This video really touched me. I didn't expect this documentation of kind and hospitable indigenous people living in villages and farms in the jungle - after having heard of the impassable, dangerous Darien gap. Its really something special you did with this documentation. And as in your videos before you have this raw and authentic style of filming.
@LandonBishoff2 ай бұрын
Ahh that’s awesome my friend! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! It was totally a surprise to me as well! I was expecting a lot more of a heavier dangerous feeling. Other than some parts of Yaviza, I just didn’t feel it. Thanks for the kind words! Happy Sunday

Wow. It’s too bad KZbin doesn’t have a ❤ button, because a thumbs up doesn’t do it justice! First of all, love the narration and whole edit. Perfect combo of “real and raw” and cinematic. Second of all, love your message in this video and others to not just automatically believe in hype that a place is “dangerous.” But to go and see with your own eyes, have a REAL experience, and make your own opinions. Third, wow. What you did for that tribe is so incredible and inspiring. You are the real deal man. This was a heartwarming video. Fourth, I rarely take the time to comment on KZbin videos. Just yours, because they’re exceptional and you deserve to know that. - Lacey
@LandonBishoff2 ай бұрын
Lacey, since you normally don’t write comments, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write out this masterpiece of a compliment and encouraging words! Yes, I do try my best to always have an open mind and not let information I’ve gotten from others taint, my ideas or perception on people or an area. It can be tricky because you also want to heat council and be safe, but so far whatever system I got going on it seems to be working okay. As for the tribe, they are just so incredible. It was such an honor to be able to spend so much time with them and like I said in the video, thanks too people like yourself and just people here on KZbin who have donated money. Those are the inspiring people I’m just simply delivering the gift. Again thank you so much and hope this finds you well! Thanks Lacey :)

Oh my goodness Landon. I have been praying for you. I was worried when it had been so long between videos. I had to remind myself that you probably didn’t have WiFi. Your journey has been magnificent. So many kind and hard working people that you have met. I hope you have been keeping like an address book to be able to stay in touch later. Are the yams planted or are they natural wild grown? Are they similar to the yams back here at home? Are the rivers not full of dangerous fish and snakes? Crocs? Just curious. Ohhhh the sloth, I’ve always wanted to touch one, are they truly soft like you said? I’ve always felt like they would have course hair. Stay safe and God Bless you friend
@LandonBishoff2 ай бұрын
Thanks Tammy I was literally thinking about you as well when I didn’t upload. I was just hoping you weren’t stressing too much. Yeah I have contact with all of these people in the video. The Yams are planted, then they get left and the jungle overgrows and you gotta cut in back down when you harvest them. Not similar at all in my opinion to yams here in the states. Maybe it’s just the way they get prepared though. These ones aren’t as sweet and more of a potato flavor. The rivers do have crocodiles haha but mostly they stay down lower to the mouth of the ocean

Wow! What an absolutely amazing experience for you! Your videos are amazing, I felt like I was right there with you, minus the hard labor. Lol I still have so many questions, such as, how often do they do the trip with their goods? Are they armed? What is the schooling like? Ect. I would love to see so much more! Thank you for sharing your story with us!
@LandonBishoff2 ай бұрын
Hahaha monies the hard labor! 😂😂 yeah theirs a bit of seasonality to all this stuff, by right now maybe once a week Diriano will take boats down. Once all the Yams are harvested other things will come into season more and other tasks will take its place. The boats do move down the river quite frequently though for all kinds of things. None of these guys were armed at all. It’s just like any small town, everyone knows everyone a bit. And to take a hit or attack a boat like the one I was on just doesn’t make a ton of sense. Everyone knows each others business and how people spend their time. An even better example is the bananas. People don’t rob them, because everyone is aware of how much property everyone has and they can do the math in their head. If for some reason you just keep having an endless supply of bananas to sell people will put two and two together. There are small schools out in these communities. To get your license to teach her in Panama as part of your degree you have to do a mandatory service of I believe two years. In that time government can send you to any location to teach and you don’t get tot he choose where it is. This is mostly how the remote locations get their teachers.
@christalg73832 ай бұрын
@LandonBishoff thank you for sharing your knowledge! I just wasn't sure if they would encounter theft of their boats while traveling, especially seeing that they slept on them to protect their harvest. It also is so incredibly concerning that they put in sooooo much manual labor and days upon days to deliver literally a boat load of produce that I only have to pay pennies for by the time it reaches the grocery store. Really does put things into perspective. I know from my travels how typically governments are usually the ones to benefit from the hard workers, but it is sad to see. I am also love watching your travels for your honesty! You didn't feel uncomfortable or in danger, so you didn't try to elude to it. You didn't try to create a narrative that wasn't there. Thank you for that! To be fair, I've felt safer in the places I have been vs. the closest city to me. If you ever get down time, lol, I hope you are writing a book! I would love to read about the ins and outs that you can't put into a half-hour video!
