Honestly, the roughest part of sleeping in a car isn't the cold. It's the heat and humidity during the summer. Unless you want to waste gas and have your ac blasting for 5-8 hrs

@vitalityfox
@vitalityfox Жыл бұрын
The word luxury has really been dumbed the fuck down. Its obvious that the middle class was never meant to exist. Apparently 99% of us are supposed to live in decrepit conditions just like the middle ages while all the rich folk get to live in large. I look at most of these so called luxurious condos in South Florida and most of them are fucking empty. It makes no sense to me how a landlord can raise rent so unbearably high that people have to live in their cars and all their buildings are persistently empty.

You have one side empty I.e floor area and a container with nappies or cat litter inside with a lid to do what you need to in the night in a emergency, triple bagged. People who don't car camp will find the difficulty in everything related to this style of life. @vitalityfox
@vitalityfox Жыл бұрын
It takes about a month to adjust to this. You're body won't like it at all at first. Once you get a few things to make yourself more comfortable like a cooler to keep stuff cold, butane cooker for hot meals, air mattress if you are fortunate enough to have an suv, window covers for privacy, and maybe some outdoor stuff like a canopy, chair, and a music box for your phone you can feel like the world is your back yard, bathroom and kitchen, and your car will feel like your bedroom and living room. I don't know about you but I can't do this in a hot ass environment. Getting heat is always easy because your car is perfectly insulated but getting air conditioning would require you to have to run the a/c pretty much constantly and idling your engine is both bad for the car and expensive. I certainly don't want to sit in heat sweating my fucking balls off constantly. Living in a car is already so uncomfortable to begin with why would you want to also be sweaty.

Keep up the good fight brother. I partially lost my house in the 2017 fires & completely in the subsequent 2018 mudslides. I lived in hotels as long as insurance would cover it, then my car & eventually I was able to leave the area after all the government & insurance paperwork was finally completed just shy of 3 years later. I’m finally back in a home again but I had to leave the state to be able to afford one even with insurance “covering” the loss.

I'm not saying you're dumb or anything, this is a genuine question. Why did you stay in hotels and not get an apartment or something like that? Hotels are super expensive for anything long term.
@JASONLOTT30290
@JASONLOTT30290 11 ай бұрын
@@brutusthebear9050 hotels stays were covered by insurance for basically 90 days per disaster, or for a total of approximately 180 days. I don’t remember the exact number of days they authorized but 180 is close. So, I was not paying for the hotel stay, my insurance was & I had to provide receipts for reimbursement, there wasn’t just a lump sum payout. I submitted hotel stay receipts daily at first. I was also still paying for my home & insurance as if it still existed the entire 3 year period, so that I would not default on my mortgage, or lose the ability to file an insurance claim. I had to wait on the federal, state & local governments to finalize their disaster response before the insurance loss claim could be finalized. Having originally filed a claim for damages from the fire was not even finalized when the landslides occurred approximately 3 months later. I did ask about getting a rental instead of staying in a hotel, my insurance policy would not cover a rental even though it would have been cheaper. They told me I was welcome to get an apartment but that I would fully responsible for that cost & I would still have to pay for the existing mortgage, monthly insurance premiums & my deductible only once the disaster response was finalized, but that my deductible payment could be subtracted from the final payout once the claim could be finalized. Hopefully that explains it well enough to understand; but if not I apologize, even after surviving it all I still don’t understand all the loop holes & catch 22’s that intertwined between corporations & the government. I can definitely verify that they are not there to protect the people/public/consumer but are there to protect the insurance corporations & government.

While some people choose to live in their car just because they really want to do so, I'd say the majority of people who live in their car do so as an affordable alternative to doing something else they'd rather do. For instance, I have car camped for 4 months in my life. If I had the means to stay in hotels, I would have preferred to do so. If I had the means to drive some type of RV or tow a camper, I would have preferred to do so. But with what I had, I made do.

My wife and I lived in a car for like 6 months, then another car(smaller) and then finally a van, did that for 6 more months, finally got an opportunity to have an apartment with my brother and I moved in, been working steady. Van/car life is hard, but there’s also this pull I still feel cause I was in that mode for so long I still get a weird feeling every once in a while that I miss it, but I am blessed to have what I have now. I just remember every time we find something useful for van life, or every time we upgrade some minor thing, how much joy it brought us. That's awesome! As for the women who want to do this! I don't recommend without being extremely prepared with safety

I slept in my car last year for quite a few months. I would take my head rest off and move my seat all the way up before reclining my seat. This helped me to rest my feet perfectly. I’d stuff all my back windows with pillows or sweatshirts and black out/blanket out any visibility. I wish anyone in this scenario realizes their safety is important and keeps something on them at all times to fight off predators. A Barnes and Nobles in good neighborhood near a busy commercial road was my best best decision in discreet yet open visibility.

Okay one thing. The smell , what you exhale, without proper way to lift the exhaled air out ..is..it gets in absolutely everything ,every item. This is so unhealthy..at least you gotta have proper ventilation..it gets in the fabric the inside roof is made of. Every e. V. E r. Y thing!!!!

Me and my bf are living in a tiny lil tent atm And we have a camping stove so we can cook... And because we need to cook we need the knife we keep on us (the knife paired with the stove and other cooking stuff/food makes it so when we pack up in the morning to go do whatever, if we're found to have a knife there's good reason for it and it shouldn't be taken from us)..... But of course another reason for having it is so we feel safe sleeping outside and don't need to worry about being attacked We usually hide my clothes and shoes too so if anyone comes across the tent they think it's just a man and there's no sign of a woman being in the tent

My aunt had a Nissan Rouge which is an SUV. she turned the back into a bed and the front two seats were left normal. I went to visit her in Oregon and I never knew that bed in her car. I got to their house, and my grandma was with her. She took me to her car and said “ do u wanna see something cool?” I was wondering what I would see and said “Yes I wanna see”. She opened the back door and in there was this amazing bed she had made in the car. We went to a camping site and I laid in the back the whole ride.

Leaving los Angeles was probably the best thing I've done with my life. Got a nice job,a nice place, sometimes that life feels more exhausting but everyone has to experience their own life

I would be afraid of some criminal(s) attacking me as I slept. Cars are easy to break into. Be careful!
