If you’re a new mom, aim to pump every 2 hrs for the first 3-4 months until your supply regulates! Very crucial. It is so hard! But it’s worth it. Good luck mamas 💖

How are you supposed to get any sleep or anything else done pumping every 2 hours that’s crazy?

How long every two hours?
@babybc8810
@babybc8810 8 ай бұрын
@@makkay100 30 minutes is a full pump session. However I have to admit when I first started pumping I was doing 15 minutes every 2 hours. It was too much for me to handle I almost quit. I’m a year in, and my supply has dropped so much from not pumping how I was supposed to. Every moms supply regulates around 3-4 months and it will drop to what is being demanded. So if you have an oversupply in the beginning it will usually go down. Breastmilk really is supply and demand. The less you pump the less milk you will make. I think 20 minutes would be better but with time increase the minutes. For example let’s say you start pumping every 2 hrs during the day and every 3 hrs at night I’d make sure I’m doing 30 minute pumping sessions

@@MariaSamuels it is crazy. And you don’t really sleep honestly. They say sleep when baby sleeps but who’s going to cook for you or wash bottles or clean or help you do anything unless you have someone living with you that can help you. It is so hard and the reason for many divorces and break ups. It is totally not fair how hard it is. When I went to work I was literally falling asleep at work. There was a woman that would make fun of me saying that I always looked bored and tired but she didn’t know how little sleep I was getting. She told one of my coworkers and my coworker told me but like that the lady was laughing at me kinda way. You have to find ways to go around it. The fridge Jack has helped a lot or just having extra pump parts. Whenever I’d miss a pump session I would make up for it even if it meant I pumped every hr for 15 mins or something like that. Having your partner help out goes a long way. If they can take care of the baby during the night while you pump that is very helpful.

@@MariaSamuels I preferred every 3 hrs because that was the schedule my baby was on. Throughout the night I stretched it to 4 hrs in the beginning. But once I was producing enough, like aft 3-4 months, I skipped the night time pump session and just pumped before bed and pump once I woke up.

That's great! Amazing Mama for pumping all that wonderful milk for baby :) Two questions 1) if we shake the milk like that vigorously, doesn't it break up the proteins in the breast milk? 2) was that just bamboo top black/dark discolouration / not mould? I wanted to purchase one but worried about that discolouration
@babybc8810
@babybc8810 Жыл бұрын
No, you can shake milk. It’s perfectly fine. I heard the tests they did were when the milk was shaken with so much force and that when we shake it to mix it, it’s not close to the tests that were done. You can swirl it or gently shake and it will mix :)

Thanks for this very helpful...i love this method...im due next month and breastfeeding scares me... I have a question..I see how you prep the bottles for the next day..but when starting out after birth do you feed the baby with what you just pump while building stash? Hopefully my question makes sense
@ShaylaMelina
@ShaylaMelina Жыл бұрын
Yes! So when you start, feed your baby what you have. You will start to produce more than what your baby is eating and therefore you can start to carry forward to the next day any extra milk! I do have a part 2 video explaining a little more how I did this method!

Hi shayla. Thanks God I found this although it’s 1year ago,Ill try this tips,I just started pumping on my 3months old baby girl. I know it’s late I should do this the first week. but I’ll keep trying my best,I wish I can make a lot same like you. How long u can store the milk in the fridge and when u should put in the freezer? I don’t even know u still can mix the morning session and afternoon milk? Thank you for your tips. God bless you
@ShaylaMelina
@ShaylaMelina 8 ай бұрын
Hey girl! God bless you too! It’s never to late to start! You can store milk in the fridge for up to 3 days and milk in the freezer for up to 6 months. You can mix milk from the same day as long as you leave them all in the fridge to get to the same temperature. Never mix fresh warm milk with cold milk. I’m actually going to be filming a 3rd all about pumping video so stay tuned for it! ❤️

I have single electric pump so how I would manage supply on doing one session with 30 minutes from one breast?
@ShaylaMelina
@ShaylaMelina 8 ай бұрын
You can try on e of those suction hand pumps that attach to the boob. I had the hacka. So while your pumping on one side with the electric pump, you can attach the suction one on the other side to collect let downs. The suction stimulates and you you get let downs at the same time from both sides

If you have a a baby who just turned 6 months and you only get 4-5oz each pump every 3-4 hours how can I increase my oz? I would like to increase alittle bit more to 5-6oz every 3 hours if I can. My goal is to pump until 1 year than get her on cows milk, I’m gonna start her on solids slowly (she is breastfeeding and bottle)!
@ShaylaMelina

I would try power pumping every day for an hour. So for an hour you would pump 20 min on 10 min off. So you would jump 3 times. You could also shorten your pumping window for 1 week and pump every 2-3 hours (this will make your body think there is a higher demand. Make sure you keep pumping through the night so set alarms to wake you up to pump. Body armour drinks were a great help for me to increase supply as well as increase food intake. I hope this helps!

How long am I supposed to pump for? I had 3 kids breastfeeding was never this hard I had a lot of birth complications I was on a lot of pain killers I didn’t want my baby consuming and this is my first time with a premature baby weighing 4 pounds and he was in the nicu they was giving him formula I want him off the formula but I cry every time he nurses cuz he wants more and I’m not making enough and I pump every 2 hours only 1 ounce from each boob idk why this time everything is harder and I just don’t know what to do it was easier for my other 2 but my third I’m very discouraged I’m trying my hardest to not stop

I’m sorry to hear this! I usually pumped the max 25 min. During this time I have 3 let downs. After every nursing session, try pumping for 10 min after each time to get your body used to the demand. Also, stress contributes to your production. Try taking relaxing baths in lavender epsom soaks. Drink body armors all day and have oatmeal every morning. This should help with producing more.
