Crafting with my Cricut is so much fun but comes with a lot of stuff. Where do you put it all? Well if you have the space even a small corner you can create your own dream craft space! The first thing you want to consider is how much space do you have? Do you have a small corner you get to create as your craft space or an entire room. That will make a difference when planning. Next, is what kind of supplies are you wanting to store? Do you only make cards so just need space for cardstock or do you do a little of everything. That will help you plan for how much and what kinds of products you need to store. Now the question is what is your budget? Crafting can get expensive so paying an arm and a leg for crafting storage may not be in your budget. So what can you do? Save where you can, reuse and repurpose. Check out garage sales, thrift stores or your local retail store. Finally, choose your space. If able paint your walls. Picking a color is difficult but pick a color that inspires you and makes you happy. Now to paint your room. I opted to make a peg board to organize a lot of my tools. I used two pieces of white 2 by 4 pegboard from home depot. I used painters tape and painted teal stripes. I used cheap 1 by 2's to frame the back so that the pegs can be placed in them. I finished it with trim but this is optional. Hang your peg board up! Now to make the table. I ordered 2, 2 by 2 Kallax shelves and 1, 2 by 4 Kallax shelf from IKEA. Assemble as instructed. I added strong wheels to the bottom with scrap wood. I positioned the shelves how I wanted them and bracketed them together with scrap wood. Now I bought a piece of upgraded fairly thin plywood and sanded, stained and varnished. I used 3 coats of varnish since it is a crafting table. I added trim to make the counter look thicker and cover up the top of the shelves. I attached the plywood from underneath. Now for the oversized paper flowers. I googled free templates for paper flowers. For the Dahlia I cut out a bunch of different colored paper and glued them as a cone. Start from the outside and work your way in. I used pieces of a cardboard box for the back for the flowers. For the large sunflowers and other flowers cut petals using your Cricut. Cut a slit or have your cricut cut the slits, and hot glue the slit on the bottom to overlap slightly. This give each petal a 3-D effect. For my wisteria flower. I cut a bunch of petals, wrapped each one around a golf ball and spaced them using a pony bead on fishing line. I found a fallen mossy stick to hang them on. Lastly, the best part! Time to decorate! Enjoy planning and creating your new crafting area, I hope this inspires you to create your own crafting area! Happy crafting everyone!
