This is definitely one of the clearest and best videos about Foreflight that I've seen so far. Fantastic work!! I live in South Florida now, but lived in Pittsburgh most of my life. Learned to fly at AGC, so it was very nostalgic for me.

Great Videos! - Both Parts 1 & 2. Got my PPL in Dec 21 and just started actively using ForeFlight in the aircraft on my iPad Mini. These videos were very helpful for an upcoming Cross Country flight I have with my son. The Part 2 was awesome and the go-around was great. 😎👍

Nice work. You and i are roughly in the same “stage” of flight. Got my PPL a few months ago and getting close to 100 hrs. I’ve been using Fpreflight since first solo. Honestly watched this video thinking “May learn something.....may not.” Well, only took a minute or two for me to get my big take away. I really like how you have all the performance configurations of your aircraft in settings. I will be making adjustments.

I've been watching your videos, and I love them! I just started flight training as a student pilot (for a hobby), and I'm looking into foreflight. Quick question, is the version you're showing here Foreflight Basic Plus, Pro Plus, or Performance Plus? I only need the basics, and GPS/traffic monitoring, any advice?

Hi there - I'm using Pro Plus, but the bottom plan is perfect for basic VFR flying. You can always upgrade later at anytime if you desire some additional features.

Indeed great video Chris, super informative. Question for you, you’re using an iPad mini correct? If so, are you happy with the size / form factor? Currently a student pilot myself and want to incorporate an iPad into the mix and waffling between the mini and the 10.9” version (but leaning towards the mini). Would welcome your opinion...
@MidlifePilot4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that’s the iPad Mini 5. And it is the PERFECT size for the tight quarters of the 172. It is super fast and responsive, supports Apple Pencil (which I hope to add soon). It has been perfect for me.

Really enjoyed this video Chris! Did you use an iPad Mini 5 with higher than 64 GB of memory? ForeFlight, and other aviation apps, use a bunch of memory. 😃
@MidlifePilot4 жыл бұрын
Nope, just the 64GB Mini 5, WiFi only. You can download all charts for all states east of the Mississippi, and ForeFlight only takes 5GB. The entire country takes 11GB. Plenty of room for me since all I'm using this iPad for are flight related apps.

@@MidlifePilot Thanks. Very helpful to me as a novice just starting out in ground school! Q: what is the biggest ipad you recommend in light of older eyes trying to see details on a small screen? And where should I mount it? and of course what mounting hardware should I get? So I fly a 65 172G. I put in my POH performance profiles into FF, but for cross country flights FF says to use one of their performance profiles for better accuracy. Did you have this issue as well?
@MidlifePilot4 жыл бұрын
I built all my own, and use them exclusively. I've been tweaking them and finally got them real close. What ForeFlight subscription level do you have? I'm on Pro Plus - but if you have Performance Plus, it does come with some more profiles that Basic and Pro Plus don't have.
@Propwashpirate4 жыл бұрын
@@MidlifePilot I have performance plus. I’ve been tweaking on mine a little bit here and there but being a low time pilot I’m not sure I’m tweaking it the right way. I wish the POH for the old birds had better info more like the newer ones do.

iFly GPS for those that do not follow the sheep. Price is great and a kid start using right off.
@MidlifePilot3 жыл бұрын
🙄 Yeah, this has nothing to do with following the sheep. I demoed all the EFBs, and ForeFlight for me was hands down the winner. Worth every penny.
@ele48533 жыл бұрын
@@MidlifePilot My point is very simple. As always in this culture, "everybody" chooses one option and guess what happen to the competition? 4 years ago there was no EFB available. In about 3 years "everybody" (the sheep) is choosing one EFB only. No! they are not choosing because of features. iFly GPS does everything Foreflight does and better. Faster easier to use and cheaper. With something Foreflight does not offer. Version for Android devices. What kind of people are these? Ask yourself that question. Oh! I chose that because my uncle said so .Oh! I chose that because my friend said so. I am saying what I am saying because I, from the first ones popping out on the market I have tried every single one of these EFB. My criteria? Start using right off and see if you can make something out of the EFB. Foreflight? OMG what a stupid interface! The first one that came out failed user interface. Garmin? The same crap. On and On and On... after 3 years of incessant "try out" phase iFly GPS wins hands down! Why "people" choose Foreflight? yea, my uncle said so.... So many great options out there. No, the "sheep" are lazy. Let's choose what "everybody is using, no matter how expensive or how difficult to use it. Not even try to see how it goes. Oh no! if "everybody" is not using it’s not good and embarrassing. What my friends are going to say about that? LOL. iFly GPS and many others a great options. However, we live in a culture of "sheep" insecure, beta males that all the time are making choices because "everybody" chose that. That's what I am talking about. This is the same reason we have Amazon (destroying local businesses) because of the choices of lazy "sheep". Now, talking about EFB in my case for ex: I am not going to choose an EFB that Boeing purchase. Two basic reasons. A, Everything Boeing puts its hands on it screws up. B it's expensive and it does not offer an intuitive interface. iFly GPS is a great option for those that are not professional. User interface is super easy to start right off. Price is unbeatable for what it does. All the features Foreflight offers iFly GPS has it PLUS it offers platform to Android. That Foreflight does not offer. Oh look Robert Redford uses foreflight, Oh! I use it too! LOL Sheeeeeep! LOL

@@ele4853 why go on a Foreflight information video and post this crap? if you don't like or use Foreflight then scroll on LOL. Any person who is a pilot or training to be a pilot can and should be able to make this decision on their own. I suggest if you want to promote another version of software that you like and want to get that info out there make your own KZbin video about it. If your video is well made and informative then maybe you can stop people from being "Sheep" in a more productive manner.
