I love hearing about how you plan content, as a content creator it’s so fascinating to hear how others plan content and how that looks different for each creator! That’s so smart to film the intros in advance haha I feel like I always film the intro last because I’m scared that I will bail on one of the books I’m trying to read for a video because I won’t like it and then I’d have to refilm it later 🤣🤣 I agree filming intros are the worst and I don’t know why that is, but it’s true!

Okay SAME! Whenever the video is filmed and I need to do the intro (cause I always do it last) I’m like 😩😑 Cause it feels boring but also time consuming. Setting up lights, putting on makeup and getting everything right in one take is frustrating. So glad to hear both of your input on this

This was so informative! I have taken a bunch of notes to try to help me plan out my October content. Similar to you I have a million lists in my notes app with all my video ideas. When I plan out my tbr videos I try to think about which vlogs I want to make progress on in that month to include those books on my tbr. I also batch film my intros because I feel like I cant start vlogging or reading the books for a video if I dont have an intro. Once or twice a month I will dedicate an entire afternoon to filming video intros and whatever sit down videos I want to post in that month. That same day or the next I usually have a batch editing and uploading session. This works really well for me because other than vlog clips I dont have to do much more to put out content consistently.

I adore this video. And you. I admire you 🥺🥺🥺 I am saving this to rewatch when I need inspiration. I am blown away. Your organization, commitment and stamina are outstanding. I can’t believe you have this much follow through. I’ve realized recently that long format videos are really hard for me. When I film something over a span of months, I get bored and end up scrapping it. Which means all the footage and time and effort I put into the video. Because it doesn’t interest me anymore. My brain moves on to new ideas so fast that it’s hard to commit to a video that lasts longer than a week. I scraped 3 videos last month which made me publish basically nothing. I am so impressed with your work ethic. You’re inspiring me to make more content and be mindful of my process

ah thanks so much Katie, that means so much to me. i'm equally in awe with how much energy you put into your content, it really shows. watching your wrap up actually got me thinking "huh maybe i should scrap stuff that doesn't go well or videos where i'm low energy." it's clear you put a lot of thought into what you put out there and i really admire that

I’m halfway through this and I just have to say, I watch a ton of booktube but I have zero interest in making content so how amazing are you that I’m sitting here enthralled by this video?! I do feel like a lot of readers want to create content though and I’ve seen other popular booktubers attempt what you’re doing here with a “just start.” So I think it’s really awesome that you took the time to explain your process and fill in answers to people’s questions.

So i found booktube in 2019. and I've analyzed the s**t out of it, and made a huge list of the main video types/ideas that the comunity does. By no means is it finished but i have a large variety listed. Idea collecting: big list of common video types on booktube= In the Onenote program I created a booktube notebook; where each "page" was a video type {vlog/book mail/asmr/readathon} and on those pages i wrote notes about how to do those videos. I want to do this for my other channel nices as well. big categories I want to cover on my channels= I also planned my channel pillars- the broad categories to cover= horror, middle grade, my reading journey, my booktube journey, booktube 101, etc. I keep a Onenote notebook of TAG videos also. as i see a tag I'll make a new page and copy the title, questions, original vid link, etc. I want to make more dedicated time to brainstorming videos and scripting them- like the tags videos. Preplanning: I have a content calendar in onenote that I use for the preplanning: each page is the videos for that month {i move them to the next month if not finished} i'll list the tbr of books on each page, and any bullet notes. This is also where i'll script sit down videos. I also have a bullet planner for my true planning of tracking when i filmed and what stage each video is at, and what videos to really do this month. I'll add videos that pop up. I want to film a digital tour of my onenote {probably in 2022}. My reading process, routine, and tracking methods are still being tweaked as well. I'm still not super comfortable with vlogging. But 2020 i did great with planning and reading- just not enough filming. I do have 2 videos up about how i plan for booktube/youtube: how i plan my content kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmnCeJt7jLCYfrs content calendar mockup kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZPXaqymoc2phtU I keep tweaking my processes so I'll most likely create more videos about my process each year.

I was wondering if you do booktube full time or if you have another job as well? If so, how do you balance the work load of doing both without getting burned out?
@chandlerainsley
@chandlerainsley 2 жыл бұрын
i have a full time job outside of youtube. it's not a challenging balance... i think it might be if i had hobbies/things to do outside of this ;) haha. i basically spend my free time on my channel... as far as burn out i have good self care stuff in place to ensure it doesn't happen. it has before, but not in a long time.

@@chandlerainsley have you thought about doing YT full time and leaving your day job? Do you have any benchmark that would make it happen, like number of subscribers?
@chandlerainsley
@chandlerainsley 2 жыл бұрын
it was something i used to consider but likely won't do. youtube ad revenue varies too wildly for it to be reliable income (unless u have millions of subscribers in a lucrative sector of the youtube community). i think ideally i'd like to have youtube remain a side hustle when i transition into motherhood... so i don't intend to ever really stop making videos but it won't replace a job :)

How do you balance filming several videos at one time? Keeping up with updates, editing them all together when they’re mishmashed on one sd card?
@chandlerainsley
@chandlerainsley 2 жыл бұрын
i kinda mentioned it but i immediately upload clips into my editing software after filming so they don't really get mixed up. i wasn't as clear as i could have been with the update bit. if i write in my planner "read 50% of this book" the implication is that i will immediately film a clip upon getting to that reading benchmark!
