The top dietitians in the United States have always had corrupt relationships with food corporations, so it's not surprising that this trend has continued into the "dietitians" of TikTok. Will we ever learn from our past?

If you only rank individual things like fiber content, the cereal looks better. This is an example of why we should always question statistics. Information can be cherry-picked to show a particular outcome.

As a Dietitian I can say that a majority of dietitians are incentivized to do and say what Big Food says. We’re also taught things like seed oils are healthy and animal products are unhealthy. MONSANTO is saving the world with GMOs. Alcohol is “heart” healthy. Which is ironic because the biochemistry and organic chemistry classes we take teach us the opposite of that only in a way that requires thought rather than just being told what to believe and say. You can lose your national registration if you give advice that goes against what they say. Not all dietitians are bad, mostly they are just brainwashed and/or scared to go against Big Food. National registries are a difficult topic because they do protect people by making sure that not just anyone can call themselves something (doctor, paramedic,dietitian) but at the same time it can and is use to control professionals by threatening them with losing their jobs. I could talk about this all day and I’m so glad to see you bring attention to this Brett.

Everybody keeps saying seed oils are the devil and then I ask for proof and HOW it's bad, like specifically what does it do in your body and how and why, that makes it bad and I never get an answer. I get regurgitated shit from one guy who had a financial incentive to demonize it, and other places that sold supplements. It's very reminiscent of 1990 when they went on a rampage against lard and tallow. I remember that and it's the same thing. I have yet to get a real, scientific, proven answer. So until then, I'll continue to use them. Also real sugar and HFCS isnt the devil either. Same goes for that and the only respectable answer I get is its harmful in large amounts (anything is) and diabeetus. But if youre not a diabetic or pre diabetic, you don't need to avoid it entirely.

It's a selling point and people who think it means anything outside of synthetic pesticides, is being taken for a financial ride. I know a girl who claims she's allergic to anything not organic. This is why I will never shame someone for being overweight/obese. I was born in the 70s and I CLEARLY remember the push toward replacing butter with margarine, lard with shortening, using canola oil and other seed oils, switching to low-fat or fat-free dairy, etc etc AS THE HEALTHIER OPTION. Our parents didn't know any better. We didn't know any better. Government agencies intentionally and systematically created an unhealthy society and now it is DAMN hard to get out of that mindset.

You make a valid point but people who are told these things and refuse to lose weight and change their lifestyle should still be shamed. Just because you eat seed oils doesn’t mean you’re automatically going to turn obese. I ate tons of seed oils as a kid and still occasionally have them (yes ik they’re bad) yet my weight and physique are great because I still workout and eat very clean inside the home. People are more incentivized and sensitive to obesity but that doesn’t mean it’s completely out of their control to stay healthy

By the way, Brett, the carcinogenic implications of aspartame are highly suspect. The way people do cancer risk is generally pretty associative. So it takes a LOT of association and studies that factor out other risk factors in order to determine carcinogenic properties. I don't know what risk factors were balanced out in the aspartame studies people have done, but, for example, people that drink diet soda are more likely to overweight. If you drink a lot of soda, it might be because you eat a lot of fast food. So saying aspartame is bad for you is possible, but not confirmed by the evidence.

One bit of advice I got was that there is no sugar substitute that’s actually healthier than sugar. Whether that’s directly because of the substance itself, or how much of that substance must be used to compare to the taste of sugar, it’s a general rule that sugar is your best option. Of course, some sugars are worse than others, and it’s obviously better to just avoid excess sugar as much as possible. However, aspartame is noteworthy in that it’s actually a safe sugar alternative for diabetics.
@owlblocksdavid4955
@owlblocksdavid4955 9 ай бұрын
@@DannyDevitoOffical-TrustMeBro I guess my point is, that while I don't know that those people are wrong, I'm suspicious of that claim. Honestly, anytime anyone talks about food and nutrition, I'm suspicious. Whenever someone tells me good news with regards to health, I'm skeptical, because there's generally more incentive to say that something you like (in this case sugar) isn't as bad as something you don't (artificial sweeteners, as most people agree diet soda doesn't taste as good). Now, there's also good news if you say that as artificial sweeteners are fine, because you can eat them and not get fat, so there's certainly incentive in both directions, so that's why I'm suspicious of both sides.

@@owlblocksdavid4955 So theres been multiple studies on both aspertame and sucralose being carsinagentic to mice in extreme amounts as in close to 1000 times the average serving found in diet soda. So I wouldnt say its healthy but as youve said theres no evidence that it has harmful effects on humans yet. If you have a problem with regularly drinking high calorie drink like soda it could be a good idea to switch to diet variation to aid in weight loss and reduce chance of diabetes, chd and other lifestyle diseases which are the leading causes of preventable deaths after smoking.

At least we should cultivate vegetables at home. We can get pots and seeds from Homedepot and various other places. Vegetables will be cheaper and fresh. Most products had variety earlier, and now all have disappeared. Cereals are okay, but why do we need so much sugar and chemicals in a box. Why can't customers decide on the amount of sugar they can eat later? I stopped sugar and started to lose weight. Bought a bread maker and tried a lot without sugar, adding different grains, etc. Buy a cereal grinder, get organic cereal, and make flour out of it. See the difference. Even try it with gluten-allergic people after making flour from grinding wheat yourself. Don't go with processed food. Cook yourself if you can, or utilise a slow cooker, and things will be done by you get back home.

I dream of one day having my own little farm (probably can't handle doing meat stuff, so I guess I will have to find a way to afford good ranchers), where I can control my dairy, fruits, eggs, and vegetables as much as possible. I want a husband who loves me and has the ability to take care of us financially (thank you economy), and I can homeschool my kids and give horse lessons for some extra income. I know it's just a dream, but sometimes it's fun to think about things like that, even when I know they probably can't really happen.

