I lost my edges doing this so, if you have fine hair & smaller locs, be careful. Sure your edges are laid, but do it too much & they will be gone. I'm a witness.

FYI, I used Jamaican Black Castor Oil to get my edges back. I still use this method with some of my ponytails, I just use less gel & put the castor oil on first.
@ACCOMPLISHEDSHEIS8 жыл бұрын
That's why it's good to wash the edges out before replying the gel and use oil first before the gel so one won't lose their hairs around their edges.
@giggles12198 жыл бұрын
Janice Bess I swear by Jamaican Black Castor Oil! That's my Holy Grail for my hair...I have fine hair too. We have to be extra careful. I almost never wear my hair in tight pulled up styles.

Hi just a suggestion maybe try using aloe vera leaves for your hair gel. I buy a leaf every two weeks from Whole Foods. I cut on the leaf as I need it and refrigerate the rest. I lay my edges down for this type of look all the time and have been doing so for many years. The aloe is very healthy for hair and scalp.

I have a tip for getting thick hair into a ponytail. Take your inside locks and make a ponytail and then take the locks around it and band over the first ponytail. It also allows you to not have to pull so tight and get a headache. And your hair is so pretty!!

The ponytail may look tight but I slick down my hair sometimes too especially for job interviews and professional events but I assure it’s probably not as tight as yall think it just looks tight because the gel makes it look sleep and secure. It’s not really pulling on the hair.

girlllllll, you're doing what I did. i had dreads from april 2010-oct 2013.(you are still my favorite loc'd youtuber, i think you were my first.) i started brushing my hair because i liked my texture and putting it in ponytails and such.. then one day i woke up and picked one lock out, the another, then another... of course my hair wasnt as long as yours...... after about a month of picking...... i had about a 13 inches of pure Afro... lol.. so now i'm struggling as a natural.

Beautiful locs-- Just a tip you might find helpful; with longgggg locs hair bands don't cut it, so always use an open string made from jersey cotton from a recycled t- shirt or a leg from nylon pantyhose. It holds locs in place until you are ready to wrap.

Girl you did that! Your locs are Beautiful❤ My edges are severly thin so putting my locs back is difficult. So i have to do like finger waves on the sides when I pull them back so it sort of looks shaved. Your hair is lovely, but aren't you concerned with getting traction alopecia using this style? I had my dreadlocks for 15 years and towards the end, the weight was too much and my hair started to thin out, I can only imagine what would have happened if I manipulated my edges like that. Now I am natural and unmodified and I'm still very careful with my edges. No disrespect. Just sharing my experience.

ortem000 an you no what's funny this lady was like o you have thick locs an my response to her was the smaller they are they are easier to pop of I no because I use to wear micros two string twist an after a month it was very dangerous to put in a pony tail cause pop goes those edges
