I’m a Cancer patient/survivor and for three years now I’ve been taking pain medicine. It’s unbelievable how they make you feel like you are a drug abuser when you ask for pain meds. Thank God the law protects Cancer patients so we are able to get them. I am in pain 24/7 so I couldn’t get by without them. I have also used the essential oils and other natural remedies which help but don’t necessarily take it away completely. Also really like the ASMR videos and sounds. Please let me know who your faves are! Thank you for the update and I love your nail color! Super cute!

Lisa Love this is my biggest annoyance also. Just moved and asked the new dr to refill my Ativan for about 90 pills a year. Had the script for 20 years. She wanted me to sign a pain management contract. When I refused I got written up because I told her I was not giving up any of my rights to her. It is horrible. Ageism is also horrible.

You are doing an awesome job managing your pain Maggie-after so many surgeries and complications, you know your body and how to deal with the pain. Thanks for the updates. The barn looks amazing!! During my chemo, I was unable to sleep due to the chemo meds. I used essential oils everyday. I found that along with Lavender, Sandalwood really helped me relax and sleep.

I love how you talk about alternatives to managing pain. Ive had three spinal surgeries and one of them they did two surgeries at once since it would stabilize all my broken pieces again. My best friend bought me one of those U shaped pregnancy pillows. Best thing ever because i got cut open on my spine and then my lower stomach so i had to stay on my right side. Also i used a tens unit so much that they actually offered to fight with my insurance to get a nerve stimulator implant on my spinal cord so i wouldnt feel much pain from my waist down. Before my pain management was 5 mg of roxycodone every 4-6 hrs. Now i take 2-3 tramadol everyday and 4 mg of tizanadine at night to help me sleep. I have been taking gabapentin since i was 17 and im 33. I do have spinal cord damage so i will always take it but i just take it at night. Plus im so used to taking it, it doesnt effect me anymore. At first i was looped out.

I'm a former psw that planned to go into nursing, specifically wound care but have given up due to my chronic illnesses. I love your blogs. so very real. I metabolize pain medications so quickly. I have had many surgeons bottom me out several times after waking up due to uncontrolled pain. I had one dr ready to send me home on 9mgs dilaudid x2hrs. my spouse had to refuse to pick me up. I was so out of it. They are either so stingy or so crazy with over prescribing. I've never had a good hospital experiance.

I have several chronic conditions including type one diabetes, gastroparesis, stenosis in my hip facets and lumbar spine, and fibromyalgia. I’m very lucky to have been with my pain management doctor for many years and truly get pain medications appropriate for my conditions. I had major surgery last year to rebuild my esophagus which resulted in the gastroparesis flaring for the first time in a decade. It’s causing me a great deal of issues and discomfort. I couldn’t eat before the surgery and now can’t eat again. It’s hard to keep my spirits up.

The barn is looking fantastic! You are doing that full time now, awesome. I can't wait to see when it is finished. You keep touching your face. I have chronic pain because of chronic pancreatitis. I like to imagine the pain floating up out of me, getting caught by the ceiling fan and swirled around, and then flung through the window where it soars up into the air and away! This works even better with imaginary ceiling fans.

Unfortunately, I’ve had to be on pain meds for years, with a great pain management doctor. Having gastroparesis, short gut, and EoE I can’t take any meds orally, and I can’t take any NSAIDS without stomach bleeds. We tried everything before resorting to pain medication, the craziest thing is that narcotics slow your transit, with fentanyl my intestinal transit is under ten minutes, which is really bad. I have wanted to get off fentanyl patches for a lower med for a long time, but the docs don’t trust my absorption to put meds through my j tube, and obviously, we aren’t putting narcotics through my central line. My thing is that everyone is different like you said, and I wish that they would take the time to realize that, to everyone on pain medication is a drug addict. I take mine as directed and I am raising an autistic kiddo alone while manage three complex GI conditions, heart issues, and can’t keep my blood counts up. I think you’re channel is great because you tackle the issues that so many of us struggle with. I’m nervous because I need another big surgery, my crazy anatomy from so many surgeries, most of my stomach being removed, bowel being removed, nothing is in the right place anymore. My gj is obstructed by my anatomy causing massive leaking of bile and stomach acid, which is really painful, and my new tube feed isn’t going well, which means they will bring up TPN again. My last big surgery was six years ago, they left my midline open to close from the inside out because of my issues with infections and sepsis. I’m 34 now, and a tough surgery with an older kiddo should be easier, but my kiddo doesn’t understand why he can’t just jump on momma and give big hugs all the time. My son is my miracle, the docs said we would never survive. I really appreciate you sharing your journey with the world.

I'm a retired Critical Care/ Critical Care Adm. nurse and also a chronic pain client I feel that today's atmosphere tends to favor the abusers and/or criminals rather than clients in moderate to severe pain. Anyone with level 7.5-10 should be able to get narcotic pain management. I have seen post-op abd. midline surgical clients receive an Ibuprofen rather than a Vicodin or Dilaudid. That level of pain over-whelms a client to the point where they can not be distracted because their pain is their total focus.

