and it’s easy to go thru a lot of that when making your own metallics! I have always loved the metallics & see we have that in common, as U obviously do too, since U use them in all of your paintings from what I’ve seen, they just seem to add so much more richness to this type of art IMO... Thanks for your lovely reply! 😊👍💚🙏🌞

Thank you so much for this video. I am a complete beginner and am eager to learn. I have ordered my floetrol and gac 800 and can't wait to get started. You have inspired me to have a go at this beautiful artform. I couldn't wait to start and tried a mix of gesso and water then added my paint to that.....the result was pretty good. I even got cells which I must say surprised the heck out of me, when I saw them appear well what can I saw WOW! I am hooked. So excited and I know I will have so much fun with this. I love your art studio almost as much as I love your art! My dining room is my "art studio" and my dining table covered in plastic shower curtains is my work surface. Every counter, piece of flat top furniture is covered with my drying paintings. LOL!!! You did open my eyes to the more muted colors that I thought people would hate. I poured a ring pour if you want to call it that - my hands don't just shake, sometimes they jerk! Anyway, at first I thought I'd made a muddy mess but as it dried I realized those colors are in quite a few of your paintings - kind of like the phalo (I can't spell either) greens and blues a lot of artists use in their art. Glad I found your channel and glad I found you!

Your studio made me envy you! I enjoyed the mixing part but my space is SO much smaller. I'm living with my son and his family - too many trips to the ER and he got too worried about my health while I was living on my own - and I now paint in a small corner of my bedroom. The small bookshelves that held my paint are now stacked on top of my storage drawers, and I paint on a tray table. I guess it's a good thing I paint on a much smaller scale than you do! The largest I've painted is a 10 inch round, and the smallest is about 1" x 2". My preferred surface is wood, but I have a variety of things to paint on, and I have to be creative about where and how to store them. And lately, I've created digital images of them and then repainted them, because it's more difficult to get out to buy things and I don't want the added expense of shipping wood panels. I do have more fun this way, because I can help my grandchildren develop their art sense. (I sure do wish I had your studio...)

Thanks heaps for that, I thought when watching you that your paints were a bit more fluid than other artists when swiping. I agree you have to watch a lot of artists before you start yourself, so you know that you can adjust the consistency to what will eventually work best for you. That's what I am doing. Everyone works differently and also, depending where you live, what materials you can get and also your environment, will have an impact on how paints react. It's so fascinating, the science of reactions between materials and its resulting colours it's just.....WOW 🎨

Hello again Candice. I so wish I had paid better attention in science class. I wish I understood better about the way the paints react to each other. So many factors. You have much more "stuff" since my last tour our your Happy Place! Great instructional video. It is so true that one must find what works for them in the realm of paint consistency. It seems the different pouring methods also require slight changes in the consistency. I've been playing with weighing my paints/PM/water lately in an effort to get more control on the process. Interesting. Have a blessed day!

You probably are a great mom! I was listening to you and at several points during the video I thought I could hear my mom guiding me when she first taught me to write, then again when she taught me how to use MS Word n Excel n then again when she taught me to cook easy stuff. I spoke to her first a good 15 mins abt you today. Also, I lucked out coz my Arteza paimts have the consistency of your Deco Art's most fluid blue in thos video. Phew!!!

Hello, thanks a lot for sharing. I love your work and to learn most of the time I try to "copy" , 'till I can cope with the technics, if I do .... but if I'm often happy with the result, it never ends as I expected ... I still have a question dear Cathleen, How do you prepare your coussin, for example on you video on april the 5th ? With all my frienship from France. DO.
