I was really intrigued by the last point you said, "thinking how smart the kid must have been instead of thinking how much hard work he put in." It's interesting because just thinking how hard the person getting a better grade worked gets you more fired up and motivated than thinking that the person was just "smart" gets you demotivated and maybe.. kinda.. insecure about you intellect or iq and stuff. Bottom line, the way you think and look at stuff really does matter and that stuff is hard to change.

This is a really down to earth conversation, I don't know if it's prerecorded or not but it just seems... chill? kinda reassuring? like yeah it's about how you stay motivated to study but he also talks about himself as well as the thoughts we have (not as youtubers) when studying. Not just the positive but negative effects, toxic productivity, balance, being harsh on yourself, false expectations. And they don't make it seem scary but acknowledge it. It's really nice to see streams like this good stream dude.

focus on improving your process (lead measures) each day make corrections and improvements to it everything else will automatically follow your goals your ambitions , grades , numbers everything as those are lag measures and after one point you wont care about it as you are focused on the lead measures and it becomes your default. distractions are enemy of deep work and should be kept to a minimal. deep work really is a phenomenal book and it has some really valuable life lessons. atomic habits also suggests us to change our focus to identity based habits from outcome based habits. cast your votes for your identity everyday and you become that person that you truly desire.