Lol, Maggie over doing it..only once in a while. :) Maggie, a long question..and please be honest with me as a nurse. So a few surgeries back, I woke from a nap in my hospital bed. My feet and calf’s were swollen, then I noticed I had a huge (long spider vein like.) I asked my nurse to please take me off fluids, I was swelling bad..She said she had to get the ok from my dr first. Then my swelling was worsening I told her, and I showed her the vein that was new too. Ok, I was just turning into an umpalumpa, my face, fingers, everything was swelling and I was getting more veins showing. I told my nurse again..now this was the next day, and she said she was still waiting to hear from him. I demanded to be taken off, she wouldn’t. I cried and told every nurse I was getting so ugly and nobody cared! She explained how swelling is normal so the dr doesn’t get too worried. I said NOW WAIT A MINUTE!! Look at me, I’m a different person, I have spider veins all over my legs when I never had any, and I’m a balloon! She look at my stuff in the computer, she told me the ordering nurse didn’t put how bad , let me..she did and dr Thekk called right away. He said take me off fluids, and to give me a water pill. I went 2 whole days this way, Maggie, I have lymphedema and spider veins. Also now I have leaky veins. All because of what wasn’t done! Please be honest, what would you have done for me as a nurse? Now Maggie, I’m sick at how my body looks now. It’s bad enough I have had umpteen surgeries, but my body has changed this other way. I’m somewhat a vein person, makeup, nicely dressed, etc...ok, So ya...what would you have done? xoxo P.s. I agree, pain is different I’m us all. I too live with my heating pad. Hey, have you seen the full body ones? I have one and I love it!!

Thank you for sharing this information. My total proctectomy surgery is scheduled for November 3,2020 so any helpful information is appreciated...as I am sure you know. I decided against j pouch... this old guy isn’t interested in more surgeries than is absolutely necessary. I take so many drugs it’s crazy: gabapentin, robaxin, duloxatin for neck radiculopathy pain as well as jardiance for type 2 diabetes that also helps reduce the neuropathy I experience. Then there’s the levothyroxin, omeprazol, methotrexate, folic acid...and don’t forget Remicade, Benadryl and Solumedrol infusion every 8 weeks. The life of having UC wreak havoc on my body for over 40 years in. Cardiologist is putting off statins at this time although my tryglicerides are increasing over time.

Also, Arie still has a few of the MOOD products on sale, 3/10$... those are cbd infused body care, like muscle balm, lip balms, and body lotions. They also have some aroma therapy roller ball items on sale. I just ordered 2 more muscle balms and another lip balm... and yes! They work THAT well! Better than my homemade cbd muscle cream 😢, which makes me kinda sad. I guess I just have to reformulate my recipe.

Or else the people who have damage don’t have time (or power) to watch videos the day or two after a hurricane! Five years ago I was hit by an ambulance (my body, not my car). It broke my hip and pelvis, but thankfully nothing was displaced so no surgery. I had a concussion before they hit me, but the hit made it worse. By day 2, I was on only Tylenol and Advil, alternating them, and also some concussion headache medicine.

But with Hot Water Bottles and Hot Pod Products and the like, people need to be careful. As over use can lead to a condition called Erythema ab igne. It's a skin condition caused by long term exposure to heat. In a lot of cases this can be fixed and reversed. But in some cases it can't and can lead to worse skin and tissue damage and complications ( Unfortunately including cancer)...... And I sympathise with You Zak as I suffer from Misophonia. One of my main triggers is 'mouth breathing ' . It doesn't have to be loud. It can be a mere whisper of 'mouth breathing ' at certain times and it just drives me up the bloody darn wall. And I feel like putting gaffer tape over peoples mouths when it happens ( but just to reassure people I don't put tape over peoples mouths but I sure do darn feel like doing it)....... ☮️⚛️🌏

When it comes with pain I must have a high pain tolerance because I pop 2 alive and I'm fine. The only time I take actual prescribe painkillers is if I am crying and can't Talk. I definitely think that aromatherapy is a great idea to help manage pain. As for asmr I'm like zac I can't handle it. It creeps me out and grosses me out especially the food ones

Im a nurse too (uk) and it perfectly safe to take oxycontin and tylenol (paracetamol) together. They're not in the same group of drugs. So morphine and oxycodone would be unsafe, as would oxycodone and codeine xxx

I think people are worried about her liver and stuff. People thought she was taking oxycontin with Tylenol then taking more Tylenol on top with it. Just like my doctors couldn't believe that a few years back my pain doctor had me on hydrocodone with Tylenol then more Tylenol on top of it

@@peachxtaehyung oh ok. In the UK oxycontin is on its own. We only combine codeine to dose of 1gram (paracetamol) and 60mg (codeine) in 2 tablets. Coz oxycontin is a much stronger drug than codeine, its nearly 20 times stronger than the latter. Codeine is a 10th of the strength of morphine, and oxycodone is double the strength of morphine. I think its weird that oxycodone is combined as one tablet. I think Maggie is managing her pain excellently, the dosage of oxycodone is appropiate for her size. And oxycodone does damage the kidneys less, its actually the dosage we'd give to a renal patient as it a less half life in the body. Its a shame that NSAIDS arent typically good for IBD as diclofenac is a fantastic analgesic for kidney spasms xxx
