I once heard the great Bruce Lee asked about his fighting style. Lee paused for a moment then said, I flow like water, take whatever the opponent gives me. I feel Jokic is exactly the same, never trying to force a post up to work, its too busy he finds a cutter or a 3 man and hits them with pinpoint perfection, like a Bruce Lee strike. This is why he just can't be defended, like water rushing down a mountain, Jokic takes the easiest route with lightning quick moves.

Best player yes, face of the NBA ? I don’t think he’ll ever be, just like Tim Duncan who was better than Kobe statistically, who won 1 more MVP, 1 more FMVP, and was the best player of his team in the 5 Playoffs run in wich he won the title, even if it was close between him and Tony Parker in 2007, and close between him and Kawhi in 2014, Duncan was still the most impactful and important player of thatteam, he was also the leader of that team … But Duncan was quite, not a trash talker, not super charismatic and his game was boring especially after 2005, so he was the opposite of Kobe, the tough shot maker with impeccable footwork, with the killer instinct, the « Clutch gene » and the famous « Mamba mentality », and Kobe was « only » 6’6, just like MJ, so more reliable for us the average joe’s, and he was super charismatic and good looking, just like MJ, and he also had a cool name, Kobe, like the Japanese city, and he played for the biggest market/most famous Basketball club in the world … So in short Kobe was by far the most marketable player of the 2000’s with Iverson, Shaq and then Lebron, and that’s why he was the face of the NBA. And Jokic i think is even worse than Duncan, 1st he isn’t American and doesn’t speak English very well, 2nd he doesn’t even have social media wich is one of the most important thing for a superstar, and 3rd, just like Duncan his game doesn’t entertain the casuals, even if he can make some of the craziest passes and make tough shots when he has no other choice, but his game is 90% floaters, hook shots, push shots, and he has elite footwork but he just isn’t smooth with it like Hakeem or Embiid, and he is also a 7ft guy who look out of shape compared to other players, and when kids watch the NBA, they want to see the MJ, Lebron, Shaq, Westbrook, Ja Morant, Zion, Dwight, ANT ect, they want to see the closest thing to a super hero … So Jokic will never be the face of the NBA, it will be someone like ANT, SGA, Ja or Zion (If they stop doing dumb shi), or Tatum and Booker if they keep improving because they are supposed to already be at the beginning of their prime and they are still far from the Joker and the Freak, or maybe it’s Wembanyama, because the kid is 19 and can already speak English and express himself better than some 30 yo American players lol, he is also a 7’5 demi god who can hezi tween splash like KD, catch lobs like AD, dunk in transition like Giannis and Block shots like a prime Hakeem with Mark Eaton height, so he is super entertaining and he has that charisma, that aura about him just like the previous faces of the league+ he is biracial so white and black people can identify themselves with him … So right now we are in a transition state, just like in the early and mid 2000’s, MJ was old and washed (And even tough Lebron is still a Top 10 player i except him to fall out of the Top 10 after this season), Shaq and Duncan were by far the best player in the world between 2000 and 2003, similar to Giannis and Jokic right now, and even tough they almost reached the level of prime MJ (Especially Shaq), they only maintained this level for like 3-5 years max and i expect the same thing from Giannis and Jokic, they also reached a level close to prime Lebron (Especially Jokic), but im not sure he is the type of guy to train hard like he did for another decade or just for another 3, 4 or 5 years, because despite what people think, Jokic is in a better shape than guys like Dwight, AD, Ayton or JJJ who looks like superman, this season he was in the Top 10 in most distance covered, and he is the only Big in this list, he was even ahead of Steph Curry and you can even find a video of Ayton saying something like « I don’t care how he look, this guy can run », and i watched some documentary about Jokic and believe me he work just as hard as any other players, some people are just built different, in fact we are all built different and Jokic is like KD, Bird, Paul Pierce or Austin Reaves, these guy can work just as hard and eat just as well as guys like Lebron, Dwight or Kawhi, but they will never be as muscular, Dwight is in Taiwan chilling and he still has the most impressive body imo, and he is 37 … So just like in the mid 2000’s, the next GOAT is probably a kid who will come into the league 20 years after Lebron in 2003, so maybe it’s Wemby, or maybe he is already in the league, but i don’t think Giannis, Jokic or Embiid will have a case for GOAT at the end of their career, they started to slow, and i don’t see them winning even just 3 Titles the league is so stacked right now. And Doncic for me is like Harden, or Lebron but without the ability to play off ball, catch lobs, make cut to the rim, run faster than everyone in transition and score an alley oop, make screen and roll to the rim, and of course without his DPOY level defense and all of that is very important to play with other stars and win Titles, Luka is one of the best floor raiser ever, he can carry a team of average 3 and D wing to the Playoffs and put up monster stats, but i don’t know if he can fit with other stars as well as Lebron or guys like Curry, KD, Kawhi, Jokic or Giannis. So we’ll see, but i don’t think we will know who is the next GOAT before 2030, except if the Joker or the Freak win 3 other titles, 2 other MVP and keep the level that theey are on since 2019-2020.

