I'm gonna be 100% honest and say I don't think Katherine Heigl is that bad. She may be insensitive and blunt with her phrasing, but she has strong opinions and is honest about them. She's candid about her own mistakes as well, which is pretty brave. I also think a lot of the things she's said are right (especially regarding Knocked Up's sexism). Her ego may need to be knocked down a peg or two but her reputation didn't deserve to crash the way it did. God forbid a beautiful woman has a mind of her own.

Lorrie: I would totally agree with you if not for the clear lack of power Hollywood actresses have. An up-and-coming starlet doesn't always have the power to speak her mind or request changes to her directors for fear of being labeled difficult, especially in male-dominated comedies like Judd Apatow's. There's a possibility Heigl was just scared and speaking up for herself. And we've seen SO many movie stars act embarrassed about their breakout roles or act above them, or publicly express regret over participating in certain projects. Heigl sure isn't the only one. However, I do think her declining her Emmy nomination was a bit tone-deaf lol. It didn't really make sense.

@@claudemakelele2856 In season 4, Katherine simply didn't enter the Emmy race. She quietly didn't submit. The submission is not obligatory from the actors. A journalist noticed the list and that her name was missing and he made it a big deal and then Katherine gave the most typical response that an actor can give. That her material in that specific season-an affair with a married man- didn't warrant a submission. She never used the word worthy. And then she complimented her colleagues for having a better material. Chandra Wilson publicly defended Katherine for this by saying that she didn't understand why it became an issue in the first place since there were years that she didn't partcipate the race either because of the lack of appropriate material and Krista Vernoff also publicly defended Katherine by saying that she only got a rap because she was a woman and not a man. And Shonda Rhimes who was covering Isaiah Washington, is known for her feuds with her employees. She literally got rid of Derek's character because she disliked Patrick Dempsey and she had issues with T.R. Knight and Sara Ramirez as well. Sara Ramirez literally left in season 12, Katherine was not even there, by criticizing them about their bad environment. So if anyone is difficult, it's Rhimes. Her writing skills are highly overrated and she acts like Marlon Brando in The Godfather. Yet Katherine still gets critisised for something that happened 10 years ago and Shonda gets away scot free. What a joke. And when it comes to Knocked Up, she replied to one question with honesty after the journalist told her that many women found the movie antifeminist and in the end Katherine said that it was just a comedy that exaggerated the stereotypes but Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow didn't open their mouth when their closed assistant, Mike White called it the movie of the b@#$% and Seth Rogen was also covering his bestie James Franco. Have you any idea what he did???????!!!!!!!!! And funny how the crew from Grey's said that Katherine was one of the nicest people and one of their favorites behind the scenes and funny how the Grey's directors praised Heigl for her professionalism. All of her colleagues, in all these years that Katherine is active, all said the same thing, that she's super professional, really funny and awesome to work with and in every set she is in, she makes friends for a lifetime. Justin Chambers is one of them. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is another. And Katherine steadily works all these years, her net worth is way bigger than most of all the actors on Grey's, she was a top player on Suits and right now she is thriving on Netflix by having in her back a best-selling author who keeps praising her all the time. And right now Katherine is out there and she is thriving with her multiple talents, while others are staying stale on the same job for 18 years because they need Shonda to live and because without Grey's they can not do anything else. And by the way, Katherine's Firefly Lane was the first show that dethroned Shonda's Bridgerton from the top. Her career is perfectly fine. And in a Hollywood full of Harvey Weinstein and Seth Rogen and James Franco and Shonda Rhimes, I always found it hilarious how there are people who actually believe that honest women like Heigl are a problem in any way. Next time do better

Also, I was just watching Knocked Up and that's how I ended up here. If what she was saying was true, it would still be untasteful because she read the script beforehand and agreed to star in the movie which made her a LOT of money, so it's kinda petty to say that afterwards, when she could have simply declined the part. But the thing is, the men are portrayed as absolutely dumb and useless in this movie, while the women are portrayed as intelligent and responsible. Yes, her character can be a b**ch sometimes, but that doesn't make it sexist since the men are portrayed as absurdly flawed individuals. This fact makes her statement even worse. As I am now in my middle ages my wisdom seems to be a given lately. I was always the one who spoke what was on her mind. But now I realize sometimes that thinking 'things' with a twinkle in my eye is enough to get my point across.

Some people are socially awkward and have trouble gauging the right time and place to say things. I think she's genuinely just one of those people. It sucks, but doesn't make her a bad person.
@sdgdhpmbp6 жыл бұрын
This recklessness definitely fades with age, but she certainly should've known better. That said, I can't find too much fault in her actions with the worst of it only being that she's being public about it. I feel that the push against her career from higher ups, especially Grey's Anatomy's show-runner, was a bit excessive.

I don’t think someone should be set back or ripped apart because she’s telling the truth. Why should we look down upon someone who literally does GREAT ACTING. I’m a Leo and I definitely would have done the same thing. Shame on everyone else.

The problem as I see it is, while KH is a talented actress, Grey's brought the best out of her, and she didnt appreciate it. She thought it was her. Her knocked up comment didnt make her believable in any romcom that came after. But obviously you cannot ruin relationships in Hollywood on set!what?Even Bruce Willis eventually paid for that.

She's an Awesome Actress, really like her in Netflix's new release movie Firefly Lane. Maybe all she gotta do is tone down her opinions and be humble about things that she like to express to others. Other then that, hopefully the public respect her for that, who knows only time will tell.

I don't care what the Hollywood Shills say. She probably didn't cave to some producer's come-on. Remember what happened to Tippy Hedren. when she refused Hitchcock's advances? Look at Katherine. Do you not think she endured a bunch of advances on her? She's a good person.

I agree with Kate Heigl, her Gray's anatomy character didn't really have much play, she was (in the show) sleeping with way too many people and as a Doctor, she didn't really have much to show for. She does sound like she would be hard to work but that's because she grew up in a Church that actually believes in Heaven and Hell, unfortunately, Ellen G. White added to the Bible and set a date for the return of Christ, having said that, Kate Heigl has her heart in the right place but Hollywood is a monster that swallows their young. Thank you for this video.

I’ve been in show business all my life and in theater since grade school, and Katherine is a tremendous actress, much better than anyone she’s played opposite of or writers, directors or producers. If they can’t put up with her, it’s from pure jealousy. I also like Drew Barrymore, it’s in her blood. I grew up with three Channel black and white TV, and just a few impress me, Al Pacino of course. If you don’t like Katherine you just don’t know! lol 😆

@lisamarieashby25232 жыл бұрын
She did not "slander" anyone. She expressed her opinion. And she did a good job with a crappy role. Just because the masses love shallow soap operas does not mean it is good. Just means a lot of people follow it. In order for something to be slandered, which is a legal term, it requires harm to the person(s), in a financial way, to be accurate. Or completely untrue. Which it was not from a legal standpoint. The rest is opinion only. And yours is yours, but that is all. There are plenty of viewers that agreed with her. Just not "the bosses".

I don’t see her as a horrible person because she expressed honesty. The Emmy, she should’ve just accepted the award. However, the Knocked Up movie, I totally understand what she meant and I felt the same way about the film. I’m not a huge fan of apatow’s and he does make his make characters ,especially in this film, as she stated.

Katherine is very average looking for Hollywood; she dresses and styles herself like she is 30 years older than what she is; she is rumored to be unpleasant to work with and has a Dragon Lady agent/mother. All this with not nearly enough talent to compensate equals a career full of could have beens. She should speak to Sean Young about pissing away a career
