As someone who just suffered a miscarriage, the thought of people throwing away viable embryos makes me feel physically sick. What I wouldn’t give for my baby to have been viable… I didn’t get that choice. ETA: Y'all... when I said "throwing away viable embryos", I wasn't referring to the ones that resulted in Shane & Ryland's babies, or to any child that comes from surrogacy for that matter. I was referring to the part of the video where they were presented with six viable embryos & chose to keep two of them, and the inevitable fate that befalls the remaining four. Obviously any living baby is not a "waste", regardless of who their parents are or how they came into the world.

@proud the American adoption system (and cps) is ridiculous. It’s easier for Americans to adopted abroad bc the system is so bad. One of the biggest problems is most states have a 3 strike policy- so kids go back to bad homes until the “parents” have had the child taken away 3 times (as most states have incorrectly kept laws claiming that it’s in the child’s best interest to be kept with bio parents). IMO it should be 1 strike and you’re out. The 3 strike rule (which is followed unless the bio parents agree to sign over their rights or it’s an extremely extremely severe case- which is like 1%) means kids are being sent back to horrible homes (yes the bio parents have to do classes or clean their home or w/e the issue is, but who really upholds what they were supposed to learn? Or say a mom who agrees not to have her abusive bf around the kids- do u think she’s going to keep him away? Probably not) which means the children are getting older and developing more and more issues due to neglect and abuse which makes them less and less desirable for adoption 🤷‍♀️ many of these kids that should be taken away are being used by their bio “parents” for welfare money that the adults use on themselves rather than the intended purpose of taking care of the children. Those adults should be arrested not only for child abuse but also misusing taxpayer funds…. Also as a side note some foster parents will wait until their foster children turn 18 to adopt so they can keep getting money from taxpayers to help take care of the kids🤷‍♀️

IVF specialists are not going to waste time and money implanting embryos that are not likely to survive the thawing process. They all start with the top grade embryos first leaving the remaining embryos to either be donated to science, to other couples or destroyed after they have had their desired amount of children. Most of them don't want their own DNA donated to science or others so choose destruction instead. This is almost everyone who has ever done IVF, not just these two pieces of trash.

My issues with surrogacy stems from the fact that the only vetting they do is on the surrogate. Which, yes, extremely important. But both sides need looking into. Recently i have been thinking about these kinds of things more as my sister just did IVF. As much as I'm happy for her, her husband was convicted of molestation of a 6yr old when he was a teen. Even if there was some sort of background check or anything of the sort, he'd pass. As, again, he himself was under 18 (even though the girl was 6). It just made me realize that people that have done far worse can do this without anyone blinking an eye. Also, Shane Dawson is one of the worst people on the Internet as a whole.

They advertised in the newspaper when I went to college in 06' at UC Davis. I had told myself at that time it sounds like a good idea because I need the money for college. I could never bring myself to it because I thought about "what if." Those are technically my children and they might grow up and think I didn't love them. Same thing for surrogacy. I have been asked to be a surrogate but once you know you're pregnant and you feel them move, it is an amazing feeling of bond with the baby. My brother and sister-in-law had a son through IVF. They tried for several years but couldn't conceive because my brother received heavy amounts of chemotherapy when he had cancer as a child, and my sister-in-law had health complications that prevented her from getting pregnant. A few years ago they were picked by a nonprofit foundation that pays for the entire cost of IVF. They never would have been able to pay for it, so my whole family is incredibly grateful. They had two fertilized eggs but only one of them took. Meanwhile, Shane and Ryland can buy a dozen fertilized eggs, pick their favorites, and ignore the rest. I might also add that if you've ever watched their content, you know that they are in no way fit to be parents. Disgusting comments aside, they're not responsible or mature enough. They're like grown up teenagers. I predict that they'll collapse under the pressure.

I’ve made far fewer mistakes than Shane and still wasn’t allowed to adopt embryos. Their father took off pretty soon after I gave birth, not like he was much help, so I was left to raise the 3 entirely on my own. No grandparents, no aunts/uncles, no help other than my youth. I wouldn't have wished that helplessness and stress on my worst enemy (well maybe) but the point is while it was worthwhile and I adore my kids, I wasn't able to enjoy them a lot of the time. It breaks my heart to think back on those days because it's time I'll never get back. Personally I can't feel sorry for any elitist when they complain about stress or the difficulty in parenting. While I disagree with some of your points of surrogacy, it really is meant to me more of a business thing, the surrogate, not mother, doesn’t have any actual right to the child. The same is true for sperm donors. Theyre just meant to carry the child and the “entitlement” to the child or being in the child’s life somehow is why I’m terrified of surrogacy. Kinda, there are two women involved in surrogacy, the egg donor and the surrogate. The egg donor donates her embryo and the embryo gets implanted into the surrogate. So the egg donor is technically the biological mother because it's her embryo but since the surrogate is the one that birthed the baby you could also argue the surrogate is the biological mother. In my eyes both the donor and surrogate are the mothers, but technically the egg donor is the real biological mother.

When I was younger, I was a HUGE Shane Dawson fan. This was at his like peak on youtube. I loved him, I thought he was so funny. If u understand medicine, it makes sense. The embryos are rated on their viability. Not all eggs/sperm/embryos are created equal. Some are very likely to survive implantation while some are unlikely to survive. Most ppl don’t want a million kids so usually the embryos that are most viable are selected for implantation. 🤷‍♀️ also most ppl don’t want to bring a baby into the world that is only going to have pain and suffering and then die 🤷‍♀️ (which some defects cause … and bc medicine is so advanced in first word countries, u can keep a human on life support to no end- which some cruel ppl try to do AMA when that child is never going to function and is essentially a dead body being kept alive via machines and knows nothing but pain and being drugged up)🤷‍♀️ there have been cases where hospitals and parents have fought over such cases bc the “parents” are selfish and cruel 🤷‍♀️

Modern medicine creates a host of ethical dilemmas that we do not have clear answers to, and parents are not really the best ones to resolve a dilemma like that. On the other hand, not letting the parents decide is an issue itself as well. Parents often have an unfounded hope with such babies, but while such hope is unfounded we cannot exactly guarantee that the situation would never improve either.

Thats how IVF works, this isn’t even a new thing its been going for decades. Really surprising to see how ignorant people are when it comes to these processes.
