It is so refreshing to see a finance KZbinr with a lifestyle, income, and portfolio similar to mine. You are so relatable, and I really appreciate your videos.

I am using google sheets as well to track my finances. Like Personal Finance, I had used Mint and its also having challenges with some downloading for some of my accounts. This is one of the reasons i went over to tracking it myself. One thing i started doing that has really made it better is using a google form to add my expenses as they occur. I can quickly update my spreadsheet from my phone after buying something like, gas, food, etc. Taking the receipt and entering it using the google form. I setup a icon on my first page of my phone that goes right to the form. This has really made me much more aware of what i'm spending and its fun to see if i can do better month to month on my total expenses.

I've lost track on how many videos I've watched on KZbin to create a decent budget on my excel, I'm not a big fan of google sheets, I've been using excel for quite a while now so it's my preferred spreadsheet program. So my point is that your spreadsheet for budget tracking is by far the best one I've found to date. I'm gonna start using it, but I'm gonna tweak it some to fit me. Thank you

Just like my computer, my clothes and food, I also don't track my car and house in my net-worth. I think of them as life-tools, not a financial asset. If anything, they are more of a liability sometimes. Thanks for the video.

@PersonalFinancewithLeila
@PersonalFinancewithLeila 3 жыл бұрын
I can't add it to the template because not everyone has the same amount of debt/loans and some people may want it in different spots! But I use =(Total spent-debt 1-debt 2-savings 1-savings 2, etc) Does that make sense? You would click the cells for each one!

Are you paid weekly, biweekly or monthly (from your regular job)? Also, do you manually calculate all your categories to enter into your spreadsheet each month?
@PersonalFinancewithLeila
@PersonalFinancewithLeila 3 жыл бұрын
I am paid once a month, on the last business day of the month! I'm not sure what you mean by your question exactly, but my categories stay about the same every month and I copy and paste usually for the following month. Then I fill in what I know and/or expect each expense to be.
@angelanderson7577
@angelanderson7577 3 жыл бұрын
@@PersonalFinancewithLeila I'm sorry my question was not clear. Like for variable spending catorgies, groceries, household, out to eat, etc. Do you track where/how much you spend in that category, in a notebook or spreadsheet? In the video, you showed for groceries that you were just inputting the totals each time you bought something at the grocery store (to make a sum for total spent). Do you do that for all variable spending? I would be glad to share with you my spreadsheet I made and use for my budgeting. I could customize it for a monthly income. Theres a "transactions" tab where you enter your purchases, which includes drop down menus for spending categories,how you paid, and if you used sinking funds-to take it out of that category too. And then in another tab in the spreadsheet it automatically pulls the data from the transactions tab and you can see how much you spent in each category. I really enjoy budgeting, and when I started there were no tools for people with weekly incomes, so I created my own "tool" and I really enjoy it. But people budget differently, so if what you are doing works for you that's great 🙂

Why did you decide for the Roth IRA, instead the traditional 401K!? Curious! 😇

@inea-fijourney22

In a Roth IRA, you invest with money you have already paid taxes on. But that money will grow until retirement, and all the gains are tax free. Because you already paid taxes now. So It is better in theory to pay taxes on $6,000 now, than pay taxes on $50,000 30 years from now.

@@Manelly It depends on your specific situation. Youll have to sit with someone to analize your situation looking at all the facts. I think Leila does one on one coaching but Im uncertain if she goes this deep. Check it out. Personally I view my situation a bit different, Im a CPA - who let lifestyle creep add years to my working life. But Ive turn my ship around and should be able to retire early, hopefully by 40! You had a great question. I will definitely add it to my list of topics for the CPA content channel. This one is my personal situation channel 😅
