My problem is my family and friends will be glad to support you from a distance and in line for all the free items. No body is ready to buy and support. Thanks for your videos

Learning how to say "No" to work you don't like is pretty powerful. It allows you to say "Yes!" to the things you really enjoy doing!

I am in a unique situation where I do not need to generate an income from my hobby. Therefore any income is to replenish the materials and perhaps obtain new tools. I'll only accept custom orders that allows time for me to do other retirement stuff like watching your KZbin channel or taking my jeep out on 4x4 trails. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for the valuable information Joe. I've been making small leather projects for several years as a hobby for friends and family. I had considered starting a small business for a while but I didn't know the best way to go about it and talked myself out of it. I also developed a health issue causing shakiness in my hands so I made the difficult decision to quit the hobby for a while. I recently did some work on a journal cover at the request of an artist friend and it turned out pretty nice. I've watched several of your videos and I've been truly inspired by not only your work but your story. I am returning to leather craft. Thank you again, Troy.

Thanks Joe. Lots of good advice here. I especially liked the thought of “try something new, see if you like it, if not, pivot”.

Great advice! I could have used this two years ago when I accidentally got started. Showed a holster in a video and things took off! Not complaining, but I've had myself busier than I wanted to be a few times. Thanks for the video!

That is the problem;! Once they find out that you do leather;! Oh can you make these , can you make this , can you make that;! I can make anything. But where is the time ; when you work 10 - 12 hours a day the last thing I want to do is leather . But I am getting ready to retire soon , so I am starting to ramp up 🆙 my work shop;! Ya you can get so busy just word of mouth;! I asked a customer one time , how did you get my number? He said Tic Toc / it’s out there you make something that people need . Sky is the limit , then you start making what they want!!!! Thanks for your time;!!

Thank you Joe for the advice. That is pretty much where I am at now, I have a Facebook and Instagram page and I am mostly selling to friends, family and coworkers and have more work than I can do on a part time hobby. I am wanting to go full time once I retire from my day job in a couple of years.

You can pay me by check, cash or Zelle. I’m not paying someone else to siphon off 3% for doing almost nothing.
