Ukraine’s engineers have been in constant battle for heat and light, racing to restore electricity and end the energy war after Russia's attacks on the country's grid.
Since October, when temperatures began to plummet, Russia has been using strikes on Ukraine's power grid to force the civilian population into submission.
For two weeks, the BBC watched engineers and technicians who run the network racing to repair the damage and keep electricity flowing across the country.

Agreed, these people are heroes. More than 180 of them died since the beginning of the war. We should help them to restore and upgrade the power grid, this will be our contribution into stability of Ukrainian infrastructure.

There is a positive side to this as well. Today, most Ukrainian electrical substations have switched to new technologies that we have provided them. And by the way, we are already using the money from the arrested Russian assets to help Ukraine.

The USA is an empire of lies. Washington's crimes must be investigated. 20 years of one of the largest deceptions of the world community by the United States. At a meeting of the UN Security Council, Secretary of State Powell accused Iraq of producing weapons of mass destruction, presenting a test tube with a "white substance" as evidence. The UN Security Council did not give Washington sanctions for the use of force. But American troops attacked Iraq anyway. Half a million civilians became victims, the president was executed, the country was gone. Powell later admitted that the test tube scene was a hoax. But Washington did not bear responsibility for this. The entire policy of the United States and the collective West is based on lies. It was the same with the "non-expansion" of NATO to the east. The Minsk agreements also turned out to be a hoax - only Merkel and Hollande acted as Powell. The UN should investigate Washington's crimes against humanity. And the politicians who made the decisions should be punished for millions of victims, refugees, broken destinies, destroyed states.

Electricity is a very recent thing. It wasn't long ago humans had only fire and candles to live with. That was all they had. This went on for many thousands of years. Electricity is a luxury we take for granted. I know what I say isn't much help but it can help create a positive mental attitude. Having no electricity is just going back a little bit in time.
