The easiest tutorial i found on the net, really good for people that just start the hobby, the only thing i will like to see is a sum up of all the paints used just for easy access, good job!

I think watching you drybrush the armour has been one of the best painting tricks I’ve learnt to date my dude. Many thanks

Little bit of silver and away you go! None of this time-consuming mucking about with tiny brushes. ;D

I want to thank you. I found you on a couple of podcasts and then came here to watch some of your tutorials, and they are fantastic really. And you seem such a really nice guy. So, thank you so much for making this, I wish you the best!

Wow, thank you! This is a super old video by now, so if you're still able to get something out of this one, all the better! 🤣

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio well, I'm a little obsessive and I just have to start watching a list from the beginning, but I'll catch up 😁. But are you saying that this old videos lost their value? Not at all, I'm learning a lot! Above all, I'm learning about your decision process, and why you choose to do some things before, why other things after. The 'why' and 'what for' are very important. Also, I learned the magical properties of Agrax Earthshade 😁. Thanks again my friend, you are very kind, God bless you.

Not sure what it is but after watching multiple painting tutorials on KZbin, I really like your videos! I like your attention to detail with always focusing the camera when bringing objects nearer, shows you’re making sure we can get the best view :)

Thanks a lot! I do try and keep the important bits close to the eye, though there's usually a fair bit of waffling and nonsense as well if I'm not careful with my editing. ;D

A lot of these techniques work for 40k Custodes too. Great tutorial for someone who just wants to have fun painting and isn't aiming to win any Demon awards :)

If you use the gloss version of the Reikland Flesh shade to wash the armor, it won't dull the gold as much. Just FYI.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio6 жыл бұрын
Quite so! I've found it's a little different to drybrush over, though, and doesn't tend to pick up those edges quite as easily. To get around it, I just gloss varnish the armour when I'm done. It's a little brighter on the pauldrons than usual, but I like how it wears. i.imgur.com/B8ir5KW.jpg

your channel deserves more subs and like seriously I went from painting crap to great with your tutorials
@SonicSledgehammerStudio6 жыл бұрын
It might sound a little trite, but trust me: nothing you paint is crap. Everything is practice. I think I mention it in another video, but the gist of it is this: everything you paint teaches you something new and important, and helps you build on the skills you already have. If these videos help you on the way, all the better! Try not to be down on stuff you've already painted, though, since even though it might not look the greatest to you now, you still definitely learned something while you were working on it, I promise you that.

Great video! I am painting my first Stormcast Eternal tomorrow at the shop! Just a question, I didn't catch on to what it meant, but what does it mean to "wash" your Stormcast Eternal? Again, loved the video!
@SonicSledgehammerStudio6 жыл бұрын
It's actually just an older way of referring to the ink or 'shade' step, from back when Agrax Earthshade was Devlan Mud Wash... Force of habit! When you're washing a miniature, you're really just coating the whole thing in a specific shade. :D Good luck, and have fun!

Awesome as always. Your videos really help a lot. I have a question though. I'm planning to paint my stormcast army using the celestial vindicator colors. Any recommendations on what paints to use for the armor?
@SonicSledgehammerStudio6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I haven't given them much of a look before! I had a peek at Warhammer TV's suggested guide over here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWOTe5l_pcd6eqc I'd probably paint them using much the same colours, but using the technique demonstrated in this video here. Start from Sotek Green, give the whole model a wash, then drybrush up with Sotek Green again before doing the edge drybrush with that last highlight. It wouldn't be as smooth as their finish, but I imagine the colour would come out much the same.

What shade did you use for the shield? I use Drakenhof Nightshade.

Ironbreaker to the first question, and Nuln Oil over both the weapon and the blue.

can i ask a question please. have you ever had a problem with gold where it feels slightly tacky even after a few days of drying i got them in one of those stormcast kits or does the washes take that problem away
@SonicSledgehammerStudio6 жыл бұрын
I've honestly not heard of that happening before! It might be that the pots have been sitting still for too long and the paints are quite separated. If you can, I'd take it in to your local Games Workshop and see what they can tell you, or if they've ever seen it happen before. If it's a one-off manufacturing problem, they'll almost certainly replace it.

So from memory he used: Retributor armour as a base Auric armour gold as a layer Riekland fleshshade as armour shade (but you can also use agrax) Maccrage blue for the blue bits Nuln oil for blue shade(as well as shading for weapons and other silver bits) Screamer pink for hafts Vallejo black for black bits Runefang silver for final armour highlight and weapon highlight Zandri dust base and ushbati bone layer for the scroll

You have to be a precise painter, like miniature games, and have a ton of patience. I open the box and took one look, and put in my closet. When I get a chance I'll put in storage until the stars go out in the sky. If I ever paint them it will one color for the good guys and a different color for the bad guys. Otherwise I would never get it done.
@athena58746 жыл бұрын
What primer you use?
@SonicSledgehammerStudio6 жыл бұрын
For these guys I use the Retributor Armour spray. Saves a lot of time versus starting from black and doing a couple of coats of gold over top to start off with!
