I like to think it would have some sort of biological failsafe to avoid a dangerous outcome. Like how the firey manes of Ponyta and Rapidash won't burn people they trust meaning that if it trusts you, you can literally put your hand into its flames. I'd like to think that Lucario would have something similar like the spike would shrink/retract if it was being hugged by someone they trusted, especially seeing as the whole thing around evolving a Riolu into Lucario is through high enough friendship (if I recall).

Digimon is literally built on the super saiyan principle. IE, just keep transforming until you're broken enough.

@@haku8135 They don't "keep transforming" though. The main digimon only transform 2 or 3 times at most, and other Digimon only transform once or not at all. A lot of Pokemon transform twice, not a big difference at all. Digimon just have stronger feats.

Digimon without drawing on their partners reach their next level permanently. It's why Gatomon is a champion as a base whereas the other S1 digimon are only naturally rookies.

“Renamon must be really important if it’s going against Lucario.” Only in regards to the anime, though a Lucario was the partner Pokémon of Hiori, the protagonist of Phantom Thief Pokémon 7. Renamon is the partner to Makino Ruki (Rika Nonaka in the dub) in Digimon Tamers, one of the main characters and the female lead. Lucario in comparison isn’t that important except in one movie and the X and Y anime and the aforementioned Phantom Thief manga. I highly recommend watching Digimon Tamers as it’s the most psychological and dark season of the series. Trauma plays a big role in character development there. In fact the big bad uses the trauma of another character to power itself up and nearly defeat the Tamer cast.

Yeah, about that "who would sexualize a digimon" thing... there's actually a number of Digimon that look less like animals and more like people. Or in some case, angels, demons, or other types of gods or mythical figures that resemble attractive men and women, and this becomes much more common once you get to higher levels. In fact, Renamon's final form looks like a human woman in golden armor wearing a fox mask, she doesn't even have fur or a tail anymore. I know it sounds creepy and it kinda is, but remember that Digimon only RESEMBLE animals sometimes, but are actually just as intelligent as humans with only a few of exceptions when it comes to the really savage or monstrous ones, like Kuwagamon, which is a three story tall beetle monster that the characters have to beat in the very first episode.

In fact, I didn't even realize that anybody considered it "sexy" until I accidentally stumbled across some rule 34 of it while searching for it's evolutionary method when I wanted to train a Buneary years ago. So yeah, it true that there are Pokémon that can be sexualized by people like furries that normies would never look at that way. But then there are Digimon that are literally just women with big breasts in revealing clothes that still have completely human body proportions, and NO ONE can see them without knowing that they're meant to be seen that way. It's a pretty big difference since there are Pokemon that are only loosely based off of attractive women, but then there are Digimon that literally are just attractive women.

I want to say one of the Pokedex entries even implied these pheromones working "cross species" with a possible implication to effect humans as well. So yea, Nintendo quite literally made a rather curvy and suggestive human-sized lizard that is all female that makes a reverse harem of any male they can to tend to their needs. They knew exactly what they were doing with that one. XD

I think the outcome of this Death Battle could have been either Lucario or Renamon. Both of them had comparable durability, while one had the edge in strenght and the other the edge in speed. If this Battle allowed for evolutions, then obviously Renamon would win by a wide margin, as the power ceiling for Digimon on average is much higher than that of Pokemon. But just these two put against eachother, i think it could go either way. Although i understand their arguments for Lucario, i think they also low-balled Renamon a little bit. Regardless, not the best and not the worst Death Battle, i can agree with the outcome but i also think there is enough reasons to disagree.

Plus note that they needed a fully evolved pokemon to beat a digimon who is at the child level and not even at their fullest potential

Note that Renamon's a Rookie level, which in the Japanese version is "Child". Renamon was basically one step above baby (the same level as Agumon without any evolutions) and fighting one of the higher tier Pokemon. On average, most Pokemon lose to most Digimon, but if you pit a low tier Digimon against a high tier Pokemon, that's how they gave team Pokemon a chance here XD

This was a fun one, but Renamon in the battle is voiced by Marissa Lenti. Upon researching, she actually does a lot of additional voices in anime, but you've actually heard her Cloud's mom (actual mom) in Final Fantasy 7 Machinabridged, and....*sigh* The shamoshians in the Broly Abridged movie. Y'know..."Harder, Dah-Di." I will say, again, if there's any of the Digimon series worth watching, it's Tamers, aka Season 3, aka the one with Renamon.

