ChoccyMonster16 Google "10 pound chocolate block." Candy makers buy them. If there's a store in your area that sells bulk food and has big hunks of chocolate for sale, they get those hunks by breaking up 10-pound chocolate blocks...and they're more than happy to sell you a whole one.
@Crocodileflower9 жыл бұрын
Jim Mowreader where do you get them?
@jmowreader9 жыл бұрын
isla budd I get mine - I generally buy two a year to make Christmas presents from, but sometimes I need three, at a supermarket called Winco Foods. If you have one in your area, go there. Otherwise, choclatique.com, candywarehouse.com, and sweetfactory.com have them. There are two kinds of companies selling these. The first treats them as some sort of a super gag gift..."What do you get for a man who has everything and loves chocolate? Why, a ten-pound candy bar!" The other sells them to people who plan to melt them and make smaller candies out of the chocolate. You want to buy from the second kind of company because the chocolate is of much higher quality and the prices are lower - and to be sure you're shopping in the right place, the companies you want to buy from call these "chocolate slabs."
@jmowreader9 жыл бұрын
isla budd Oh yeah, I better tell you in advance: they cost between $60 and $120 apiece, depending on the quality of the chocolate you want and the store you buy it from. One of really nice quality will run you about $65 to $70.

I wonder why they dont put chocolate in a long tube, cool it, and cut with wire-cutter. That would save a bunch of excess chocolate that needs to be remelted.
@68172610 жыл бұрын
melting chocolate is easier than melting plastic tubing. Also I think the chocolate will set more evenly if it was layered out.

@jmowreader9 жыл бұрын
Súp Heo You only get the nice gloss on the surface of chocolate if it solidifies in the final shape you want it to be. If you have some chocolate in the house, get it and cut it with a knife. The cut edge will look pretty rough.
@shtechvn9 жыл бұрын
Jim Mowreader Yeah, your fact is true, but what about after cutting the chocolate into round shape, we press it with a two-sides hot press which gives the coins not only their texture and also the glossy surface after they are cooled.
@jmowreader95558 жыл бұрын
+SHTV Maybe...but since chocolate has to be melted to be worked anyway, instead of making the long tube then cutting it and forming the final shape, it's more efficient just to pour it in a coin-shaped mold.

@DropsTheMike9 жыл бұрын
Jim Mowreader 1. The rest of the chocolate gets goes to get reprocessed but the crumbs while could be added later weren't specifically being added back. So unless someone who works there genuinely thinks that an accumulation of half of a chocolate coin that sat there all day or whenever the machines are cleaned is worth it. then alright. and 2. Its a joke.

It depends on which manufacture you are buying from. The big commercial ones like Palmer and others use oil as a main ingredient, that's why they taste like ass. However, if you buy from a REAL chocolatier, like Lindt or an organic company, then you will be hooked as chocolate made by these companies are made with real chocolate, cream, etc.... and taste phenomenal!!!