Less “toxic” chemicals are used in organic food production - yes, chemicals are still used, but they’re not neurotoxins. Also, one can TASTE the difference in organic produce. Leagues ahead of conventional and GMO produce. And, speaking of GMO, anything organic is NOT GMO. All of this to say- I grow and preserve as much of my own produce as possible to avoid this issue.

So many "experts" want healthy eating to seem incredibly complicated when it really isn't. Make whole foods your foundation and watch your portion sizes (including sauces, dressings, and things of that nature which can sneakily add a lot of calories). Keep junk to a minimum but don't guilt yourself to death over a treat here and there. That's....more or less all there is to it. Anybody who tells you that you MUST eat certain foods, or schedule your meals at specific times, or plan your macros in one way only is just lying.

I have been questioning this for years as a health teacher. The “plate” from obama’s wife took protein to very low levels and schools lost food too high in protein. The cafeteria manger was being told she can serve the Hot Dog bun, but not the Hot Dog because it had too much protein. Protein is so important for students to think and function clearly in a long school day.

a lot of times they tastes better since they have higher calories and less micronutrients. Nothing nescessarily wrong with them just try not to eat them exclusively. Some bio engeineered food is totally comparable to foods that are "natural" but most are "unhealthy" since they are highly palletable and don't contain what you need. like everything, moderation is key.

I agree with most of what Brett is saying here except for humans living healthily off of the land prior to industrialization. People back then had a life expectancy 30-40 years less than we do now. If we’re eating pure garbage and still living that much longer, I’m not sure that this food is as terrible as Brett is saying. Yes, added sugar should be avoided, but I’m not convinced processed food is actually that terrible for you solely because it’s “processed”. Watch your calorie intake, avoid severe carcinogens, get regular exercise, and you should be okay.

Well, having worked with one part of that industry, people involved from the growers to the producers up through the retailers appear to, at least on occasion, and at least some of them, lie, if it will suit the purposes better than the truth. So I trust actual farmers and ranchers with what they tell you straight from their mouths about what something has been given or grown with sooner than I trust any label on a store bought item. Granted, they can still lie, too. But there are plenty of occasions that they're growing "natural" "organic" stuff, they just aren't paying the government serious money to have the label applied to their produce. And because it's so expensive to get labeling for organic food, often, once a company has gotten the labeling, they do what it takes to keep the labeling, even if it means lying occasionally about whether the feed they provided for the turkeys was organic or not...

there is nothing inherently wrong with processed foods. Greek yogurt is highly processed, as well as whey isolates, both of which are good for you. Nightshade and hemlock are all natural plants, but they will kill you. There is also nothing wrong with fortification of food such as cerial grains and breads, it dates back to the mayans, who cooked tortilllas with lime in order to prevent scurvy due to lack of vitamin C (better than bleeding to death out of every hole in your body). Some processed foods are highly palletable so you eat a lot of them and do not have a good micronutrient profile, and are high in calories, as well as some perservatives that we don't have a lot of research on (not dangerous nescesarily, but safer than eating almonds every day). I do beg you all to understand that most foods you can buy are inherently good just because they are whole, and processed foods are bad. This is such a misunderstanding. Furthermore, chopping, cutting, cooking, baking, pickling, boiling, are all forms of processing. For example, raw steak is not usually good for you as it contains bacteria, a food better when it is processed. it all comes down to macro and micro nutrients. get enought protien, adequite calories, try not to overdo the fats, carbs, and sugars, and just eat foods that have sufficient micronutrients profiles or are fortified.

Hmm it's almost beginning to be you can't trust wealthy papered people. Also watch their vocabulary. You see pretty people on tik tok or instagram who can barely form a sentence trying to give you scientific information... yea no. I like the independent youtubers who do thorough experiments and reports. they show you their process so you're free to make your own conclusions. I recently watch a video about organic vs regular chicken. In the end it mainly came down to what is important to you. You pay more for texture, how the chicken was raised, and how much water is in the chicken. I think I'm fine saving money because the texture isn't too important to me and I think although you're paying for more water you still get more lb per $.

Ant have different metabolisms than humans. Plus aspartame in larger amounts or on a more regular basis can cause insulin resistance because it tricks the brain into thinking its sugar and releasing insulin that isn't needed. Insulin resistance, if built up enough, becomes type 2 diabetes. Basically aspartame overdone or used on a regular basis can become harmful but a little on a very rare occasion probably won't hurt you.

The healthiest diet possible, is natural foods, coupled with a diverse (Key word here) diet. Remember years ago they kept saying, 'have a diverse diet'. Well that is because fruit/veg/grains/meat/dairy all tackle different vitamins and minerals. There is no such thing as a one minimal food. Also don't let veganism fool you. You notice the steady increase in processed vegan foods? Yeah, not good for you.

Yep sounds about right. Also they defend GMOS with their entire being without any education on how agriculture works. I minored in Ag, and my professors would always tell us that organic farming was perfectly naturally able to sustain our country, HOWEVER it’s not in the USDA’s best interest to go organic or sustain better agriculture/farming practices like getting rid of farming monocultures, add more diversity to crops by pairing them with other crops that compliment each other in attracting the right insects to get rid of certain pests, rotate them, compost, give back what the soil used up in nutrients etc. the dietitians only focus on how GMOS (or better named genetically engineered organisms because we have always genetically modified crops) will not harm humans. But also, we don’t know that in the long run if it will affect our epigenetics in future generations