Great breakdown! Jokic is truly amazing. One analogy I heard that I liked is he plays basketball like someone who has mastered a video game. When you become an expert at a game, you are able to instinctively react, pressing buttons without even thinking, and just play the game smoothly even though it may be complex. His brain processing all the possibilities is just amazing, and I don't know how the league is going to deal with him over this next decade. Maybe we will see a shift away from small ball

Great breakdown! Every other Jokic vid I’ve seen so far focuses on MSM bad takes, a few highlights and/or statistics. (Still interesting in different ways.) Here I learned how this functions as an actual team vs a “star” team. Not sure how else to describe the difference. I now see the Jokic problem, causing an open 3 or allowing teams to be cut to bits and likely posterized by Gordon. The way they developed this system, players for it, recovered from injuries the Nuggets could still grow. That is until Jokic retires out of boredom to follow his childhood dream, join amateur jockey league and then return for a few more years.

big men passers are unicorns in basketball because they add the "secret page" to the playbook: they create space and passes from positions that are usually inaccessible to guards. THe result is simple, linear and extremely beautiful basketball based on feet positioning and cutting and passing instead of dribbles. Seeing Denver succeding was refreshing and i strongly believe they'll improve a lot in the next couple of years since Jokic's team mates will learn more and more how to move while playing with him (and he'll learn their habits and preferences): they will be a gem to watch. Congratulations for the analysis, great work, subbed after 2min, can't wait for new videos :)

I look at the scratches and the bruises at the end of the game and you know that Jokic is in there battling. He’s very even tempered and calm and overlooks, literally everything. He’s unselfish and anticipates the game, real time. He’s such a pleasure to watch. I think the Eurostyle of play is gradually infiltrating the NBA and it’s changing the game for the better. I’d like to see the NBA adopt hockey assists. It pushes everyone to play more TEAM and less iso.

Another part of Jokic's basketball IQ is his game management. HIs pass first focus for most of the game conserves energy for times when he needs to score. You see him take more shots in the 4th quarter and other key moments. Passing takes a lot less effort so he has energy reserved times when he needs to make moves in the paint

They are both savant brains, both are exceptionally strong,even though they don't look it,Messi suffered from dwarfisam needed injections pre puberty just to get to 5ft3,4 and Jokic was a fat kid,sugar addict,who grew in a single spurt,after getting to play a point, his whole life! They both see plays before they happen and enjoy setting up teammates, instead of scoring! @HoopsIQ it's hard to imagine that the two are so similar, considering the different sports and one is a giant and genius and the other is short,yet genius! They both are extremely strong and can't be pushed around! People talk about everything Messi, except his physical strength! He doesn't fall,even when they are pulling and pushing him trying to get a stoppage, but Messi is so fkn strong that I watched 3 fallbacks trying to foul him and instead of falling and getting penalties, he dragged them like children and scored properly! Jokic is the most fouled player that doesn't get calls, they push him scratch his arms,yet he continues either scoring or passing! Both are playing their own pace and look to make the team better instead of playing for themselves! Nikola took from Messi the saying, Assists make two people happy, scoring only one! Messi wasn't considered fast,until he raced Neymar and edge him out! He's not as fast at 36,but fast enough! Joker knows that the ball is faster than any player so he passes full court and gives dimes that leave opponents dumbfounded! Ronaldo is more athletic looking than Messi, but Messi doesn't fall,or fake!

