Nobody cares whether France recognises the military take over or not, what matters is that Niger is a sovereign nation and as such, has the power to execute their own policies. So, France must comply with their instructions to quit. No more, no less.

Because they still want Africans to be slaves. Even the animals in USA and Europe have far batter living conditions all because they exploited Africa, middle east , Pakistan , Afghanistan etc. the policy here is to take every thing and give nothing back. Recently USA backed regime change in Pakistan removed our elected president Imran khan, and now USA is trying to influence elections in our country to bring their corrupt pulpits in power.

Going by the ambassador's attitude, it is clear that the French still do not get it - they're stuck in the mindset of the '50s and '60s. The times have changed, and this is 21st century. France must ship out of Africa and only re-engage at the terms of the host nations. VIVA Afrika ✊

Niger new authorities have the upper hand no matter how you put it. First the action is happening in their country, second what’s the point of having a military base in a country that doesn’t want you there? what’s the point if you have to stay within the base all day? What’s the point of an ambassador when he doesn’t fulfill his job to engage with the country authorities? And anyway, the relationship with the future authorities will not be ideal for a long period of time. Now, if French authorities insist to stay, it’s because they want to continue to appear as a powerful nation but the reality is that now is a new era. An era for respect, equal relationship and in this era, France will only loose the consideration of African nations with all this contempt. There is no coming back from this.

If it was the other way around... Then Africans would be stealing European resources from Europe. Africa would be exploiting Europe, mocking Europeans intelligence and abilities to govern themselves without African "help". ..Any gains of Africans from Europe would come at the detriment to Europeans. Africa would be attempting to hold power over Europe by placing sellout puppet leaders in power to keep control over the Europeans, for African interests.. The Africans would have military bases inside of France, and France would have no military bases inside of Africa... The Europeans would have a good reason in wanting the Africans out, If the EU supported Africa over Europeans... The Africans would have created terror groups to spread in Europe so the Africans could claim they are coming to help only to continue control through destabilizing the countries of Europe.... Then the situation would be the other way around...Stop trying to use a false equivalent to prove your non-existent point.... If things were the other way.... Ha you are hilarious...

It is not the 1800s anymore and France is not the global power it once was. Economically France is not weak. But they cannot compare with the United States or China. So where china can build large infrastructure for cheap and America can wash Africa in money the French comparatively are limited in reach and scope so African countries move closer to the new global powers. Militarily france is a regional power and their region is not Africa. The countries France imagines as in sphere of influence are in the middle of a desert a thousand KM away from Paris. Very literally Timbuktu and it’s surrounding areas. France does not have the population, military transport, landing craft, air power logistical capabilities or land forces to occupy Timbuktu or any mainland African country. French speaking or otherwise. Even assuming the African governments immediately collapse France does not have the capabilities to occupy a country the size of Ivory Coast which is roughly the same size as Iraq and fight a full scale insurgency in the middle of Africa. Even when the had the support of the global community and regional governments and militaries, France was not able to beat small scale insurgents in the Sahel. How well do you think it would go for them if they were on their own and fighting as a hostile power. And that is again assuming the the African governments instantly collapse and do not receive any regional or international assistance. Combined all this with the fact that being anti French is (lowkey) baked into the African identity and it becomes clear why France is losing its influence. In the 1800s France had more recourses, people and guns than most of the rest of the world. Today they do not. The remaining influence France has is purely inertial. Lingering from the days they actually did have global say. France didn’t lose influence in Africa because they wanted to. They lost influence because they could not compete on the world stage. Britain understood this half a century ago and let go. France didn’t learn their lesson so they painfully and visibly lost their influence on the global stage and tarnished their international reputation in ways that will l be hard to reverse.

France has no option, I like what the former ambassador said though Macron is adamant about it, Bazoum is not getting power anytime soon. France should just leave. France has no political or moral ground to intervene militarily in Niger even when ECOWAS asks them, otherwise the former ambassador is right France can only engage in military intervention if ECOWAS asked even when it is illegal.

Military coups are a dime a dozen and various western nations recognize them immediately depending on the country. The problem is that France never treated its former colonies as partners only as subordinates. Due to the Cold War and systematic racism they were able to get away with doing so. Times have changed and France made a conscious decision not to change with it and this is the end result.

AU and ECOWAS represent French interests, not African interests! Worse of all, Western countries and especially France are the one funding these institutions in order to favor them in any decision! That's why they're dead institutions, can't think and act on behalf of African people. So, no African in his/her sane mind should trust AU and ECOWAS!Africans MUST unite and get rid off of these institutions!

Italian Deputy PM Luigi Maio speaks during a news conference in Cairo, Egypt on August 29, 2018. "France have never stopped colonizing Africa, if France didn’t have its African colonies, because that's what they should be called, it would be the 15th largest world economy instead it's among the first, exactly because of what it is doing in Africa." " I've stopped being a hypocrite talking only about the effects of immigration and it's time to talk about cause." Di Maio said at the weekend "The EU should sanction all these countries like France that are impoverishing African countries and are causing those people to leave."
