How I Sublimate on Oracal 651 White

I know there are probably many ways to do this, however this is the way I sublimate onto Oracal 651 white permanent vinyl.

Couldn't one do the following: 1. Prepare your Print & Cut job in your software (Design Space or Silhouette Studio). 2. Print your sublimation image first (in reverse, naturally). Then set it aside for a moment. 3. Laminate your Oracal 651 White with the clear laminate material. 4. Next, sublimate your printed image onto the prepared Oracal laminate from step 3 above. 5. THEN, send the Print & Cut job to your machine for the cutting. Just curious if this sequence would work OK, as it would save a little time. Thank you for your advice. -Betty-

I have been trying to do this for over a week (651 to Laminate) everyone says heat press them together-great, Except it never comes off looking correct. Your way of running it through a laminating machine first.....WHAT?? Why couldn't I have found you 10 sheets of laminate & several yards of 651 ago? Thank you So Much!!!

Today, I tried this with removable cricut vinyl it did not work for me it was a total disaster, the vinyl shrunk a little in some parts and it curled a little. Then I tried with sticker paper and that worked a whole lot better. The settings I used was 330°F for 40 seconds on firm pressure and it was a success!

Cant sub on just any vinyl so u know. Thats why circuit vinyl didn't work

Thank you! 💖💖 I have not done this on htv. With the laminate it won't work on htv bc the laminate is to stiff and will peel off with all that movement. But I have seen some people sublimating on some clear htv recently so I'm really interested to try that.

I have gotten this question so many times and I never have an answer. So I think I'm going to make one and set it outside to see how it holds up and do updates. I know a lot of people make outdoor decor and it's gotta stand up to the elements. 💖

@@hobbyjobbycreations I've made some Pet Memorial plaques for my Mum using Lamination Sheets and sublimation. They have been outside in a garden in the North of England in various weather conditions for at least 4 months now and they look fine, they haven't faded still look good.

Iam so new to this...I've seen other videos where they print design on the sticker paper, laminate it then cut. But you laminated the oracal vinyl first right? The you sublimated on the laminated oracal vinyl, right. It's a bit confusing when you watch it done one way and then another. Thank you so much.

It's hard not to get bubbles on oracal 651 without the laminator. It's easy to laminate canvas with the heat press

peel when you like because sub paper will not stick to right side of laminate, but I suggest letting sticker cool

So you laminated the Oracal 651? You used clear. Did you use laminate also?

When I sublimated on the clear I did not laminate and I did 312°F for 40 seconds. The results aren't quite as great in my opinion, but still pretty nice 😊

With laminate over top I haven't had that problem.. but with no laminate I have. I decreased the heat a bit and decreased the time. It's been a while but I think I did about 360 or so for about 45 seconds without laminate. If paper sticks use a damp cloth or sponge and lightly rub the paper off 😊

So I have not tried this on htv. Bc of the firmness of the laminate I probably wouldn't use it on htv. However Siser makes something called easy subli which is sublimation htv. It's pretty awesome. 😊 the process works a lot like this one but without the laminate 😁

This is overkill! The 651 vinyl is so you don't have to use laminate sheets.

i have been working on testing sublimating on oracale 651 and all 3 brands of sub paper i use leave a residue on the vinyl even with lower temp/time so that is what i'm expecting the laminating sheet prevents. i've ordered a laminator and pouches to try this method.
