I needed to hear this! I don’t have a baby yet but we’re planning on having one in the next couple years. And wow, the negative comments from current moms. Someone told me last night that I need to stop being such a high achiever after I have kids and just settle for “maybe showering” everyday. You’re honestly an inspiration and it’s gives me hope that having kids can still be fun and productive!!

I like the idea of a not to do list. There’s always so much to do as a parent, so saying no to tasks from the start seems super helpful.

Same here, my daughter is 2 months old, and I kept telling myself... it's ok if I don't get this all done today, like I used to b4 baby... and I give myself time to relax 😌 and to take a pause to look at my baby and enjoy her, because they grow soo fast❤❤

Ty Abby so much. I am going to start doing this. I will lyk how it goes as I go. I’m struggling a lot with routine because of severe depression and I’m trying to pull out of it but it’s hard to know where to start. This really helps me to have an idea. So know u r helping more than new mommy’s out here. My youngest is 7 so I fortunately have lots of time with her in school. It’s just being productive at that time. So again ty so much for this video.

This video is the best! Loved the theme and the content! Also, it felt so reassuring to hear somebody else is doing what I'm doing and that it works even after having a baby! Thanks, Abby! ❤️✨

Honestly, I'm a newer step-mom to teenagers! So having a routine is essential but can be very challenging at times! I am definitely Type-A, I'm also a Virgo, and I also have a touch of ADHD so it makes having routine very difficult!! I'm great at lists .. just not following through. This was very very helpful!! I appreciate your content ❤️

I need an updated toddler addition. I feel like now there’s even less time with them becoming more active + needing less sleep.

I’ve been a mom for 18 years, at this point. My youngest is 10 years old, and I still have to remain flexible in my routine. All it takes is a snow day or a sick day to throw everything off and send you on a type A spiral. I’ve kind of started spending 15-20 minutes at the end of my day making a rough plan for the next day, assessing where the flexibility in my day can occur, and seeing what of my “to do” items can be pushed off or sacrificed, if needed. I also work as a data architect, and database ETL processes are much like babies. When they have a bad night, so does the DA on call. It can be the ruiner of weekends. lol

Step 1: brain dump Step 2: what are you doing today? (‘To do list’ and ‘not to do list’) Step 3: what order are you going to do the tasks for the day? Step 4: take into account your baby (duh) baby’s schedule and windows to do the tasks Step 5: blow it up (brain dump, todays tasks, day is forming.. tasks still may feel general, so, write down steps for completing each task)

Abby, you should come out with a cookbook of all your recipes and workouts! You look like you make really good food! If you can try to list recipes if you're able to if you have the time. That would be awesome! Abby I'm not a mom but I really like your analogy. Often times I get stuck and spin my wheels. And I won't do anything. So I like the analogy I think that really helps try to remind myself if there's bumps along the way it's just a detour and to address right away. Especially with losing weight and trying to eat better. I need it so badly.

Thank you Abby so much. I really struggle with routine, my newborn just turned two months, he does not like sleeping alone and wants to be picked up and wants to sleep on my chest. Pumping has been very difficult (I unfortunately couldn’t breastfeed) and so has training. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong? For my weight, I just started working out and walk on the treadmill with incline every day for 30 min. My weight is still the same and I don’t know how to decrease my mom pooch. Could you please recommend some exercises I can do every day? Thank you so so much, you are an incredible support to me right now, my husband couldn’t take leave and your videos have been keeping me afloat ❤❤

Can I ask how long your partner took off for paternity leave? My sister and I are both pregnant (I’m 32 weeks she’s 16 weeks) and both of our husbands are under the assumption they should go back to work after 2 weeks, although FMLA allows 12 weeks. What’s your opinion on this? Did you need him terribly after more than 2 weeks?
@sasha_markovsky
@sasha_markovsky Жыл бұрын
I would recommend at least 4 weeks... but 8-12 would be better. You will need a lot of support, especially if other family is not nearby. Also it's their baby as well and bonding with the newborn for dads is really important and also the sweetest thing For many of people a 1-2 times in a lifetime thing and work is always going to be there.

My husband could only do 2 weeks, because if some temp does his job wrong a whole lot of people could go to jail. Anyway it worked out. I made sure we made at least a trip to Walmart and a trip to the grocery store together, just to run through it and be sure I could do it. But it was fine. I had an easy birth though. If you have a C-section maybe it would be better to have more support.

My husband could do up to 12 weeks but just took a month off for each kid. We are due for our last in July, his busiest time of yr at work but hoping he’ll take 2-3 at least while we all adjust to the new addition.

Honestly mothers have it a lot easier in these days with dishwashers, washer and dryer machines, running water, electricity, disposable diapers, etc. And yet there is still so much complaining and lack of ability to get it together. I think a huge part of it is due to our softer lives and therefore lack of ability to endure hardship and get through hard times. When I had my first baby, I learned just how emotionally and mentally weak I was and it took lots of work to stop allowing myself to be overwhelmed and stressed out and to just DO IT and figure out how to get stronger through it all. Moms are just coddled these days and allowed to wallow in their problems instead of encouraged to stand up, get stronger, and get through it. I know motherhood was a lot better (but not easier) when I stopped feeling sorry for myself and learned to get into routines and learned some self-discipline. We are so privileged!