Lucario is probably the most popular non legendary Pokémon. Renamon confused me as a kid : I thought she was on adult level, becouse of her hight. Before all rookie levels were smaller than the children. Lucario won, becouse it is fully evolved. Renamon wasn't allowed to digivolve. Had they gone all the way to ultimate, Lucario would be toast!

Generally spoking, Digimon are just more powerful than Pokemon by default. Sakuyamon fought against the D-Reaper, a creature powerful enough to consume a city and threating the whole planet. Lucario would be a like a Lv 5 Pichu stand against a lv 100 Dragonite Beside, we all know the real reason for the fight, the furry fandom rivalry.

But Lucario is one of my favorite Pokemon so I'm still happy with the end results. The digimon are not limited to how many moves they can used, while pokemon are limited to 4 at any given time. So Lucario's "wider and more diverse" arsenal would not work.

Like why bring up renemon's abilities if they won't be used? Also something people tend to forget about digimon is that they don't need a tamer to digivolve. Think about how many champions, ultimates, and mega's are just out there. Not to mention they had to become a in training 2 before they even met their partners. So yeah, the only form Renemon shouldn't have taken is her mega form as that actually requires a biomerge with Rika. Beyond that, Digimon have a fluxuating digivolution line, meaning, dispite what the show says for simplicity, augumon doesn't always become greymon. After all he went skullgrymon first and then metalgreymon the next time, so technically even the show, shows this off. The point is, if Renamon can't biomerge then she should have a different Mega that can be used in it's place. A great conterner would be Saber leomon. Giving into her beastly instincts and ready to ruble. You can argue that she's not a cat, but a fox, and I'd argue that Gatomon is a cat and not an angel like Agewomon, and not a dog like Salomon, but there you have it. Fact is, they severely under did this, also stating that renemon could disappear and move faster than 9k mph, meaning she matches lucario's speed yet they made her slower for the fight.... this is the problem with DB they always show bias and that should never happen.

This isn't Rika's Renamon, just "A Renamon". Cyber Sleuth featured a Sakuyamon (no human partner) in one mission, and Ghost Game featured a Kuzuhamon (both forms) as well.

@@RippahRooJizah yes but in the games and anime even, season four specifically, you see guilmon and gallantmon, but we know that Takato created Guilmon, there was only one, so the games showing multiple guilmon wasn't a good bases for there being more than one. I bring up season 4 because Gallentmon became a royal knight, Takato and Guilmon could have easily been in the digital world and the fact that only one is seen kinda alludes to that. The fact is that the games, like cyber sluthe couldn't have biomerge because that evolution didnt make sense in the game's story. Same thing goes for ghost game, and rumble arena, etc... the cannon is that each digimon has their own digvolutions based on their nature. That's why some tentomon become kabuterimon and others become kuwagamon. The tamer's share their nature with their partners making them one unit, this is why Agumon became skullgreymon at first and metalgreymon later when tai's personalluty changed from arrogant and desperate to true courage. Renamon here, should have had other forms, digimon evolve based on a need to survive or to protect. Kiyubiimon was not outside of reach and neither was Taomon, mega forms could have been anything really as we don't know other forms that Taomon can become outside of what the games show us, and what the anime showed us. Those things tend to change from continuity to continuity. Besides, even if she stayed as a renamon, points were brought up about Renamon's abilities that were never used, like making copies that could confuse Lucario for instance. My point is, if someone takes time to mention a skill that is vital to the battle, at least show it off. For instance, take charizard vs agumon. If they mentioned that wargreymon could use attacks like terraforce and great tornado, and was extremely strong against dragons, which mega charizard x is a dragon type, but then just killed him as an agumon, you'd feel cheated. Had renemon used her skill to confuse lucario and then hit him when his gaurd was down, a legit tactic used by weaker opponants to gain the upperhand, something Renemon would absolutely do, then how would things have been different? We won't know because dispite telling us about this skill, we never saw it.

Your upgraded card being too fast for something to keep up when live. I recommend playing Pokkén Tournament DX on Switch. It is literally a Tekken Pokemon game with smooth animations and very high quality models that I wished the main series used. And yes, it has Lucario in it. It also has a new form exclusive to that game for Mewtwo, "Shadow Mewtwo". It's just cool, man.

