Seattle Seahawks5668 Seattle should’ve been doing this for years they are terrible at 1st round picks and the Jets I mean even people who don’t watch football know how bad they are as a franchise. Who in the next few drafts are better than a 24 year old do it all safety that can eliminate the opposite teams best target.
@SeattleSeahawks-to3lc4 жыл бұрын
@@marcusdow5356 We did it with Percy Harvin and Jimmy Graham only problem was they weren't fits and were stupid moves to be honest. Also moving back and taking Malik Mcdowell who got hurt in the offseason to never play again. But I agree and wished we would of picked up better fits. Jamal is perfect for Seattle and Pete Carroll has always loved him also FS/SS is the 2nd most important position in Petes defense which people seem to forget or ignore. Having a legit secondary can mask your defensive line and give them more time for pressure and sacks I won't be shocked if our D line looks better even if we don't make any moves which I think we will. Lastly, I would assume these will be back end 1st round picks if we were constantly picking in the top 15 I may not agree with how much we gave up and Mcdougald has a bum knee and doesn't have much longer in the league. Sorry for the long response.

Eric Dawson I really don’t think so. In run blocking and pass protection, Kittle most likely has Jamal beat. In coverage, I think it’s a good match up but Adams locks Kittle down to minimal gains and will definitely hit hard and make him work for every yard. It can’t ever be that one sided. It’s definitely really even with only 1 or 2 plays deciding who wins their match up on any given day. Should be a great match up in the division for years to come.

Adams was the #5 pick when he was drafted if I recall. If you use the draft value trade chart as a base line, then the Hawks "paid" the equivalent of a late 2nd round pick for him. The #5 pick is worth 490 points. They gave up two first round picks, and so long as they make the playoffs (worst case #6 seed) both years, that is the 21st pick or lower. The #21 pick is worth 260 points. Two of those is 520 points. The third round pick was worth about 50 points for a total sum of 570 points. That is a difference of about 80 points. What pick is worth 80 points? The last pick in the 2nd round or first pick in the third round. That is what Seattle paid, in terms of value, beyond a fair and even trade to aquire a proven play maker. I would take that trade all day any day and wish that my favorite team the 49ers had done that. If Seattle does better than go to the wildcard and lose and get the 21st pick, then they got even better value in that deal. For example, if they make the divisional or conference championship, then it was a steal. Obviously if they win the super bowl it would be an amazing trade. Who wouldn't trade those picks for a super bowl ring? The only way Seattle loses on this deal is if he gets hurt and they lose a bunch of games... Which is true of any player in any deal, so who cares? This is almost all win for Seattle.

EDIT: being picked #6 makes the deal even better on paper EDIT: To those who are confused, you use top draft picks to build a franchise around. Even though this is not the same as trading picks for picks, can you disagree that Adams is WORTH the equivalent of a top 5 draft pick in terms of trade value? If so, then you can still argue that the right price was paid. Final edit: It turns out Dallas and the 49ers were also in a bidding war with Seattle for Adams and the final two were SF vs Seattle. The Hawks paid to not only secure Adams, but to also keep him out of SF.

Few things: Firstly i like how youre trying to be reasonable and unbiased. Its rare to see. Adams was the 6th pick. I dont know how many points thats worth. But the jets have used up 3 years of his rookie contract. This means that it isnt the same value as the 6th pick in the upcoming draft. Because you dont get to keep the player for 5 years. The seahawks also sent bradley mcdougald. A starting calibre safety (obviously nowhere near the level of adams). The jets also sent a 4th rd pick. Theres also the money side. Adams was looking for 20 million a year. Wilson is already on a massive contract and the salary cap is likely going to come down. The seahawks still have pretty big problems in the trenches and will have no picks or cap space to fix it. Personally i think it was a desperate move from them
@PaulGaither4 жыл бұрын
@@No-cw1ps - Thanks for the correction on the pick, 6th not 5th. Thanks for telling me about the 4th round pick, as that was not in the article/posting I read in the morning. I also know it is not a 100% fair conversion, as you are not swapping pick. I am just trying to give a bit of perspective. The point being that Adams is WORTH a top 5 pick, or in the case the #6 selection. Teams do put point values on picks, but you cannot really do that for players. That is an unknown quantity, or at least I have seen seen a value chart for such a thing. I also respect your opinion on the matter, even though I disagree. Offensive and Defensive line play is a combination of talent scouting, coaching, and scheme. I play and coach offensive line with amateur adults, and while it isn't the same as the NFL, in the process of doing so I have attended clinic and been sent videos of clinics by NFL line coaches and they all tell you the same things in different words: The talent disparity in the NFL is so slim. Sure, there is an elite monster here and there, but most of the guys are on a relatively even level. If your team is good or bad on either side of the ball, it comes down more to who you have coaching that group and how well they work together more than who has top draft picks starting for you.
@Seattle8084 жыл бұрын
No. 10 I’m sorry but you made 0 sense breaking down your first point, he’s turned into an all pro, potentially HOF caliber player in three years and you’re saying he’s worth less than he was as a rookie unknown #6 overall pick than he is now with his 2 pro bowls and 1 all pro on his rookie deal still 🤣🤣🤣 I doubt anyone in the NFL will hit on any Covid19 draft picks the next couple years, there might not even be college football 🤷🏻♂️ you seem desperate to jump to conclusions on a HOF caliber safety that now plays for a playoff caliber team. McDougald was great, in fact one of my favorite players on the hawks, but he missed a ton of open field tackles (14) and was getting older and slower with age (30) plus he was making more money this year than Adams, we save 500k now. The super late 3rd round pick they get and early 4th rounder they give us wipe each other out. To me it’s crazy to act like two covid19 era draft picks will ever amount to anything.