1 reason why is he doing so good is becasue small ball,he would have much worse stats if hes playing in 90s like traditional center and not like pg+they had good centers than and they play defense lol,imagine if he need to guard prime shaq lol or if robinson or hakeem guarding him
@HoopsIQ

I’m not sure if that’s true. He would still pass very effectively. I’m not sure how the era would affect him. He can shoot from deep, pass and drive.. what’s the difference?

@@HoopsIQ he would not play like pg in that era with 80% of time with ball in his hands and he would not shot from outside that much ,so he would avg less assists and points

He would play better than now, that era is better for Jokic than current. Because centers dont go outside 3points, and will be easy 3point for Jokik.

@@stevanherold5497but u dont understand he would spam 3s in that era, he would play just like any other center in that era and he wouldnt avg 10 assist because we would play like traditional center and not like pg...and than paint wasnt wide open like now and they play physical defense soo...he would avg less everything

The Denver Nuggets & Jokic Destroyed the NBA with the help of officiating. The league gifted Jokic the Championship and themselves Serbian & Canadian viewership & added international exposure and revenue. The NBA is a business that has been stagnant in grabbing audiences from across the globe meaning they have missed out on sales in those regions and so they have created a International Marketing Campaign to promote their international players and increase fan interest in Countries that would otherwise not be concerned about the league. But with a player from their country representing their region it increases interest for some people who like the sport. Interest creates fans, fans spend money time and attention on products. It’s a business move to increase interest and revenue…!!!

Thanks for watching! I didn’t notice the officiating helping them out. But you’re right about the NBA being a business.
@superSIZEmee

@@HoopsIQ It wasn’t necessarily done by officiating questionably in their games to impact the outcome. You have to watch the whole league with a keen eye. I don’t think it’s coincidence that the Lakers were not in the playoffs but made some trades at the deadline & ended up making it (Questionable) the teams they had to beat were good but not the best of competition for a team to have to face in high pressure games especially when they have been playing together for years and have a different level of chemistry than the Timberwolves who are young & exciting but not really ready to compete for a title (level of difficulty 3) then on to the Suns who just gutted their entire roster for KD who had no true chemistry built with D Booker yet (level of difficulty 4) then you get 38 Lebron James & the recently revamped Lakers who also drastically changed up its roster in order to be more competitive and get Lebron back to the playoffs again (missed it last year). So in conclusion all the referees had to do was control the outcome of the other series in order to ensure that Denver’s path was as easy as possible. Denver still had to win the series which they did but engineering outcomes isn’t a new occurrence it’s been exposed before (see Tim Donehey from Spurs Dynasty era & Gilbert Arenas Podcast speaking on reff interference and rigging). I can’t believe that nobody else seems to notice this though….!!!!!

@@markvincent1011 The fans that are going to spend $$ in LA are already fans & already spend money on the products. They don’t need a marketing campaign to intrigue people who are already fans. Your a special kind of dumb if you can’t grasp the concept increasing revenue…!! & the US Dollar is losing value & prestige all across the globe daily so whatever metric of currency that other countries alternatively use is going to be more lucrative than the the Dollar in the future once the economy collapses AGAIN…!!!

@@HoopsIQ The east is between Celtics and Bucks. Maybe heat if they get Dame but I don't see it. The west is Denver, LA, Phoenix. Nuggets have no bench but have arguably the best starting lineup but lost Brown and green who they wouldn't have beat the lakers without. Suns added beal who is the same player as Booker. Suns have no bench and Ayton is bound to get upset and cry about touches/shots. Lakers have emerging stars in Reaves and Rui and added players like Vincent who help miami make the Finals and Prince who was big for the timberwolves. Assuming everyone is relatively healthy I like the Lakers. Would love to see a realistic argument for those teams. Anyone can get hurt and LeBron clearly isn't effected by age yet.