I do not like this battle. Deathbattle is supposed to be 2 combatants at their best, but in this battle they limited them to a fixed form. Also, until mega evolution came around, Lucario was pretty much at its peak, while Renamon had several much more powerful forms under her belt. If they went all out, Mega Lucario would not stand a chance against Taomon, aka Renamon's final form. Even as they are, I think Renamon would take the win, her speed alone should put her above Lucario. P.S. I am pretty certain they had Lucario use more than 4 moves.

I kinda disagree with this in a way. Somehow the ice busting is more amazing then the tons of digimon she defeats made of stuff similar to steal. They did use a wild renamon and not the renamon we see in the show so i get it but they used feats from the show. Renamon can beat champion digimon as a rookie... which is terribly hard to do knowing the growth scale of digimon. I'm pretty sure beating any of them destroys ice wall feat. I don't know who would win in general but they kinda use random feats and compare instead of the most impressive feats.

So this showcases the difference between Digimon and pokemon, Digimon power scales ridiculous between digevolutions, a Rookie digimon is playing in the same powerset of pokemon and pokemon have a chance but if you give them trainers nearly all Digimon are going to win they just are not on the same playing level

This is more about Pokémon’s most popular furry VS Digimon’s most popular furry. It’s unfair because Renamon is in her base form and Lucario is fully evolved. If they let them fight at their full potential then it’d be a repeat of Charizard VS Agumon which would be unfair for Lucario. A quick little fun fact about Lucario: In Smash Bros., they have a gimmick where their attacks and moves become more powerful the more damage they’ve taken. Even if it wasn’t part of the research for Death Battle, that scene where Lucario powers through the second Diamond Storm like a raging barbarian reminds me about that Smash Bros thing a lot. Renamon is a weird digimon. She is a top tier rookie level digimon and can even take on some champion level digimon (one stage higher). However, there is a problem: Renamon is still a rookie level which limits her potential. Her evolution Kyubimon is stronger for obvious reasons, but surprisingly enough she is not as strong as you might think. Kyubimon have never displayed a special feat compared to other champion level digimon and seems to have the same strengths and limitations other champion levels have. High tier and stronger than Renamon, but nothing special. In a way, you can say there is a chance Renamon can beat her own evolution in a fight. Unlikely, but that chance exists.

Uhm no, Kyubimon is still significantly stronger and has also more range than Renamon(Lucario would simply get stomped, which is exactly why they nerfed Renamon so hard to begin with), the only reason it looks unimpressive is that it's "just" a High Tier Champion while Renamon, Taomon(which has freaking Mega+ lvl defenses for example) and Sakuyamon are all straight up Top Tiers for their respective lvls.

@@gunchar06 The point I was trying to make is that Kyubimon never impressed me when compared to other champion digimon. Watching the anime I can't remember a single time Kyubimon did something impressive to her level, but Renamon did many times. So my logic is if Renamon constantly breaks her limits while Kyubimon isn't, then what prevents Renamon to eventually beat Kyubimon? Renamon doesn't stomp Kyubimon, that much is obvious, but with enough training and strategy I can't see why Renamon can't beat Kyubimon at least with 1:30 - 1:50 ratio. Taomon and Sakuyamon are simply broken, it's not even a question and why I didn't bother mentioning them.

@@FrostedMike I think your memories play a trick on you there, Kyubimon has easily beaten Digimon who bullied Renamon right beforehand on more than one occasion, has casually one-shotted Champion lvl Digimon on more than one occasion, has hurt Perfect lvl Digimon on more than one occasion and even affected/somewhat hurt a Mega lvl Digimon, it's well beyond average Champion lvl, but it showed that less frequently + appeared in general quite rarely(especially in comparison to Renamon), and simply lacks the broken hax/looks very tame in comparison to Taomon and Sakuyamon.

I love my namesake, but no he's really not that impressive as a Pokemon. His popularity mainly comes from the coolness of his design and the 8th Pokemon movie and the anime series, which carried over to a few movie related Easter eggs in the gen 4 games. I think this one actually makes a lot of sense with the outcome. While both Lucario and Renamon have pretty decent offensive capabilities, Renamon is mostly a glass cannon. Yea, Renamon can take a few good hits, but not a lot in a drawn out fight. And while Lucario can also be seen as something of a glass cannon, preferring to quickly overpower their opponents as opposed to having a long drawn out fight, Lucario do have a bit more going in the way of defenses. While both exceed in the "quickly overpower the opponent" fighting style, Lucario edges out a little more with being a bit more defensive and would be most likely to hold out longer should a fight start to drag out a little.