In that clip about driving on out breaking routes against the Browns: If Adams tries to jump those, can't the QB just pump fake him and then throw a bomb over the top on a jerk route? It is better the give up that route and make the tackle than to give up a wide open TD down the sideline. You also have to trust your underneath help to do their job. Adams was the deep man and shouldn't be undercutting routes. A whiff also leads to a Vikings vs Saints Dogg's TD situation.

The only thing you can't do with him consistently is put him on X an Y receivers in man coverage, you can zone him up anywhere though. Jamal is the best box safety in the league and a top 10 cover safety, you can't teach instincts like what the man shows. He is also a huge diva - I think it's pretty telling for such a "vocal leader" to not have really anyone from the Jets say anything about his departure outside of press conferences. No one saying goodbye on twitter or anything like that, the most he got was a beef with Bell. So as long as the Hawks keep winning, he'll be happy but if they underperfom he'll be whining his way off another team in the next 3-5 years.

Jamal is a hell of a player. But being realistic as a jet fan, he should've never been a jet to begin with. Goes to show you how terrible they are at addressing their needs. Although he's amazing, this is a perfect scenario of the Jets needing to trade down and get more depth instead of one guy who isn't going to single handedly grant you wins just like the way they drafted Darnold.

Let us remember what trading for a certain SAFETY did for the Steelers defense last year. Absolutely, undoubtedly Minkah Fitzpatrick came in and transformed that defense and that elevation was largely responsible for the Steelers staying COMPETITIVE with an offense that was T R A S H. I see no reason to doubt Adams giving us a opportunity to have at WORST an above average defense. He could be the piece that was needed to push us over the edge. Boy is special.

This was a great move by Seattle, Adams isnt as elite at taking the ball away like Thomas, but Adam's is great at making plays everywhere, Seattle IMO is still missing 2 pieces, another solid CB, and a solid pash rusher, not stars, but some solid starters who can make plays, but if Metcalf and continue on his trajectory, and Pete let Wilson do his thing, this team can definitely win another super bowl, Pete is really standing in the way on offense

The Seahawks defensive front suffered when Cam, and Thomas left. When they left Opposing QBs could throw quick releases when pressured, now those quick releases won't be as easy, giving the front more time for sacks.

Does anyone remember when sea blitzed safeties as much as Williams? I’m not trying to be negative, the tape from NY just looks much different than what the hawks do. I’m starting to think they move him to nickle or lb in nickle and that’s when Blair comes in.

The Seahawks are also sowing a little bit of chaos into the AFC by giving the Jets more 1st round picks. The Jets aren't going to be Super Bowl contenders any time soon, but it might be enough to shake up the balance of power over the next few seasons.

I don't have any concerns about Adams' skill set or potential to grow even further, but I can't help but feel like Ken Norton won't know how to get the best out of him. He's a fantastic position coach, after all, he developed Bobby Wagner and KJ Wright, did great with Bruce Irvin and David Hawthorne, but at a scheme and play calling level, he seems to struggle immensely. Lack of talent can only used as so much of an excuse, especially considering how much draft capital the Seahawks have put into the defense over the last few years, plus having Jadeveon Clowney last year.

A big reason why we lost to the Falcons a few years back in the playoffs was because we Earl Thomas was out with injury. Safeties make a big difference.

Great thorough video Sam. Ultimately I think Seahawks lost unless they can get a favorable contract from Adams. With his personality, I don't see that happening. Breaking the bank for a safety won't make your team better, it will make you worst. Seahawks just gave him an open check because of their tremendous Jets draft compensation

Seattle added speed and smarts to it's secondary. Since Kam went away the crossing routes and run game have giving up too much ground in 2019.

The thing is people don’t understand is that they say the jets won the trade but like from a Seahawks fan from the beginning we r GARBAGE at first round picks or either we just keep trading down the only good picks we’ve had in the first round was earl thomas an penny im probably missing some but we’re talking about ending up being elite or good
