This is my goal. Either transition completely from mowing to doing pavers or have a mowing division and a hardscaping division. Obviously, like many people, the upfront cost of the equipment required and the property to store all of that equipment is my biggest challenge. I'm hoping to dip my toe into the paver world this season. As always, great video Tigran...keep killing it!

I remember my first paver job. It was about an 80 ft by 3 ft wide walkway with one mean 90 degree radius turn in the middle. We learned a lot on that job. The next one was easier and so on. We don't do a ton of paver jobs but the ones we usually do are around 300-500 sq ft of patios and walkways.

nice! walkways charge more they are difficult to do.. lots of cuts

You can also rent equipment and get things dropped off from a supply yard sometimes. Keep your options open but it does add to your cost.

So this week I really got off on the wrong foot trying to work with a contractor that knows nothing about hardscape/pavers. He called me and asked if I’d take on this project under his small company. So I thought it would be a way in the door legally considering I’m not licensed myself. My request was to put together material cost have the excavation done by either my licensed guy who I’ve used on many of my personal projects or take a chance if he suggested someone he’s comfortable with considering he’s the one with the license. (I’ve found at this point it’s more economical until I’ve got more time running the machines) And last but not least I’m able to not only have all the numbers but also see the final (signed contract) as I’d say a 50/50 split would be fair considering I’m not only doing all the work, I’m planning/subbing out the excavation with his ok/he understands everything that’s going on and knows the sub is licensed/insured. Problem was since Sunday I’ve asked to see the final proposal/signed contract he was pretty much yes in to death then saying he forgot it. To sum it up.. Job started Monday, he never agreed to my guy excavating and took upon himself to hire his son to use a small dingo claiming he knows how to run it witch he didn’t know what he was doing, (not the kids fault) not to mention about 200 sqft of the patio area needed to come down 10” so that really cost more and set me back 2 days. Mind you he collected the check so I had not idea what that amount is. I had to address this as I felt I was working blind with the budget and also breaking my back on a part of the job that was supposed to be subbed out. So I finally had enough and pressed the fact that I wanted to see the contract and he now tells me no. Sorry for the long story, but this has left a really sour taste in my mouth, I’d really appreciate your opinion/thoughts and if you think I over stepped or handled this wrong please tell me as I lost for words right now. I knew this was a bad idea but without a license I was willing to eat some kinda set back just didn’t expect to be put in the dark after the job was a go. Thanks buddy for all your videos I hope to start small and honest with people as I’ve seen so many contractors trying to get over and for fill there promises. P.S this was supposed to be a friend “I know”
