Building a tube kite from scratch.
So here we show you how to make a kite from the beginning till the end.
This was the Harlem Go v5 model that I made and it turned out great!
Thanks to
Jeroen, Stef and Alex for helping out on this project

Thanks for the video, very impressive! It's actually one of the first videos I have seen that shows how a kite is created from scratch😮

This is also one of the hardest thing to show because the factories are having there secrets that they dont want to share. So we had to make it our self

@@KaroroCadImpressive stuff that's so cool because you video's are the process before this all! I advise to start off your first DYI kite with an existing model because then you can see if you did it correctly but it's not so easy to get your hand on a product file of a product kite.

I was super inefficient and we calculated it was around 400 hours of work but also a lot of the time is picking up the project and remembering where you stoped as we did this in the low moments so some times we did not work on it for hours

I just warched whole video. What materials did you use. What program did you use to calculqte shape of kite. Why you made a lot of smal pieces, I would go bigger. How is kite on water is it good? Where to buy materials? What type of ripstop did u use 4x4 or something else? I am planing to build kite for 4 years this will help me a lot. As far as I can see most important thing here is sewing. I would go all white with blue details

Very nice and interesting video! Why do you brummel lock the splices and not just splice and stitch them? Would be easier to get exactly the same length and takes less time doesn't it?
@victorlooijestijn5757
@victorlooijestijn5757 Ай бұрын
100% true for the bridles this would work but for kite lines not in my opinion and if you repeat the same process it's super easy to get the same length in my opinion and it will never break open or wear that's why I trust this more :)

Ahhhh sweet video now i see a easier way to repair full kite is to roll up all the fabric 😅 before trying to jam the whole kite between little gap betwèen the needle and rest of the machine

I was not super efficiënt as the factory so I worked 400 hours on it. But the factory is doing exact the same as indeed here only on a more efficient way.

@covakoma1064

You can use rrgular cnc with knife that is folowing path you can even 3d print that knife. If you dont have that too, you need some space. Plot parts on big papers A0 or bigger. Then stancil that shape on ripstop, than cut it with sicors or blade knife slowly and precisly. After that you have to sew whole kite and I think that is most difficult thing. You can do it with hand but it will take you a lot of time. Old Singer machine that do zig zag saw is good. Anyway dont listen to me I am just planing my way to do custom kite 😂
@cyberanswer
@cyberanswer Ай бұрын
@@covakoma1064 That's interesting. And I learnt the paper size A0 and 4A0. I'm good at sewing v69 but i don't have a professional machine to sew v92. How do you get around that part? I guess you know to use Seamstick? Best of luck making your kite :) Thanks for the reply.
@covakoma1064
@covakoma1064 Ай бұрын
@@cyberanswer Well i dont know how to go around that, use hands every night for a month or two let it be your stress relief hobby 🙂 or just buy old singer machine that can do that. I dont have experience with that tape. Best for you is to look at your fabric kite f1 or cabrinha or some other brand and see small details. Wish you all the best
@cyberanswer
@cyberanswer Ай бұрын
@@covakoma1064 An old Singer can sew v92? Are you sure one can sew this heavy weighted thread? And they have a zigzag pattern? I have an old Singer (as well) but with just a straight stitch. I haven't tried v92. I was told my home machine won't sew v69. Actually it works but not v30! Seamstick - ok so you don't know this tip. It is used by manufacturers to stick the pieces together. You then sew over top of the tape. I think they use 8mm or 10mm. Measure your kite panel joins and you'll know.

Just curious, How much you spent in materials to build the 9m kite.
@victorlooijestijn5757
@victorlooijestijn5757 Ай бұрын
This is hard to calculate as that we have quite some roles of material laying at the HQ of Harlem. But you need at least the bladder set of 150/200 euro's or you need super big sealing machines. then you need for a 9m around 9m of dacron for the LE and stuts and around 10m of canopy if you can cut efficiently. So you can do the math Oh and not forget labor we calculated 400H x 40 euro's making this kite a cost price of 16000+ euros 🤐 So if there is someone that would like to buy it we can sell it for the cost price 🤣 Bidding start from 16k 🤣
